- Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chair Jaime Harrison clashed with pollster Nate Silver online Tuesday over the Ohio ballot deadline. On the social platform X, Silver shared an excerpt from a New York Times article quoting Harrison. In the excerpt, Harrison stated that the DNC aims to expedite President Biden’s official nomination to circumvent potential legal challenges from Republicans, despite the deadline extension by state lawmakers.
On Tuesday, Roland Martin weighed in on the ballot deadline drama, questioning Silver's comments and saying Democrats should not leave anything to change or the judges who may uphold the August 7th ballot deadline.

Nate Silver is NOT a specialist in politics, statistics or anything else to do with campaigns. He has a degree in economics. Not political science. He started a sports betting business (or something like that) and just decided to parlay that experience into politics by using OTHER PEOPLE’S POLLS to make a name for himself. Also, he was FIRED from 538, the site he started and later sold to ABC news.
Beyond all that, his comments, clearly prioritizing a contested convention (a thing that has literally never happened) over the people of Ohio’s right to vote, show his real priorities.
The DNC chairman made excellent points. Presidential year elections have way bigger turn out than off year elections, which impact down ballot races considerably. Without Biden, or any Democrat, at the top of the ticket you’re risking low turnout in that state and endangering the down ballot races in that state. NOT TO MENTION, the rights of the voters. What about the will of the voters? You don’t get to vote for president in Ohio just because Nate Silver and other elites wanted a new Dem candidate?
The political campaign industrial complex is REAL! The pollsters, commentators and mainstream news networks are all a part of that echo system. We can’t rely on them to tell us how OUR communities will vote. Vote blue!
America had better choose wisely this upcoming election.

I'm from Florida and was unable to vote against Biden in the 2024 primaries because the DNC cancelled the primaries. Nate Silver is right the DNC is trying to push Biden through now because the establisment is done with him after his failed debate.
