The price is more likely to go up, not down. Just look at the phones. An "expensive" phone in the pre-iPhone days would cost 250-300USD. And the battery would last a week, not five hours. An iPhone 12 Max costs a whoopping 1400USD...

      @@okaldhol interesting point
on the other hand its because of the "lifestyle" thing, people LOVE to pay for expensive stuff to make them feel premium
almost everyone can afford a 1000 dollar phone to feel special
but almost no one can afford a 100.000 dollar car
so it will be interesting to observe if the prices stabilize
in my humble opinion nothing will really move until we make a breakthrough in battery technology because current batteries are just not good enough.
for small things yes but not for huge things like vehicles... so yeah the future will certainly be exciting

Sure, I can't take it across the US without pre-planning my trips at charging stations, but that's not how I ride anyway. The speed and acceleration is smooth and incredible every single time. The quiet rides through the parkways is relaxing and very zen. I get asked every time I take it out by other motorists if it's electric and they all seem to be intrigued with it. 1) Charge time needs to be much closer to the time it takes to fill a tank.
    2) Weight. They are currently too heavy.
    3) It needs to make noise. I'm good for a speaker, it can sound like a twin one day and a 4 the next! I like that idea.
The mechanical simplicity is a selling point though.
But the reality is that the Western world isn't currently set up for it.
If you live in a block of flats, where are you going to charge it?
I'm in the UK, my mum often can't even park outside her house most days. Who's going to pay for the infrastructure? It still requires fossil fuels to generate that electricity and then there is disposing of the batteries...

2 zero srs weighs about the same as a ninja 1000
3: install speakers and play whatever sound you want..
5: every electric outlet is a potential charging station for these bikes, And because it's a motorcycle getting it closer to those outlets is much easier. Finally you don't have a gas pump in your front yardOr in your apartment block. You also don't visit the gas station every day, As ranges increase Skipping charging for A-day is going to become more and more convenient, Also keep in mind we're just beginningTo experiment with electric transportation in earnest, Some of the newer motorcycle concepts I've seen out and about have removable battery packs That you could easily carry up to your apartmentTo charge overnight.

    • @philippwalder4328
      @philippwalder4328 3 года назад

I think we‘ll see different powertrains between transport/cargo traffic and individual/local traffic. While individual transport (private cars and motorcycles) will switch to battery electric drivetrains, due to the tremendously lower local pollution and very high efficiency of electric drivetrains (efficiency is approximately (my own guess based on (little) knowledge) 80-90%), transport and cargo will stay with fossil or e-fuels. In my opinion hybrid systems (phev, milde hybrid etc.) won‘t have a bright future at the current development towards big, heavy SUVs and Crossovers. Many carmakers like VW have great concepts like the VW XL-1, a small, light car powered by a 0,8l Diesel engine that had very little fuel consumption of under 2l per 100km. But I haven‘t heard of that in years and I don‘t think they‘ll come up with a revision of that concept. Hydrogen electric drivetrains are a great concept too but they definitely have their problems too (low efficiency, expensive production, technical problems (eg the fuel tank has to widhstand pressure of up to 700 bar or 10,000 psi which makes them heavy and bulky) and ofc almost no country has build up an infrastructure in hydrogen fuel stations). Whatever the future has in store for us I‘m grateful to experience that development.

@@WattsToTheWheels Good point. However, considering your user name, your a bit biased on this subject and will readily overlook or make excuses for legit concerns.
Consider...not every hotel/gas station will even have a place to and or allow you to charge your bike on their dime. This is especially true outside of heavily urbanized areas. Furthermore, to my understanding a lot of the fast chargers only work on a special outlet you have to install in your home and or it also uses a big bulky adapter that would be a PITA to carry around on a motorcycle.
The arguments for people who claim to ride 600 miles at 150mph are obviously on the extreme side, but so is the claim that charging an E-bike is not a big deal compared to the convenience of pumping gasoline in your tank.
It matters. Personally, I'll stick with tried and true ICE bikes for now. I'm not against E-bikes and in fact I look forward to getting one in time, but probably 10-20 years from now when they are much more refined, cheaper and generally much better than ICE bikes, rather than compromising on things that do in fact matter to those who aren't willing to jump to a piece of immature tech.

I've thought an electric motorcycle would be the perfect commuter vehicle, and I think once they get cheap enough that will be their dominant market. Low maintenance, low operating costs, eco friendly, quiet, don't have to bother with gas (just plug it in every night) they would be the absolute best vehicle for someone frequently doing a relatively short ride. Wouldn't be as suitable for people wanting to go long distance, or even have the most fun, but if you want to get to work every day at minimum cost it can't be beat. Gas motorcycles are toys, electric motorcycles are appliances. I think channels like this forgets that anyone in the world wants to motorcycle for practical purposes. The problem with an electric motorcycle really comes down to physics. Compare the fuel consumption between a bike and a frugal estate car and for non-urban travel they won't differ a lot. A bike while far lighter than a car has really crappy aerodynamics. This tells us the demand on the battery for an electric car/bike will be similar. But a car packs a 40-80 kWh battery pack while bikes tend to settle around 15 kWh. And unless we see a major revolution in battery tech and a move from li-ion, something that's many years away, electric bikes are really as good as we can hope for them to get at the moment.

Love that we glossed over the Livewire, lol. I'm up for an e-bike for sure, just waiting for the charge times to be faster.

Also thank you for converting the kilowatt per hour to HP. That will actually help a lot of people understand the power.

We need electric motorcycle with: hub motor for very low maintenance, over 10 kwh battery with ccs fast charge in about 20 min (same speed as some electric cars) and lower than 5k price and over 20kw of power.

I just need an electric motorcycle that looks like a classic, standard, and/or cafe racer styles. Plus where's my side car for an electric motorcycle.

Have you looked at the evoke 6061? If that bike can hit the specs their claiming (like a muscle cruiser with a 15 minute charge time) it’ll be game changing! And it’s cheaper than the live wire!

Theres a really good electric bike startup here in India, ultraviolette might pick it up as my personal motorcycle.

Like electric cars, they are great for commuting and shorter rides, but for long trips, be prepared to be patient and wait for charging

Why were you worried about making it back to the shop? Because there was no place to charge. You can have a motorcycle with small gas tank as well, but gas stations are everywhere. This is the single biggest reason Tesla is doing well, they built the infrastructure. You can drive a Tesla easily across the country now, but not electric bikes as they can not use Tesla chargers and there are not enough of the charging stations.

Electric bikes are SO fun! Would buy if it was around the same price as a normal bike.
