    *The only FMJ 9mm I'll buy anymore is 9mmNATO*
    It's supremely reliable, has sealed crimp & primer, and recoil/POI is very close to high quality defensive rounds. Over 10k zero ammo related failures.

      @BuffRANGE  7 месяцев назад +3

      I wouldn't disagree one bit. Most all 9mm NATO loads are going to be loaded warmer and with more velocity. Win 9mm NATO for example. Some foreign brands aren't though :D

      @@BuffRANGE Winchester is the standard it seems, it's always available, and inexpensive when purchased in bulk. Never had any issues with it. I won't use any without the circle-cross NATO marking.

      @Ilovebanjos 7 месяцев назад +1

      I hate to break it to you but even 9mm Nato isn't true to spec as it once was. Testing equipment and specs aside, 9mm as it was designed in both 115 and 124 gr loadings would have been pretty damn hot.
      Winchester M1152 is a great example. 9mm, It's a 115gr traveling 1320 fps.
      Winchesters 9mm Nato is still a good loading, but velocities has changed in the last 2 decades.

    • @MB-jg4tr
      @MB-jg4tr 7 месяцев назад

      @@Ilovebanjos M1552 is +p+ and some handguns won't handle it without failure. It was designed as an urban combat penetrator with as little deviation as possible through barriers.
      You're not breaking anything to me as I've researched this topic fairly well, and I think you may be generalizing and incorrectly stating facts. I haven't seen any NATO rounds out of spec since I started shooting NATO around 15 years ago.
      True 9 mm Luger(original round developed specifically for the Luger pistol) was a much more powerful cartridge than what is called 9 mm Luger today. It was much hotter as it was designed to operate the toggle on the Luger pistol. It had the same dimensions and bullet weights as today’s 9 mm but should not be used in anything except a Luger. When the Walther P-38 was designed, it had issues in firing the 9mm Luger rounds in the German arsenal. And so the US had to produce a lower power round and mark it in some manner so that it would not end up in a Luger pistol by mistake. Post war production ended up being somewhere between the two German & American WW-II loads, and then the adoption by NATO finally settled on a single standardized load for the military.
      As far as I can gather 9mmNATO hasn't changed since adoption of NATO STANAG (Standardization Agreement) 4090 (“TECHNICAL PERFORMANCE SPECIFICATION PROVIDING FOR THE INTERCHANGEABILITY OF 9 mm x 19 AMMUNITION”) in 1962.
      STANAG 4090 has a pretty wide envelope for what qualifies - it states a minimum and maximum bullet weight and velocity, maximum chamber pressure, minimum and maximum muzzle energy, the ammunition has to meet certain waterproofing standards.
      The idea behind STANAG 4090 is not to specify an exact particular loading of 9x19mm as a singular official “9mm NATO", but rather to specify something that can be used safely, reliably, and effectively in any NATO country's military 9mm weapons, whether that is a Norwegian WWII surplus MP40 SMG, an American M9 pistol, a German P1 (post WWII P38) pistol, a Belgian GP35 pistol (Browning HiPower), a British Sterling SMG, etc. This is so that allies can easily supply each other with ammo with no real logistical issues, even if the “foreign" ammo isn't exactly the same spec as your own army's issued 9mm ammo - it might kick a bit more, or shoot a little low from where your sights are regulated, but it'll feed and fire without blowing your gun up by being too hot or causing malfunctions from being too weak to cycle the action reliably, and it will be accurate enough for combat use.
      All 9mmNATO is P rated, some +P, and some +p+

      Yup, look at 9mm loadings from WWI time period. 9mm was much hotter then it is now.

    I was looking for cheap 9mm recently and settled on 124 gr BPS. Shipping is reasonable on the 700 round lots. I haven't tried any, but I'm hoping it isn't underpowered.

      @cragbot1 - The price on that and a few other Turkish 115gr FMJ has been seen for 16 cents/rd . Equivalent price in a brick & mortar would be about 20 cents -22 cents. I'm 40 miles from a Ru-Ru King & our Wally World stores barely have anything but 22LR, 12g bird/skeet loads, and a few hunting loads in 6.5 Creedmoor, 308, & 30-06, & 350 Legend (can't use walled cartridges in my county) that is the selection. No handgun cartridges. None. And we don't have mag/firearm bans either.

    Found that Turban 9mm is made in Turkey and sales for 18-19 cents per round on the internet, not including shipping.

      @@BuffRANGE specifically the +p Verizon of the 80gr out of a g19/17. I run a comp on my EDC so the extra gas only helps push the muzzle down. I don't see much testing on the +p in gel and it's hard to gauge if that extra speed translates to damage or less tumble.
