To the first woman: Relaxer is NOT shampoo! You do not lather it with your hands! In fact, rubbing it in is the perfect way to burn your scalp off in addition to your hair. I'm 100% shocked none of them complained about pain from chemical burns considering each used horrible techniques.
I know the first girl in this video was heartbroken but she's DEFINITELY one of the few people that can totally pull off a bald head. From that beatifullll skin tone to her facial structure, she's perfect💕💕
@saymyname2417 it kinda changes the way your hair lays. It erases what your hair knows about its own structure (being curly or straight). People with curly hair can put relaxer on and keep the hair straight in its processing time, after washing it off your hair now "learns" to fall how you lay it when it's processing (so if you keep the hair straight, after washing and drying it is now straight hair). Same for people with straight hair getting a perm to get curly hair. It's the same chemical, but they put the hair in rollers so when you wash the chemical off, it now learns to fall curly (same size as the roller used).
@@MadilynDang - I see. So, it's a perm really. And the effect lasts until the hair grows out, doesn't it?! But it is a risky thing 😱. Thanks so much for the answer!
@saymyname2417 the effect definitely is permanent and you have to cut off the processed hair. That's why it's super damaging and risky tho, so you can't get a perm or use a relaxer on bleached hair (or vice versa) as it's already so damaged it'll just break off. The whole relaxer/perm thing scares me honestly 🥲 never do serious hair treatments at home guys
Thank you for advocating for curly hair autonomy! As someone who has had red curly hair my whole life everyone around me is so attached to it I can’t do anything different to it without wails of protest and guilt tripping. So thank you!
Amen. People act like it's their head of hair. "Don't ever cut it!" The next day I got a pixie cut 😆 Don't ever tell me what to do with my own hair how about that?
I'm a natural blonde with straight hair and I get the SAME THING!!! Someone somewhere will have an opinion. Didn't matter what. I dye it red and I love it. But it's MINE. They can protest to the back of my dyed hair as a walk away.
4C girlie here...I'll never forget the last time I ever relaxed my hair lol. I was sitting in the stylist's chair and saw her eyes widen suddenly. Then she held up about 6 inches of length 😭 I had looong hair at the time and I CRIED while she styled it. I rocked a minibob for a while and vowed never to do it again. Now if I want straight hair, I throw on a wig!
@@kawaiixkitty168 It's hard to take care of it. I have 4c and trying to find the right products and having the patience and time to maintain it. It's too much, and I don't even comb my hair often anymore which causes a lot of dead hair and tangles. I like my hair, but the work is not joke. It feels like a chore at this point 😭
@@hadassah-rcy88finding out ur hair porosity works wonders. I’ve heard ppl say porosity doesn’t matter but knowing yours can really help with which products actually moisturize your hair. For instance I’m high porosity so my hair is very susceptible to dryness. I use natural products prominent with castor oil, jojoba, or honey; leaves my hair soft & hydrated for days as if it’s a looser hair texture than it is. It really helps finding the right products
Experienced something similar and was too embarrassed to tell my mom I tried to relax my hair with it dyed...and told her my head had a allergic reaction to hairdye😂😂, she believed me too for years she thought I was allergic to hairdye until I dyed my hair multiple times and she saw it didn't fall out.... lol, oh i wasn't bald though I just had to get an under cut and then dyed it sapphire. It still worked out in the end.
This is why it's important to read instructions on things that are new to you or, better yet, consult a professional. I've been doing my own relaxers for awhile but that's only because the person who was doing them before gave me tons of tips and advice before he moved away. I even had someone else helping at first. These things have to go on quick, only on the unprocessed areas, and get rinsed out really well. Sometimes, in the interest of speed, accuracy is lost and the chemicals get on skin causing painful chemical burns and/or the already processed hair causing breakage. Even professionals can have that issue. I'm so glad Brad is taking the time to educate on them to his viewers. Bleach and relaxers are the worst things for hair by themselves. Put them together and all I have to say is Nair is cheaper and just as effective.
Honestly relaxers arent needed there are different anticurls no need to destory your hair for it to be straight. Ive never had a relaxer and i have thick curls, I had anticurls done and it was amazing
It's been close to 30 years since I last relaxed my waist-length hair and this video gave me flash backs to the chemical burns on my scalp. Even so, my hair never fell out (It hasn't ever been bleached so that helped). Also when the first lady stuck her hand in the relaxer, I knew we were in for a ride.
I appreciate how sympathetic and sweet you are when you watch a video where someone is clearly upset by what happens. The sass is super fun but you never take it too far, its part of the reason i love your videos so much!❤
I'll say this as a girl with very curly hair and other people without curls loving mine so much what they don't understand is the MAINTENANCE!!!! Curls are a lot of work so I give props to anyone who has them because I understand what a struggle they are
I don't have curly or wavy hair but intensly thick hair, I have admired curls my whole life, but don't want them😂. Thick hair is enough maintenance as is. 😅 I've kept it pixie style for 2 years now due to the chronic migraines my hair was a huge trigger for them. I commend my curly haired girlie and guys, I think mine would be a matted mess.
I am so glad I didn't let my mom relax my hair. She literally bought the boxes, invited my cousin over and right before we were going to start I finally started crying and telling her I just wanted to cut off the damaged hair and leave the rest of it alone. And so we did, and now my curls are POPPIN
I'm glad you got your mom to stop! My mom was big into perms when I was younger (90's/early 00's) and was trying to perm my freshly bleached hair. I'm so glad I got her to stop as well cuz otherwise I'm pretty sure my hair would've been on the floor 😢 I wish you and your gorgeous curls all the best! ❤
Losing your hair when you don't want to lose your hair feels almost dehumanizing. And I've never even lost all of it! I can't imagine losing it all in one fell swoop, without even being able to ease into it. 😢Feel so bad for that last woman especially; hope she's doing okay
Helping me with my resolve to stop the generational trauma with relaxers in the black community. Some days I want to stop being natural but this helped me 😂
Just straighten your hair don't relax it. I have pretty dense 3c/4a curls. I got tired of it this week and straightened it. Lmao now I have no clue how to style it and I don't have any products to actually style it
@@marineazad7437 maybe next time ask about what she means by generational trauma of relaxers in the black community rather than responding with “all communities do it”
Reading the comments, I have learned a lot about textured/curly/kinky/POC hair and experiences (as a 3A wavy haired white woman learning to style her waves/curls) and I can only empathize with how heartbreaking it would be to feel the desire/pressure of wanting to relax your hair only to have it fall out!!!!!! My heart was breaking for the girlies in this video ugh i really REALLY can't imagine.
I actually donated my butt length, red hair to a little 6 year old with cancer roughly 7 years ago. It was at that point having a shaved head that I realized, it's just hair. We're all going to lose it someday. It definitely boosted my confidence over the years.
Kudos to Brad for saying that we all have choices - curly hair -> straight via relaxers, straight -> curly via perms? Few of us have the hair growing out of our heads that we dream of. So many of us mess up using chemicals. Fighting nature is hard. Sending good juju to all folks wanting a texture change. To all the women in this video - you're stunning and I hope you're on your journeys to living your best hair life!
I was so scared of ruining my natural blonde hair that I only really played with demi/semi perm colours. I bleached it once and barely had it lifted more than a couple of shades, hardly any damage. It's mostly grown out now and I'm past my dyeing stage, I'm embracing my natural colour, and watching these vids just ... make me grateful I'm done.
I mean it’s a sad yet satisfying moment getting all those clumps out lol. And plus the damage is already done so it’s coming out regardless of how gentle you are. As soon as you wash or brush/comb it then its wraps 😂
I feel these clips. I went bald from chemotherapy at 30. I was told I needed chemotherapy and signed papers and they started immediately I was so sick. This was within 10-15 minutes of my diagnosis. When my hair started coming out in clumps if I scratched at my scalp I wanted it shaved. I waited 10 days and kept asking. Nurses couldn't do it because they had to use disposable clippers and were out, so my partner went and bought new plug in clippers and a big garbage bag. Cut a hole in bag to fit head and catch hair and he started clipping. I knew it was coming and it was still the most emotional I was, even after having been on life support, spleen removal, 2 months of nobody being able to diagnose me, and being told I was going to die in the hospital, and that was it. It was probably overwhelming joy that I could control something in my life again but I get how emotional she was - nothing prepares you for it if it isn't something you truly want, even when you know it's coming
OMG, i'm a curly girl myself and i've always wanted to relaxed for a change, but this video make me realize it's not worth it. Thank You for your content. I loved it.
I have curly hair too, not 4c so maybe that's why i've gotten lucky and i've been relaxing my hair since i was like 12 without a single problem (never switched back cause i'm too lazy to spend hours on hours styling it) my hair is quite long and healthy, but you have to know how to do it cause it works similar to bleach in a lot of ways (like don't wash your hair right before, don't scratch or it's gonna hurt!) but take into account if you do relax it, it's like permanent heat damage, it's not going back to curly unless you cut it and grow it again
It won't get your hair bone straight but a keratin treatment will loosen curls, lessen frizz, and isn't permanent so if you want your natural texture back you just wait.
Just have a professional do it. Or a trusted family member that can do hair. I notice these videos are of African women. African Americans have literally been doing relaxers at home for eons and this kind of shit doesn’t happen. I have no idea WTF they are using. I don’t recognize any of those packages so to be this says they are using some shit with lye in it. American relaxers have been no lye for years. It take leaving it on WAY too long to achieve this level of fuckery. Lye relaxers will pull your hair out in 5 min.
@@balarion539 I don’t know I was sold on the keratin lie went to a Brazilian salon and it did more damage to my hair than my good old Dominican relaxers- it didn’t go back to curly. I would never do it again!
Personally, I have 4c hair and I absolutely love relaxing mine because it's easier to maintain and I do think I suit straight hair better. I do actually do my own relaxers but that's because I've been getting them done from a very young age and learned how to do them on myself as I grew up, so I have lots of experience with the boxed relaxers. I appreciate that Brad defended peoples' choice to relax their hair if they choose to. It's important to allow people the freedom to make their own choices without the risk of being shamed for them. I've seen lots of people make relaxers out to be the enemy of natural hair but it's not a big deal. Yes, they're chemicals but if someone wants to change their hairstyle, they're allowed to, no matter what anyone else says. Not everyone gets relaxers done because they're worried about "beauty standards" or anything like that. Some people, like myself, get them done because they look better on us and are easier to maintain and there's nothing wrong with that. My hair is absolute hell trying to maintain in its' natural state because it's so thick and gets tangled and knotted up pretty easily. It's just easier and simpler to keep it straight as often as I'm able to. Plus, I do think I look better with straight hair anyways, so it's truly does work for me. The issue with the people in this video is that NONE of them read the instructions before starting. You HAVE to do that, you HAVE to. It's not something that's optional because you're dealing with chemicals. You have to wear gloves, put the vaseline on first, apply the relaxer all at once, don't rub it in or comb it through and don't touch your hair prior to relaxing it. I just get really uncomfortable knowing there's people out there that don't read the instructions first. Yikes.
My older brother and I did a lot of relaxers when we were younger, for years, because we both preferred the long hair look and I honestly wonder sometimes with these videos. If their hair means so much to them on this deep of a level, WHY wouldn't you make sure you have AAAALL of the information you can possibly have to avoid disasters like these videos. Read all the instructions, look up so many tutorials, read the instructions again
I'm the same way. My natural hair is 4c and very thick, but I relax because it's easier for me. My hair is still thick, still healthy, just more manageable for me. It takes me 3-4 hours to go through my relaxer day routine, my hair is mid back, because I'm so meticulous with it.
See I loved getting my hair relaxed too because it’s so much easier and you don’t have to spend as much time doing it but they’re now linking it to fibroids and polycystic ovaries which me and all my sisters have and all of us have had relaxers. I saw a story about a person who worked in the morgue and said that everybody who had relaxers all had black brains. I’ve heard that there is a lawsuit going on in America because of them and the chemicals I just hope that they can make them more safer. After seeing good hair you realise how strong these ingredients are.
This is me. I have 4c hair and have been relaxing for about 10 years and my hair is shoulder length. You just need to do your research, read the instructions and have plenty of treatments and stretch relaxers in between. I treat my relaxed hair with the same level of care as if it were natural and it works fine for me
Most of the women I know with healthy, relaxed hair started with healthy 4C hair. Everybody else I know who had a looser curl pattern, me and my sister included, after a while, our hair broke off and couldn't stand up to it anymore. 😂We hit length plateaus because it was constantly breaking. Bobs and doobies only 😂. Yall are blessed to have true versatility. I couldnt even get a decent fro to stand up without hairspray and blow dryers it was horrible. And floppy.😂 I have locs now but I have 3c hair. It's about the most durable and strong my hair has ever been in my life. Having loose natural hair was hard because I was constantly worried about breakage doing protein treatments deep conditioning and whatnot it was so much work. I hated it. Locs are a nice wake up and go. My biggest fear was somebody ripping my wig off outside and my hair not being done underneath. But now my hairs always done so I kinda hope somebody does it 😭😭😭 I'm in therapy.
I have a 30 minute pause at work and decided to watch this video on my lunch break. Boy am I NOT DISAPPOINTED! I have been watching bleach fails with Brad for a while now but relaxer fails have become my favorite kind of videos. I was reacting almost as Brad was reacting and I love how nice he is to all of them.
I'm so glad I stopped relaxing my hair years ago. I hate the thought of doing that again; my hair is naturally too thin to handle that stuff and I've learned to love my curls. But dang, these poor women! It's one thing to try to relax your hair, but having your hair bleached then relaxed is such a bad combo! Edit: Ooh the last one was super painful to watch.
I stopped relaxing my hair 15byears ago. I'm glad I've never experienced hair lodd or damage. I only stopped because my hair is fine, and I was afraid it would thin out. First decade i did zero chemicals but then started getting color. I'll never go back to relaxers *but hold no judgement for people who do*
I never got into it because I saw what it did to may mom and my aunts hair. They got them so often they have irreparably damaged hair that barely grows anymore. I grew up hating my hair but I’m learning that having healthy hair that I don’t necessarily love is better than having no hair at all 😂😂
Thank you Brad for saying everyone with curly hair has the right to do what they want with their hair. I had super straight hair as a kid. In my late 20s, it developed a nice wave and has gotten curlier as I get older. I love my curls. However, whenever I go for a cut and color, the ladies at my local, small town salon always insist on taking the flat iron to it. They’ve finally learned that I don’t want straight hair. I’m like, let’s just put some curl cream in and let it air dry.
My hair has gotten curlier as I've gotten older too (ringlet type curls except a little messier). I feel the ladies at my local salon don't understand how to cut hair with any type of curl pattern in it cuz every time I go in, they want to give me styles with layers that look best on straight hair. I learned to cut my own hair due to that issue alone. I feel for the women who have 4B or 4C hair cuz if a stylist is struggling to correctly cut my 2B hair, idk how they'd ever manage to cut 4C hair.
@@emmicah7720 thankfully the people at my salon know how to cut it (my hair is definitely on the finer side, so layers are a must for me). But for whatever reason, they absolutely LOVE their flat irons. I agree with you…I can’t even imagine what people with 4c hair deal with, especially those that choose to keep their hair natural. I think there needs to be a semester long class (if not longer) at hair school on how to handle hair with texture, because if they struggle with my hair they need to go back to school. All this curl chatter serves as another reminder that I am overdue for a cut and color.
Neutralizing Shampoo should be used after every relaxer in your hair to stop the relaxer from continuing to work on your hair. I am happy I have a auntie that a cosmetologist and knows how to put in relaxers professionally.
yes yes yes omg yes been getting my hair relaxed since i was like 12 . i remember the preparation my mum did for the relaxing - she always, ALWAYS had neutralizing shampoo and fancy ass conditioner from my aunty back home. i love that you mentioned this cuz i remember it was a hole festivity
@@wanton-strumpet exactly, a lot of people don't condition their hair also after relaxers. My aunt uses Queen Helene Cholesterol in my hair after every relaxer.
As a Black Woman who used to get hair relaxers, this whole video made me just go “noooooooooooo” from start to finish because it is a very delicate process. I did a touch up once on myself and never did it again after that. I didn’t do horribly but it was not it. Relaxers can also have very drying properties so if you do it yourself and don’t take care of it then you might as well have not done it at all 😩 and ladies PLEASE stop with the finger scooping 😭😭😭
@@aquasplashgirl me too, no regrets!!! And if I get tired of my hair I get my hair braided or throw a wig on. The relaxer burns scarred me for life, I'm good.
The moment that finger went into the mouth I knew that young lady knew NOT what she did. Using relaxer should be like using a gun, the first step of using it safely is RESPECTING THE DANGER.
BRAD, please don't ever change who you are as a person. I adore your compassion and empathy you have for others. This is one of the many reasons why I watch and enjoy your videos so much. I personally do not enjoy watching or listening to creators who make content where they are harshly criticizing/judging people and putting others down. Thank you for being a ray of sunshine. I wish more creators put out quality material like yours Brad. You made a name and brand for yourself by creating entertaining and informative videos which isnt easy to do. I hope you give yourself the credit you deserve for that btw. When you show others in your content, you are able to use them as an example for a teaching moment. It's not "Ha that bitch fucked up her hair and looks gross. Next video". I really admire you trying to put positive spins on unfortunate situations we see unfold in some of these videos. I also appreciate you treating the individuals in these videos as a living being and say uplifting things like "it'll be ok and they still look beautiful". Again, thank you Brad for putting so much thought, time, and effort into your videos ❤️ I don't know you personally but I feel confident in saying you are an amazing person with a beautiful soul. I wish you nothing but a life full of success, happiness, and good health.
I am ROLLING literally at this video 😂😂Brad you are so funny!! I am 10 years natural with 4c curls and headed for relaxer soon. These fails show EVERYTHING not to do.
I had a hairdresser who would relax my hair. But, there was a product that helped 'stretch' your relaxer so you could go longer in between. She thought it was a good idea to use both. Essentially, double relaxing my hair. It felt like straw and then just started snapping off. This was a licensed professional!
As someone who grew up on relaxers until like 6 years ago... These are PAINFUL to watch. Not a single time in my LIFE relaxer did this to me and I would do it myself. Most I ever got was scalp burns. I almost cried with these girls.
Remember these ladies hair is bleached and already chemically processed, so a relaxer on top will make your hair fall out as we see. 3rd lady did not comb out & detangle her hair then relaxing it and that can make it fall out too.
Good Lord! The last video sent shivers down my spine, her hair basically snapped from her head! I stopped relaxing mine about 4 years ago and I'm definitely not going back, the damage to the hair and scalp is not worth the struggle.
I do believe curly hair people can do what they want. However, relaxers have caused a lot of harm within the black community. They’ve found there’s a link to cancer, uterine fibroids, fibromyalgia, and other chronic health conditions. It’s sad to see this cycle continuing :(
OMG. That's awful. I have very curly hair, and growing up it was soooo out of fashion. Flatiron wasn't a thing. And I know the way I felt was exponentially worse for others with natural texture curly and kinky hair. People trying to fit in to some arbitrary picture of beauty that left a lot of people out. If curly haired people want different hair, I pray it's not because of outside pressure
I also used to think African hair was quite strong. But actually the curlier hair is, the flatter the cross section. In reality, it is quite delicate. But these girls on RUclips make us believe sometimes that their hair can handle a lot
@schneeroseful yeah, as someone with very curly hair, and kinky curly hair in the back, I can tell you it breaks very easily. It can take a whole lot of effort and extra care to get long hair.
I was raised with a mother that relaxed our hair from a young age so I totally agree with all of the precautionary measures that Brad is recommending the only thing that I didn't know about is doing the relaxer after the bleaching as being a big no-no that's very informative and I give it two thumbs up but I am very comfortable with relaxing my own hair at home because I've done it so many times in fact I'm actually over relaxes right now and I've moved on to hair straighteners which is basically the chemical opposite of a perm I don't know what they call it in America but in South Africa we just call it hair straighteners and they're stronger than relaxers but all the rules to relaxes also apply to straighteners
This was so painful to watch... I'm literally scared because I have work in a couple of hours and I work at a beauty place so there are times I do see these horror stories in person... This is a horror movie for everyone that loves their hair or hair professionals. Brad thank you for being sweet and still complimenting them even after the hair fails.
I remember getting relaxers years ago and the stylist definitely combed that ish through with a rat tail comb until I had tears in my eyes from the scalp burning. I had sores and scabs for years bc of this. So happy to be natural with a shaved head now!
Omgggg I'm sorry that happened to you, chemical burns on the scalp sounds like such a nightmare. Especially because there's so much movement going on in that area. I'm glad they healed 🥹
I'm a Nigerian and relaxing hair is a pretty normal thing in my country but right now I don't think it's worth it, especially with my hair type that's extremely curly. My scalp literally gets burnt less than 20 mins after applying the relaxer meaning my hair doesn't get enough time to process and then when the root grows out it's a serious problem to comb through. Currently, I just cut my hair and start a fresh. That stress is not for me. 😅
I’m also Nigerian, I’ve been on Natural hair for three years now and I’m really enjoying it. People around me have been trying to get me to relax my hair and always make side comments on how I’m stressing myself by keeping natural hair and how it’s not worth it, but whenever I style my hair or curl it they’re the same people that end up being amazed and ask me what I do to make my hair grow like that and to tell them what products and methods I use, crazy people 🙄😂😂
There's a video I keep hoping he'll react to from gigi beauty. She relaxed her hair twice on the same day and was cracking up the whole time. It was hilarious
As someone with coily hair , I used to get relaxers alll the time . This is giving me flashbacks lol . I’ve had a few times when the breakage was real . But wheww luckily my hair has never fallen out . I am currently letting the last relaxer grow out and i am staying natural.
This was honestly so triggering! I found myself yelling at the screen; "don't relax on bleached hair, part your hair, start in the back, smooth with the back of the comb!" OMG I'm so stressed! I used to get relaxers and did them myself for quite a few years. I went through chemo and have not relaxed hair in 3 years. And when I was doing relaxers, I was only relaxing 2x a year. I think one thing that wasn't shown, was the strength of the relaxer. A lot of times people are using too strong of relaxer because they think their hair is too coarse and you honestly can use regular or sensitive and it works just well. Whew...that was a lot and broke my heart!
I fried my hair with relaxer, took me over 6 months to get my curls back and ever since then I’ve learned to love my curls because I had an emotional breakdown while chunks of my hair was coming out! My hairstylist told me NEVER AGAIN 😭😭 3 years with natural curls and I could not be happier
I went from locs to relaxed to natural. Natural can be such a pain but you can always do blow outs or flat iron once in a while but a relaxer can take literal years to grow out if you don’t want it and it honestly made my scalp SO dry no matter how well taken care of it was.
I couldn't even finish this one.... I let it play through without me in the room... It was just sad! I usually can at least giggle through the bleach fails having done it to myself before, but all these gorgeous women losing all their gorgeous hair? Still love your content! I know you suffered just as much as us viewers!
big hugs to brad through his vid I feel you man , and sorry to the ladies that messed up their hair sending love to them too, this was sad to watch but interesting as I didn't know what a relaxer was. they should all go out and get some nice wigs and stuff as they are all lovely ladies xx ❤
What does Tia want to relax her hair for? With the bleaching done it's basically straight and with the length, any style she's trying to achieve she should be able to do very easily with styling products 🤔 is she just doing it for the thrill? I mean, she'd be better off running a hot comb through her hair in its current state if she's trying to straighten it for some reason... I wish she explained what the purpose of her relaxing her hair was because the length and texture doesn't justify relaxing. Also, as a black girl who used to get relaxers, I HATED it when people would tell me I should go natural. I WANTED my hair relaxed. I did NOT want to be natural. I have incredibly thick, long hair and that was the easiest way for me to maintain my hair back then. I would get them done professionally twice a year and my hair was plenty healthy and I liked having it relaxed. So, thank you Brad for saying curly girls can do whatever they want with their hair. Ya'll need to stop tryna tell people what to do with their hair.
I chose, the minute I first decided to ever work on my hair myself, that I am 100% good with the possibility of going with a bald look if things go wrong lol. I've felt great doing anything with my hair since. I understand how rad and fun hair can be, but if you want a tip, I'd advise: If you're gonna do anything related to your hair yourself, *be ready to be bald*.
I'm white and when I was 18 I decided to relax my hair myself. My hair didnt fall off but it turned into one gloop of hair. Like each strand bonded together. I wore my hair in a scarf with hair masks in for 6 weeks. It was awful. I dont even use permanent color on my hair now. I'm also 42 years old now with super healthy hair.
I was going to relax my curls years ago but was warned not to by a cousin because she ended up with bald spots, so glad I took her advice. If a hairdresser/stylist with Brad's experience is nervous to attempt it then I'll just keep using my straighteners. 💇♀️❤😂
Hey just wanted to give you a little story. I have medium brown hair and for years I’ve wanted to dye my hair purple professionally. I finally decided to, but it didn’t turn out the dark purple I wanted cause I had slight green tint in my hair (I made my hair green by accident, thought the color was blue when I applied it, but thought the color was gone cause it had been maybe 4-5 months since I did that) which made my mids and ends grayish blue and my roots a dark lavender. I got your super purple and put it over everything and it turned out perfect! And it even looks great with my roots growing out. Thanks for making an awesome purple and I’ll be using that one every time I want purple again.
When the first fail was paused and brad was talking I was stressed in a way feeling like his pause on the video was real time and the relaxer was still relaxing 😭
I relaxed my bf’s hair yesterday and it came out soo good! I’m glad I went to cosmetology school, I’m following with everything Brad is saying. But his hair is thinner in the back and thickerr in the front so I had to start at the first first. Everyone’s hair is different. That’s why it’s important to do consultation/ hair strand test
Waw, the first young lady is one of my former students. I remember telling her I see she has potential to become a successful RUclipsr and she didn't believe me, then she did it and is now successful (don't even know if she remembered me suggesting it to her in front of her class). Look at her now.. being reviewed by Brad Mondo, one of my favourite RUclips personalities. She is absolutely beautiful. Very interesting this life.
Thank you Brad!!❤ As a curly-haired person, I can confidently say that those lucky enough to have straight hair don't realise how much hard work it is. Especially when you are in your 40's, had three kids and with all the freakin hormone changes...I have hair that's curly, some that are wavy and some that are straight🙄. My hair literally has it's own personalities...oh and the grey is coming in nicely too😂. There is my rant for the day. Love ya Brad❤❤
I have that, too; straight, wavy, curly, all in one, which means loads of frizz. Mine is mostly straight with a bit of wave, but there are definitely more curly ones showing up as I age, and it's just a mess on the days I wash my hair; we head straight to frizz town, lol.
Brad, thank you for enduring chills and for feeling bad for the women in the video. I'm sure this video and the tips you gave throughout will help a lot of people not destroy their hair. Focus on the idea that their hair will grow back and they now have an opportunity to treat their hair well so it can grow back and be even more healthy than before.
This video hurt my heart, but thank you for bringing awareness to this regardless and hopefully it will prevent people from experiencing this for themselves😢
This video made me feel really uncomfortable and almost cry ...only by empathy .., also I love that hoodie on you ❤ and thank you for great advices in every video ❤ 🎉
I'm not even a hairstylist but I know not to put relaxer on bleached hair and don't bleach or permanently dye your hair on recently relaxed hair either.
I love how compassionate you are. You aren't mocking anyone, you understand how much hair matters. Thanks for being you Brad!
I hear little violin😂
@@majanovak7700 What are you talking about? There's no sad story here, idiot.
Edit: ok nvm, not just the first girl. All three of them are stunningggggg😍
What does relaxer do? Does it straighten the hair 🤔?
As a natural redhead I totally get it. I bet it would be even more if my hair were curly instead of just lightly wavy.
Omg girl same, it’s so annoying, I wanted to get it straightened as well in japanese way, so permanent, and everyone lost their shit.
I have long long long natural light blond hair and ppl get so upset when I get it cut more than a trim- ignore the length in my pfp lol
Girl my hair breaks so bad when I get relaxers. I made a vow to never do it again. I just gotta learn how to care for 4c curls.
🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿
This was traumatic. I'm so sorry to everyone featured, that's a huge shock when you don't expect it. Sending love ❤
Agreed. You could tell that first girl didn’t even read the instructions
The sass is super fun but you never take it too far, its part of the reason i love your videos so much!❤
My thoughts too! He always has the perfect balance, never have to worry about him saying something mean and getting backlash.
Agree. He corrects and chastises, but it's always in love. I also love that he corrects himself.
I'll say this as a girl with very curly hair and other people without curls loving mine so much what they don't understand is the MAINTENANCE!!!! Curls are a lot of work so I give props to anyone who has them because I understand what a struggle they are
I lived with my best friend, who's white and she has wavy hair. She was stunned at how much my hair took. The maintenance is real
And so we did, and now my curls are POPPIN
good for you girl, it cna be hard to speak up to your mum
I'm glad you got your mom to stop! My mom was big into perms when I was younger (90's/early 00's) and was trying to perm my freshly bleached hair. I'm so glad I got her to stop as well cuz otherwise I'm pretty sure my hair would've been on the floor 😢 I wish you and your gorgeous curls all the best! ❤
It's great to hear that! I'm so glad you were strong enough to say no to someone you love, and cherish your natural hair.
Ya know it's bad when Brad has to leave his own video multiple times 😂
Mans could not stand still 😂😆🤣

The first lady: *puts petroleum around hairline to protect her skin* also her: *doesn’t wear gloves* 🤦🏻♀️
i didn’t even think about that omg 😭

The last one had me on the floor. Brad you are so kind and considerate I was WEAK
Some days I want to stop being natural but this helped me 😂
Emotional damage
That first woman is a legend, I’ve seen that video before lmao she literally did everything wrong
Just straighten your hair don't relax it. I have pretty dense 3c/4a curls. I got tired of it this week and straightened it. Lmao now I have no clue how to style it and I don't have any products to actually style it

I'm not even a hairdresser, and the pain that I feel while watching these people is real. I can only imagine what Brad has to go through.
What about what they are going trough?😅 Luckely our beloved dead skincells grow back tho'🥰
being bald really saves me from a lot of impulsive and very bad decisions
And saves u so much money I bet
@@nymphohalo definitely lol. But I miss having hair. It just felt nice.
It also makes wigs so much easier to install
I was so scared of ruining my natural blonde hair that I only really played with demi/semi perm colours. I bleached it once and barely had it lifted more than a couple of shades, hardly any damage. It's mostly grown out now and I'm past my dyeing stage, I'm embracing my natural colour, and watching these vids just ... make me grateful I'm done.
I want to get a buzz cut and then play with colors/patters on it then when you mess up just buzz it more
The laugh I let out when Brad said “girl this is not cake frosting” 😂
This video was absolutely devastating. I feel so heartbroken for all of them - I hope they're doing well now
Why is everybody’s first instinct when they see their hair falling out, to keep tugging or brushing through it? 😭
Cause the damage is done lol! Once it’s coming off no amount of gentle handling is going to stop it coming off.
Shock
Because it's gone, why leave it clinging on for dear life only to fall off on your pillow when you sleep? Also it's patchy, better to get it all off
Haha I really don't know either but I can guarantee I would do the same for no good reason!!
It was probably overwhelming joy that I could control something in my life again but I get how emotional she was - nothing prepares you for it if it isn't something you truly want, even when you know it's coming
thanks for sharing your story! hopefully you’re doing better 🫶
Hope you on the road to recovery nowxxx
Praying that the good Lord will bring healing upon you in Jesus' name. Amen🙏
My hair means so much to me that I cannot even fathom losing it. I feel for you and understand how traumatizing all of that must have been
Prayers For Everyone Thank You Lord We Love You Lord Thank You In Jesus Christ Holy Name AMEN
A good keratin treatment gives you the same effect. Then the curl will come back.
That last one made me cry with her. Thank goodness hair grows back.
Same, discovered I have coils 😊 over 35 years relaxing and my head feels free.
I grew up hating my hair but I’m learning that having healthy hair that I don’t necessarily love is better than having no hair at all 😂😂
Best thing I could have done was go natural but just color or bleach safely with ALL MY CORRECT TOOLS or Brad Mondo tutorials ❤

These videos don’t ordinarily make me cry, but I just want to give that last poor girl a hug 🥺
I had a hairdresser who would relax my hair. But, there was a product that helped 'stretch' your relaxer so you could go longer in between. She thought it was a good idea to use both. Essentially, double relaxing my hair. It felt like straw and then just started snapping off. This was a licensed professional!
GIRL NOOOO I'm so sorry! That sounds like a NIGHTMARE.
Oh noooooooo 😩
So imma just say this, black woman can literally pull any hair off. Like from big hair, to straight, to freaking bald! They literally rock everything

Hi Brad
Seconding this! Would love to see a video of how to apply something like this correctly so that you don't end up with melted/snapped off hair.
There isn’t much brad is familiar with tbh.
I'm somebody who relaxes their hair and I literally had the exact same reaction as you when the COMBING started, OMG.
I was yelling at my phone like WHYYYYYY ugh those poor girls
As someone who grew up on relaxers until like 6 years ago... These are PAINFUL to watch. Not a single time in my LIFE relaxer did this to me and I would do it myself. Most I ever got was scalp burns. I almost cried with these girls.
Remember these ladies hair is bleached and already chemically processed, so a relaxer on top will make your hair fall out as we see. 3rd lady did not comb out & detangle her hair then relaxing it and that can make it fall out too.
How is he always so positive ... he is one of those people that I put on when I have a bad day ... he is always a ray of sun shine ...
The way I’ve been watching Brad since high school and I’m in my 20s now 🥹😪💜 never get tired of these
As someone who just got diagnosed with PCOS - yeah.
I had no idea it was so dangerous. 😮
This made me cry. I have only once helped a friend put on relaxer and the instructions are so specific. I feel so sorry for them.
I'm glad they healed 🥹
omg.. I have a tender head and just reading this made me recoil. so glad you have a better hair experience now 😭
Years?? Dear Lord…..
People around me have been trying to get me to relax my hair and always make side comments on how I’m stressing myself by keeping natural hair and how it’s not worth it, but whenever I style my hair or curl it they’re the same people that end up being amazed and ask me what I do to make my hair grow like that and to tell them what products and methods I use, crazy people 🙄😂😂
12:19 I don't think I've ever seen anyone relax their eyebrows and who the hell let her think it was okay to apply it like that?!
Brow lamination is a kinda type of relaxer but it's more gentle. Same with lash lifts.
Something tells me it was an impulsive decision 🙈
Right she didn’t even do the middle 😂🤦🏽♀️
Brads genuine horror at the first one. He also has so much empathy which is super wholesome 😊
Love ❤ you Brad. Thank you for always making us feel beautiful even when we screw things up.
These videos never get old.
There's a video I keep hoping he'll react to from gigi beauty. She relaxed her hair twice on the same day and was cracking up the whole time. It was hilarious
Not Ever!
Classique Mondo 🤌🏼
As someone with coily hair , I used to get relaxers alll the time . This is giving me flashbacks lol . I’ve had a few times when the breakage was real . But wheww luckily my hair has never fallen out . I am currently letting the last relaxer grow out and i am staying natural.
I held up a mirror during the intro because brad deserves these amazing compliments that he gives us
I didn't expect to get so emotional watching this video, specially the last girl. I hope all these beautiful ladies are doing great now. ❤
It was heartbreaking 💔
Nothing makes me feel more beautiful then Brad Mondo saying "hi beautiful" literally melts my souls ❤
I got legit chills watching the last video. Poor ladies. I'm glad they posted it anyway because as embarrassing as it is, its educational.
I’ve been wanting to relax my hair because there’s so much of it now but after watching this video I will continue to stay natural.
Just become a straight hair natural with heat
I love how Brad says “Hello Beautiful” of the start of every video :)
This one made me cry a little. Sending everybody good vibes
I chose, the minute I first decided to ever work on my hair myself, that I am 100% good with the possibility of going with a bald look if things go wrong lol.
I've felt great doing anything with my hair since.
I understand how rad and fun hair can be, but if you want a tip, I'd advise:
If you're gonna do anything related to your hair yourself, *be ready to be bald*.
brad truly goes through the whole rollercoaster of emotions just for us
i screamed when i thought she was eating that relaxer like icing off her fingers
Hmmmmmm yummy
Can I just say how gorgeous Brad looks here? His hair is so fluffy, soft and so beautiful!! And the hoodie and rings compliment him so much
He’s always gorgeous
@@Mrs.NRalphs I agree! Although something seemed to have hit me with his beauty in this video haha
Thanks for making an awesome purple and I’ll be using that one every time I want purple again.
as a long time fan of brad, this is the first time i’ve seen him go totally speechless and SHOOK lollll
When the first fail was paused and brad was talking I was stressed in a way feeling like his pause on the video was real time and the relaxer was still relaxing 😭
This was so incredibly sad to watch. All these women are so beautiful.❤
Prayers for all these beautiful ladies.x
Anyone else love it when Brad says ‘hi beautiful’ I actually feel like he’s talking to me 🥹
The first girl was giving unhiiiiiiiinged NO GLOVES BLEACHED HAIR THEN TAKING HER RING OFF WITH HER MOUTH 😭😭😭😭
Oh my goodness, my heart broke for that first girl.
Not me because she made so many errors and instructions are always on the side of relaxer boxes
The 1st and 2nd girl put relaxer on bleached hair, NO!!!
AWWWwww...Those poor ladies. Broke my heart, seeing them cry like that.😱😢
This video made me feel really uncomfortable and almost cry ...only by empathy .., also I love that hoodie on you ❤ and thank you for great advices in every video ❤ 🎉
I'm not even a hairstylist but I know not to put relaxer on bleached hair and don't bleach or permanently dye your hair on recently relaxed hair either.
1. Thank you for enduring this
2. These really were hard to watch
Gave me chills
When she started combing it, I felt that scream in my soul too Brad 😭😱
Aww, the last one was heartbreaking!!! 😢 I am so sorry, ladies!
I like that you actually care about people.
