Great review. Would love to see you guys reviews the Wandla when it comes out!
This is one of the headphone amps on my short list since CanJam NYC this year.
Amazing combo, thoroughly enjoyed it for 1.5 years. Fully recommended and it's great value punching way above its weight
I understand the context, and where the reviewer is coming from, but when you make this statement “seems to make a difference“ about an item that cost more than $1000 then we can’t be surprised people think the headphone hobby is insane.
Thank you for your great review! Two days after your video I ordered the OOR (B-stock) from a dealer here in Germany because I wanted to compare it to my Violectric HPA 200AE. The headphones I use are Sennheiser HD 800s and Hifiman Arya Stealth. What can I say... after playing 3 Songs from my "Reference" Playlist (only for a few seconds) I already decided to keep the OOR! Such an improvement on both headphones. To make it simple: EVERYTHING sounded better and more natural (e.g. vocals, acoustic guitars). Bass has more punch, but it's also "clearer". Really happy with the OOR. And of course I will also give HYPSOS a try the coming days. Thanks again for your inspiring content.
Great review. Very interesting setup!
Any plans to measure/review the Gustard R26?
I have an Oor/Hypsos and I freaking love it. Amazing amp.
Which DAC and source?
@@johnratcliffe6438 Holo Red & Gustard R26
How does the ferrum oor compare the the Holo bliss? I'm looking for an upgrade to my RebelAmp
Great video, Thanks! Currently I employ the Hypsos and Oor as pert of my system and quite like them. Do you have any plans to review the new Wandla DAC from Ferum?
What does Wandla mean?
I know Oor name is from Dutch/Nederlands, is this one too? I know that Wandlamp means a wall lamp in Dutch, translate also says Wandla means "He ate" in Zulu :D
@@Peace_Guard Not sure. Isn’t there a fish called Wandla? 🙂
Nice one Cameron, it’s a good amp for sure
Nice review! I have an Erco with Hypsos and a lot of your impressions on the Oor line up with what I hear from my Erco.
Is this the guy who killed MQA and made Bob Stuart redundant 😂
Yes this is Golden Sound
The rusty panel was cool.
I have been using the Oor alone for about a year and am very satisfied. This year I have saved up some money and I am thinking of getting the hypsos to get the full experience
Unlike goldensounds critique i found that the hypsos absolutely changed the sound signature in such a way that it was worth every cent. Especially on the used market.
Plz a make a video explaining different classes of amplifiers
Been a _long_ time coming. Now give us a properly detailed 40+ minute review over on your channel Golden.
Couple of small disagreements I have, having owned the Oor&Hypsos since early August, and used it as my daily driver amp. I find it's quite good at taming sibilance in the chain. Be it from the music or from a headphone that has just a bit too much bite. I also find my stance on its worth reversed from yours. I feel like the Oor by itself is a little over-priced, but the Oor+Hypsos is absolutely worth the price. The Hypsos really does make the Oor that much better.
Utterly delusional take. Classic audiophiles. "I wasn't impressed by the combination, but then I added my silver dragon extreme interconnects, and the sound came to life". 😂
Looking forward to the Heavys review
Pretty great combo
Hi can share more on the preamp part of the oor? Thanks
11 months later - is there any way to get a sound as refined and neutral as the Ferrum Oor + Hypsos in a smaller package? at any budget? just tested the Lake People G108 and preferred the Oor without Hypsos to the G108
it would be nice to have a comparison of the OOR with the Burson Soloist Voyager
I use the Hypsos to power a Chord Hugo MScaler. It is a large improvement.
Thoughts on DAC pairing? Ferrum Wandla or with others?
Please compare with the Violectric V550.
Man's flexing on us with the ltt screwdriver
I must say I really enjoy this setup. It's clean without being sterile, which I thoroughly appreciate.
What in the F does that actually mean
@@Karim-ik5ij Lololol Apparently it really means that I'm not the best at describing things to other people well. I was trying to reiterate GoldenSound's evaluation that it doesn't sound as harsh and clinical as the D90 for example while still not sounding colored (IE, "clean").
@@eruilluvitar Oh ok, out of curiosity, have you done volume matched blind testing?
@@Karim-ik5ij Yes, I've randomized blind tested the D90 feeding this vs the A90 and preferred this. I've also randomized blind tested this against the GS-X Mini and Singxer SA-1, both of which come across warmer than this does.
@@eruilluvitar Nice. Big differences? Or marginal?
Why not their all in one though, the Erco?
How does it compare to the gsx mini?
Some amps are bigger than others but does size really matter?
How does it compare to the Burson 3?
Would love to see Smirnoff's df metric for these.
Abyss 1266 review please 🙏
That's a nice looking screwdriver. Almost as nice as our sponsor...
It is possible to get both for $1800 used these days which is a great price!
The question for me is Oor+Hypsos or Bliss?
For which headphone? Bliss is more spacious, Oor has more detail. Both great.
@@krisrudecki9477 Verite Closed and Atrium Open. Caldera to come.
@@johnratcliffe6438 hmm thats tough. Both will do an amazing job. Bliss will have a wider stage and Ferrum will have more micro details from my experience. Had both at home for a few weeks.
But I would also consider HA6a or HA300MK2, both will be bettter for dynamic drivers, Ferrum and Bliss will be cleaner though ...
TLDR is you can't go wrong. Buy one, enjoy, a year later get another one and do a shootout. That's how I do it.
@@johnratcliffe6438 for what its worth Ferrum has a litttle bit more and tigghter bass, and is a bit faster and tighter in general. Bliss is a little bit more laid back and spacious. If you want max detail then Ferrum imo, if you want max stage then Bliss.
@@krisrudecki9477 Super useful. Sounds like I need both! 🤣
The OOR costs 2 grand. Can you recommend any combination of DAC (somewhere below $3k) and the OOR, below 5 grand total, that would beat the Chord TT2?
I had the TT2 & M-Scaler and found it a bit too analytical for me. Sold them. I now have the Gustard A26 DAC paired with the latest/New Burson Soloist 3X GT amp with a Lokius in between them. I like the synergy of this combo way more than the TT2 & M-Scaler. This proved to me that higher price doesn't always equal better results. With all that said, check out the Gustard A26 (Delta Sigma) and the R26 (R2R). Both are excellent bang for the buck DACS.
ASR Topping poors out in force I see
Why is a simple mic input on an amp so rare, and whenever it is, why is it almost always called a gaming dac/amp
Because it's not a feature that most people are wanting, and also, for a lot of people in the high end audio market, the inclusion of such a feature would actually put them off buying the product because people would worry about what compromises needed to be made to include that feature, how much added cost there is etc, and they would rather have a dedicated headphone amp.
When spending this much anyway it's generally best to get a proper audio interface like a Motu M2 and then the headphone stuff separate
@@GoldenSound When making this comment, I didn't realize this was a multi thousand dollar amp, I'm talking more on the cheaper end. The expensive shit makes total sense, you wouldn't want to compromise the whole entire sound for a nice 3.5mm mic input.
Voice over track needs de-essing.
If this has more noise and distortion than the THX based - how can you say this is 'more neutral'. Seems backwards
Preferred the format of goldensound’s original RUclips channel.😒
hard disagree actually. felt too zeos to me.
If the amplifier has a flat frequency response it should have a neutral sound signature not a warm sound signature.
No you sound fantastic. : fiio btr7, krypton 5 w/ pure silver palladium graphene mixed cable.
