- Pretty much impossible to focus on one particular song when the person you're speaking with has written SO MANY classics. If you were to ask 10 people what their favorite Richard Smallwood song is you would most likely get 30 different answers lol and that's a testament to just how many great songs he has penned over the years. My personal favs include Praise Waiteth, Holy, Thank You, ok let me stop because I myself have about 20 personal favs! Please show him some love in the comments. Mannnn, Mr. Smallwood is absolutely one of my favorite favorites. Through his gift, I have had many moments with God that I cherish. His music takes me straight to praise, those private priceless moments with our Father. Thank You Mr. Smallwood for your obedience to the Holy Spirit. KEVON, KEVON, can you hear me? Kevon, one of the things I really enjoyed about this interview is that as an interviewer, you let Richard speak without a zillion (unnecessary) questions as some interviewers feel they should do; because clearly, he already came with very powerful, insightful, and enlightening things to say on his own that all musicians could suck in and learn from. Richard Smallwood is a natural, deeply talented and humble individual inspired by God, and you allowed him to bring it out. Great job man!
I wanted Kevon to do Richard Smallwood, but I thought he wouldn't do it because I thought it was for unknown writers, but when I saw the title of the video, 🙌🏽🏃🏿. This man is truly an inspiration, his work with both vision and the richard smallwood singers is amazing. Thanks to Kevon and Smallwood for meeting and having a great interview.

Wonderful interview. Richard Smallwood is my favorite. He is special. You can always tell when Richard has something to do with a song even if he or his choir aren't singing. For example, the first time I heard 'Don't Cry', 'Secret Place' and 'That Name' I just knew Richard Smallwood had something to do with them.

Thank you so much great interview! I stopped halfway through to look up the boys choir that Richard mentioned singing Total Praise and you can find it by searching "Libera Total Praise". I watched the virtual version I'm sure both are awesome. He was right it's amazing to hear the young boys voices singing that song. Thank you so much Kevon for bringing Richard to us like this. This has been such a blessing! I’ve been struggling with my lack of consistency in sitting down to write songs! To find that someone as great as you writes in somewhat the same manner (although LOADS better) is quite an encouragement! Really hoping Richard Smallwood sees this... he may not remember me but back in the late 80’s early 90’s I played percussion at Metropolitan Baptist Church (with Maurette Brown-Clark, David Warr, Greg Grainger, etc.) I used to just sit in the background and admire your talent. I’ve since then started playing keyboard myself and you are the first person I tried to study. I haven’t gotten anywhere near your level, but I’m not doing bad! Thank God, thanks for Richard and thanks to you as well Kevon! I love how you infuse pure talent with humor! A favorite has interviewed another favorite!
Absolutely amazing interview. One thing that I totally agree with as a musician that plays by ear is Mr. Smallwood taught me theory in his composition. I would sit at the piano perplexed like how did do that? Truly gifted writer of our time.

Great interview, Kevon! Richard has been my musical mentor since I was a college freshman. He has always been encouraging and has never changed. I think his setting of "The Resurrection" to Sergei Rachmaninoff's "Vocalise" is one of the most beautiful compositions anyone has ever done. 🎵🎵🎵
