This guy is a genius at his craft. You can tell he has worked hard at bee coming this good. It may not be the way we do things in the US but maybe it’s time!
Vertical alignment is a key difference. Advantages with both however when it is done a way for a certain amount of item the material are adapted an sized for it. I think even the bag you get insulation from are different. You have more rectangular, which I think is for tighter transport costs. We are use more to rolls, which can in some case be cut while in the bag rolled up surprisingly accurately with a careful technique.

I was a general foreman for a huge contractor, then a contracts mananager,in charge of multi million pound contracts, we used to use a team of contract guys for dry walling who were the tops, one guy mixed the adhesive, in a huge tub as you see here while the other guys were measuring and cutting the sheets, the mixer guy did not move from the middle of the floor, he scooped and threw with deadly accuracy the daubs onto the walls , as fast as he worked the other guys were placing the boards in place, a real team effort.Their work was faultless, swift clean efficient and skilled.
This is well wrong. They should have started from a door casing or a plasterboarded wall. The reveals should have bin done in advanced and started with the top one first then the sides and left to go hard before putting the window wall on. Oh no fail
I refurbish bathrooms for a living and I'm quite deft at drylining but i couldn't do it full time because its proper hard work! I also wonder to myself when demolishing bathrooms in old houses the labour that was involved back the day with lathe and plaster! Must have been a right faff.
I do all my own work as I am fussy but these boys are real professional, I haven't seen many who are as good and careful with returns on windows but so quick.
They guys are very good, clean and productive. As an American, we would furr the wall with framing strips and attach the gypsum panel. I am curious as to why not just plaster the wall? They still have to come back and treat the joints with a two to three coats, right? I am not critical, they are pros. But wouldn't people want skim coat plaster? We would do what we call two coat veneer. a thin sand coat then a smooth gypsum when it sets, but not dry.
All these gimps commenting on the video have no idea how homes are built in the UK or where the insulation goes, Nothing wrong with this build at all. Nice vid.
in America most new homes dont even have plaster on the wall just taped drywall so insalation and accoustic dampening is much less than in the UK. There is a very small proportion of plasterers in the US most people use Mud unlike in the UK where every home has plaster walls which are much more durable so.........
This is perfectly good workmanship. For the other viewers on here looking to learn something, you may or may not be aware but the boards adjacent to an entry and egress, i.e. a doorway have to have so many mechanical fixings to hold the boards in situ in the event of a fire to allow for the occupants to escape. If they don't have the fixings and the boards come off the wall they can block the exit point and trap people inside.
It's only impressive if you don't care about the horrific noise and resonance problems that wall will suffer. Search for "NHBC wall linings and acoustic performance" to see what using a few spread-out dabs like this will do to noise performance.
You sound like a proper jobsworth. No one's arsed about noise performance. Nothing wrong with the dabs either, solid (picture frame) where they need to be.

Nice bit of work I started using a laser offset from the block work about 100 mm and using a straight edge to work from the laser back to the face of the board found it a bit quicker and more accurate Than the old school way on long runs
excellent video, that was great to watch, bloody skilled men they are, no messing about..would one bag of adhesive equal to about one plasterboard? i am going to stick three on a wall, and wondered how much adhesive i would need, thanks again for that video, very helpful for people like me
Nice work, I'd definitely recommend sealing the blockwork first though. I was on site with a rep from gyproc who said 40% of those dabs will fail in the first 6 weeks if you don't. The block is too soft and dusty and when the dabs dry out or movement in the build from settlement etc the dabs will blow.
Some wet PVA or acrylic primer, or even plasterers blue grit although the latter two are quite expensive and probably over kill. It just wants to be able to soak a few mm into the block and then dry to strengthen the powdery loose surface that the block inheritally has.
To the fools banging on about insulation....this is clearly a cavity wall construction. There'll be brick on the outside, then insulation and then the blockwork they're dabbing onto.
