      Vertical alignment is a key difference. Advantages with both however when it is done a way for a certain amount of item the material are adapted an sized for it.
      I think even the bag you get insulation from are different. You have more rectangular, which I think is for tighter transport costs. We are use more to rolls, which can in some case be cut while in the bag rolled up surprisingly accurately with a careful technique.

    I watched this because I have recently moved from a traditional plastered house to a dry lined one. Now I understand what is behind the lining and I'm much happier about small DIY jobs. Thanks.

    I was a general foreman for a huge contractor, then a contracts mananager,in charge of multi million pound contracts, we used to use a team of contract guys for dry walling who were the tops, one guy mixed the adhesive, in a huge tub as you see here while the other guys were measuring and cutting the sheets, the mixer guy did not move from the middle of the floor, he scooped and threw with deadly accuracy the daubs onto the walls , as fast as he worked the other guys were placing the boards in place, a real team effort.Their work was faultless, swift clean efficient and skilled.

    They guys are very good, clean and productive. As an American, we would furr the wall with framing strips and attach the gypsum panel. I am curious as to why not just plaster the wall? They still have to come back and treat the joints with a two to three coats, right? I am not critical, they are pros. But wouldn't people want skim coat plaster? We would do what we call two coat veneer. a thin sand coat then a smooth gypsum when it sets, but not dry.

      in America most new homes dont even have plaster on the wall just taped drywall so insalation and accoustic dampening is much less than in the UK. There is a very small proportion of plasterers in the US most people use Mud unlike in the UK where every home has plaster walls which are much more durable so.........

    This is perfectly good workmanship. For the other viewers on here looking to learn something, you may or may not be aware but the boards adjacent to an entry and egress, i.e. a doorway have to have so many mechanical fixings to hold the boards in situ in the event of a fire to allow for the occupants to escape. If they don't have the fixings and the boards come off the wall they can block the exit point and trap people inside.

    I get my electrician to coil the wires into the back box screwed on the wall. Hold the board in position, give it a few taps over the back box, you’ll have a perfect mark left on the board to cut out.

    • @clarkey1977

      Nothing wrong with installing GWB (gypsum wall board) directly onto concrete or CMU (concrete masonry units) walls as shown in this video. All the required insulation will be on the outside of the CMU resulting in the dew point being well outside the outer face of the CMU. With this assembly the CMU wall will be the same temperature as the interior living space. Bingo, a dry wall assembly and no mould. Very professional job with pride in workmanship evident. Well done lads

    For fire and smoke safety it is best to have a continuous line off dab around the whole outside of the board. No gaps. Ok to have gaps in the middle.

  • @BMCliveinside1
    @BMCliveinside1 5 лет назад +10

    Nice work, I'd definitely recommend sealing the blockwork first though. I was on site with a rep from gyproc who said 40% of those dabs will fail in the first 6 weeks if you don't. The block is too soft and dusty and when the dabs dry out or movement in the build from settlement etc the dabs will blow.

      Some wet PVA or acrylic primer, or even plasterers blue grit although the latter two are quite expensive and probably over kill. It just wants to be able to soak a few mm into the block and then dry to strengthen the powdery loose surface that the block inheritally has.

    To the fools banging on about insulation....this is clearly a cavity wall construction. There'll be brick on the outside, then insulation and then the blockwork they're dabbing onto.

      Have hung miles of drywall this way does anyone know y it's called drywall dip shit its the sameas a plaster wall only its dry when you apply it hence the name drywall .. And in most condo or commercial applications there is 2 layers of 5/8 drywall 2 HR rating them there is shaft wall liner better known as coreboard wich comes in 12' x2' 1 1/2'' thick boards. And it's applied and built using J track and CH studs best and fastest system out there thats American

    Impressive speed. I've just finished boarding my kitchen ready for plastering but I am holding back because some guy said I need to make sure I have a 2mm gap all the way round my boards but my boards are touching so I might have to cut gaps all the way round my boards, or doesn't it matter?

      They are supposed to touch each other, for fireproof and soundproof plasterboards. Just leave the 2 mm gap between the walls and ceilings. In case of vibration you have that 2mm with cilicone to prevent cracks.
