Agreed. My step dad is the same way. Some peoples brains are just wired different. Then you add in Mikes experience and decades of learning tips, tricks, learning from mistakes and the result is this masterpiece of a craftsmen.
Mike the Machine! Learned so much framing knowledge just from this video! Love the renders too; can't wait to see more as this develops. If it were my garage I would have made the new garage-to-mudroom door line up with the existing door going into the house so it would be a straight-shot for moving bulky items in/out of the house and give a little extra room for working in front of those electrical panels. Then with that expanded width on the left side of the new door, mount a hide-a-hose OG vacuum and some Slatwall, maybe a vertical cabinet too. There'd be some loss of wall space for the long cabinet array, so pros and cons there. To each their own though, no judgement!
I've been a subscriber to your RUclips channel for some years now. I'm also an OG customer.. Watching you guys work is like viewing This Old House - Garage Edition, including cool cars and high end everything you can think of, meticulously installed in said garage. I can and DO watch your videos like I'm streaming a show on NetFlix or something, eagerly anticipating the next installment! Best of luck in the new house!
In my opinion whole lotta great knowledge you can learn in this channel Trevor has a great future ahead I wish the best of luck Of course the rest of the rest of OG team too! 💯
I have that same Bosch laser. That thing sucks through some batteries like they’re going out of style. It’s way brighter than my older red laser one, but man it’s battery hungry.
I must admit that if asked what Matt was most well known for I would have said it would be for setting up the pressure washer on the wall but after watching this video I would say its for him finding Mike. Mike is a wizard when it comes to this sort of stuff. Question: I thought you guys were already selling and offering proslat on the website? Didn’t know Matt still hasn’t been able to test their offerings yet
If the “hallway” to the hvac closet is closed off with a door, and the vacuum and air compressor systems are in there, it seems like there could be an air supply issue. You’ll need a fresh air source from somewhere.
Mike and Matt, are you going to rough in outlets in for that wall? Now would be the perfect opportunity! Just something I was thinking as I was watching. Can’t wait to see the finished project!
Can Mike come and finish up my basement please?? 1500sqf is finished. Just need the 1500 finished up with a way to put a cold plunge next to the infrared sauna. :)
Cut the ceiling drywall so I can put the 2x4 double top plate to the joist and carry the load from the upper floor. U do t want to put the top plate u set dry wall I mean u can but a framer would never do that. Plus it makes it easier to screw it to the top plate and joist
Can never have too many outlets. You can even sink some into the counter top that pop up, for instance, or something that pops down from the bottom of a shelf.
Seems like the closet by the water cooler is considered a hallway and your new wall is too close to the door when opened. Is that a code violation? I think you said it’s a utility room , I see it has double doors as well.
We’re painting ceilings black now? I thought Matt was really against that during one of the garage builds a few years ago. It certainly looks cool in the renderings, but hard to tell how it would feel in real life.
Nice job of DIY wall, but OG might want to start to use metal framing 1.5MM=16GA, 2.0MM=14GA, 2.5MM=12GA and trusscore or similar product as a substitute for sheet rock for ultimate obsessed fire and chemical/water/solvent resistant straight and water proof walls. Walls using these spec materials are much stronger straighter and can be pressure washed at 5000PSI directly are easily cleaned if not painted and far more attractive if you like white and need no backing as1.5MM metal studs are far stronger than framing grade wood interior partitions. Can be located with a simple magnet and with the care you exercise in your installs will be true and flat enough to eliminate the need to ever shim a wall again to get cabinets to align or be level. These specs. for walls/partitions will be resistant and user friendly to most solvents and cleaners even small hammers will have difficulty causing surface damage. The 3-0 door you are planning to install will likely cause issues with electrical codes if door returns in front of any elictrical panel check local and NEC electrical fire/electric code before hanging that door. Ray Stormont
@@MikeFigueira-OG I agree that wood will work fine and is easier and cheaper to use, however if goal is the best I suggest you begin to look at new mall exterior mansart changes and design renovations of mall stores, and restraurant renovations/builds and take note of how many times you see stick framing. These are users that are spending millions for high end finishes and durable lasting jobs that cost more per square foot than high end homes by a factor greater than three. I have been a developer owner of commercial space for more than five decades and if the heavier guage metal framing is used wood is a distant second for build quality and strength. Maybe this DIY test/inquiry I am suggesting you undertake will give you a different objective prospective/outlook. An OCD ardent fan of your companies mission statement. Ray
It's kind of driving me nuts that the door to the house and the door from the mudroom to the garage aren't lined up. I get moving it to the left to increase the amount of cabinet space but....how many cabinets does one need? And you could move it to line up and put storage on the left. Just an observation from someone who has built a lot of houses. All designs have compromises; just have to choose the ones you want to live with.
Hey guys just curious why you would leave the vehicles in the garage while your working ? I would be concerned I would damage the cars or at least get them dirty . We all know Matt might get upset if you ran a stud into the car by accident . I'm just being curious , I enjoy watching you do these projects !
No, this house is near the kid’s and Michelle’s school. She bought the house in her name and they were going to split time….seemed a bit dubious but that’s Matt. Then someone made him a deal to buy his whole house fully furnished so he sold it and they are all here. But since it’s in her name it’s “Michelle’s House”.

Mike is truly an unbelievable dude. He can do literally anything and does it efficiently.
Agreed. My step dad is the same way. Some peoples brains are just wired different. Then you add in Mikes experience and decades of learning tips, tricks, learning from mistakes and the result is this masterpiece of a craftsmen.
Agreed. Matt is truly lucky. And I like the Mike/Mike/Trevor team.
Michelle has got to be the most patient woman on Earth.
Love Mike's understated ribbing of Matt lol.
Matt cracks me up. Worried about Mike getting his tools dirty 😂
It's nuts actually
Obsessed garage is lucky to have Mike! He helps make Obsessed garage what it is at least on your garage videos.
I learn something new every time I watch these types of videos. Thanks for taking us along the journey. Excited to see it come to life.
Agree 💯
I do not know about Matt but I closed my eyes with the wood so close to the cars (also all the dust 😁)
Love this. Mike your knowledge is incredible. Love to watch and learn. It’s like he can do anything. Fix cars, build homes and cook. 🧑🍳
The renders of the mudroom at the end scene is sick. I can't wait to see this all come together, it's already progressing quite nicely!
You are blessed with the crew that you have. So much talent.
Mike reminds me of those old PBS handyman shows id watch. lol
"Hey Mike, yesterday I was told that we smell good" lol.
Mike is the Tom Cruise of construction workers. Always putting on a show for the people.
he actually sort of looks like Tom Cruise if Tom had aged normally and didn't have plastic surgery lol. I noticed this a few weeks ago.
Mike is the man
Great content as ususal Matt and OG Crew! These build series have became such a great addition to your channel! Thank you!
If it were me, I would have moved that wall out a few inches to catch the truss. Would have saved a whole lot of effort.
man about town building garages. what can mike not do
I heard that he’s not a very good Aerospace Engineer, but…. I find that hard to believe. lol!
We need a Mike version of This Old House

Mike is just a jack of all trades! Love when Mike messes with Matt! Especially when he’s dirtying his tools up lol.
Gotta get Mike one of those new Milwaukee 6-1/2” circs! Perfect for a job like this, lighter than the rear handle and chews through spf

Matt created the Best show on TV. Love the music at the end.
Get those drills dirty, Mike!

Trevor has a great future ahead I wish the best of luck
Of course the rest of the rest of OG team too! 💯
Bring back the daily videos. i want to see more videos of Mike !
I was surprised you didn’t add electrical on that wall even if it was for future use. Love the content.
It's coming in the next episode!
I was puckering every time they swung a 2x4 near the GT3 😱
Great Stuff Mike! Don’t forget to run power before drywall!
Mike has talent..!!
Nice work Mike
I'm surprised Matt left the cars inside the Garage. Mike is just that good. Never dropped a screw or stud.
One 40 min video and Mike teaches you more than 6 seasons of Bob Villa.
Milwaukee m12 laser is great, would recommend using it.
I have that same Bosch laser. That thing sucks through some batteries like they’re going out of style. It’s way brighter than my older red laser one, but man it’s battery hungry.
Matty was caught eating Zebra Cakes! 😂

6:24, Matt, again, being the world's greatest assistant.
Can't believe Matt has the cars in the garage during construction
I had no idea Matty was such an avid fisherman, he’s got baitcasters and all 😮
Those are all Ryan's.
I will hit up the design team, when I am ready to get my garage done, but is it an extra charge to have steve come to do the install.
At least someone is building a wall 🤣
Is there a building code required to add walls?
Did you mean permit?
Can Mike come and finish up my basement please?? 1500sqf is finished. Just need the 1500 finished up with a way to put a cold plunge next to the infrared sauna. :)

I mean u can but a framer would never do that. Plus it makes it easier to screw it to the top plate and joist
It’s not a load bearing wall. Technically it didn’t need a double top plate.
HVAC crew will appreciate that wall.
maybe run some power through new wall for couple of outlets before drywall.?
Can never have too many outlets. You can even sink some into the counter top that pop up, for instance, or something that pops down from the bottom of a shelf.
You should turn the doors to the AHU into pocket doors.
Rendering shows bypass sliding doors.
Seems like the closet by the water cooler is considered a hallway and your new wall is too close to the door when opened. Is that a code violation? I think you said it’s a utility room , I see it has double doors as well.
They should have made you part of the design team
Hey Mike, can you ask Mike we didn't use metal studs for this?
All those Milwaukee tools, and Matt couldn’t get Mike a M12 or M18 laser level? 😛
Matt - can yall start carrying the Milwaukee M12 laser??
Yeah. 220,221. Whatever it takes.
Are you going to review Pan's new line? Heard his drying aid and tire shine blow yours out the water
Wonder if Matt will powder coat the overhead door rails to complete the look?!
What was the make/model of wrench plier?
We’re painting ceilings black now? I thought Matt was really against that during one of the garage builds a few years ago. It certainly looks cool in the renderings, but hard to tell how it would feel in real life.
No black ceiling in here.
I think the door should be in line with the house door
Why? Then I can't do my cabinet array.
Is the in-swing 36” door going to hit the mini-split in the mudroom or is the door shorter than the height of the mini split?
Door is foot lower
Whats that shaker bottle with green lid that’s on top your tool storage cabinet with the sockets called. ?

I liked the idea of Trusscore until I saw it. It's not great.
Wood is ideal for what we are doing.

must have been raining, those cars in the garage while cutting.
Looks like it would’ve looked better to bring the wall all the way to where to room partitions from dry wall to blocking.
The placement of the door near the electrical panel looks to close.
They should have asked you to approve the plans

working awfully close to lots of expensive cars.
Ya put those cars on the driveway out of the way

I like that it makes the mudroom feel like a truly separate area. I didn't want the doors lined up.
👍
Hope Matty doesn’t get flamed too bad considering all the hate Anthony got during the rag company remodel.
Mike you forgot "for more crazy"
Im surprised the cars where in the garage during construction
Are they using post tension slabs out there in nowhere Florida?
I asked that, Matt said no.
They are not.
Is radiant barrier roof decking not common in Florida?
It is not.
Surprising. I’ve been seeing it a lot in the Memphis area in new house construction.

It's hot outside. The cars are okay.
How come the garage doors are never insulated?
Those doors are insulated.
Wear ear and eye protection! Safety first.
Mike needs a microphone
Its not our house, it's mine
haha
Only fans ads in the comments 😂
I don't understand why the cars are parked inside and taking all the wood dust, I would park it outside and keep garage doors open
Need to keep the doors closed so Karen next door doesn’t snitch to the HOA about the unapproved modifications.🙄
The cars are like 10 feet from the wall. They are fine.
Are Matt and Michelle divorced?, I'm a bit confused after taking little OG Break

Too funny tools for show you can’t use
I used to enjoy watching this channel, but l got tired of watching Matt stand around and do nothing...and he's annoying
Do nothing... Ha, ha... I moved everything in this house myself in 3 days. While Mike is building the wall, I'm running a massive company.
Didn’t your mom teach you if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything. Do you think his company runs itself?
30:14 I thought they were already there ;P
That's what you call a dad joke, Mike :)
