There maybe a reason for dozing uphill but it’s something you always avoid doing and also after each cycle he needs to give the blade a flick to release the dirt off it

Bit of an over view of what he's doing and why would have been nice, sounds like the exhaust manifold is blowing and it needs new grouser bars welding on them track pads.
I remember them tractors when they first came out, I was still driving a D6D bone shaker and the new guy got a Komatsu D41px it was fantastic, power, smooth, quiet, hell you could even have a conversation on the phone while driving it lol

The over view was on the first video on that project. Search for the others, maybe?

good catch there Alan. but methinks the machine is a wee bit light and the track cleats are too shallow.
But I understand the area is very small to work in, so they have to use what will get in there.

Thanks Wayne. You're probably right - it may not be ideal but it will do the job.

Ok three factors from a experienced plant operator, here , to reduce material you gradually load the blade dozing around the contour keeping the blade straight while the tracks are compacting for a firmer footing underneath, you never dip your blade or change the angle while dozing, also your tracks should be Firmer to reduce slippage on the sprockets !!!

OK Three factors from an experienced film-maker,
It's not my dozer, and I'd never seen it before,
It's not my land and I was invited there to film it - for fun.
The whole job was five years ago or more (that clip was the last of several).
Thanks anyway for taking the trouble to write.

That operator is going to have to replace those tracks soon because he likes to spin them

Right machine for the job, anything bigger or on conventional tracks would have trouble doing that. Pushing up hill is never the best but if the man paying the bill wants it done that way , then thats whats U do, customer is always right. I have been operating dozers for over 50 yrs now and to me that would be the best tool for the job. The old saying " you can only F---K with the d--k U were born with, so in other words use what tools U have, which in this case is a D61.
