- A snow storm rolled into Sioux Falls on January 5, 2015. Chyanne was dismissed early from school, so I went to pick her up. After deciding not to try to take her home, then go back to work we returned to the station, packed up my stuff and headed home. Here's what we encountered.
Wow! that's incredible..so much snow..
I love watching road videos, they're pretty fun to watch...to me that is. :) :P
Tip from Montreal Canada: Put heat full-blast on the windshield defroster mode and turn the wipers down a notch; try to keep them on the mist or "Intermittent" speed as much as possible. Also avoid using the widshield-washer. Instead turn the wipers off when you are behind another vehicle for 10 seconds or so and use the spray from the car in front of you (washer fluid will freeze and completely block your view for up to several minutes. And ALWAYS keep a bag of kitty litter (traction for when you are stuck) blankets, flashlight, space heater, water bottles, a small shovel and a pair of socks and gloves - toe and finger warmers if you can find them, in a little box in the trunk In case you fly off the road and help may take a while. NEVER SLAM THE BRAKES! especially if the car starts to fishtail or slide :) :)
ParteeDowne tip from Montana: in winter use winter formula windshield washer fluid with alcohol in it and it wont freeze when you use it.
Apply the tobacco powder from a cigarette on your windshield olfrom outside, it works out well for me. Try it.
Also, drive a tad slower....like 30 mph or more slower!!
the whole wiper thing...... no comment...... you should know better if you live in SD ;)
lol snow storm?? look like just a little bit of light snow.... My last snow storm I couldn't even see across the street and there was a foot and a half of snow on the ground in 1 hour...I still went out driving fun as fuck.
Being a swede I have had these conditions fairly often. good tires are the important part. fresh winter tires performs wonders!
I am glad I visited SD on july 2019 during summer.
Haha haha haha Ronald, I bet you are!!
You need new wiper blades

PIAA's wiper will be my only choice.
If you pause it at 0:35, he just needed to remove the ice build up on the blade.
I agree, better wipes would've helped.
If you live in SD you know it's a bad idea to try to use wipers in an ice storm. The only way to fix this is to spray de-icer on them.
welcome to south Dakota! land of the crazy snow storms
My Grandpa was from South Dakota and he hated it! He was of 12 kids (I forget where he was in succession).
Wow, I live in Texas. never could imagine that much ice and snow.
You're missing out!! It's actually a lot of fun!!!
There doesn't appear to be any really steep hills there. It's pretty hilly here in suburban Seattle and it's a real *bummer* when snow accumulates to more than 3-4 inches.
When it snows here in Pennsylvania, I don't go anywhere. My work is only a mile from home and I walk that, if I have to.
You are absolutely truly smart Matt and I respect that!!!! 👍👍👏👏👏👏👏
It's crazy during the winter. We still go school on snow days.
Oh no, you've gotta be kidding, kids go to school in that much snow?? Now that's pure CRAZY and DANGEROUS!!! ❄❄❄❄❄
I live in MN and just watching this caused a mild panic attack. I fricking hate driving in stuff like that. hehe. Great video!
Oh yes, I know what you mean, I hate driving in the snow too, I just won't do it, I just stay home!!! I'am so happy that I am retired!!! 😊😉
deicing fluid in the washer tank and keep spray it , stops the blades from re-icing , snow tires,
very glad you both made it home ok...
I used to live in Norfolk Virginia. If it snows two or three inches there (which is rare), everything shuts down for two or three days which is about how long it takes for the snow to melt away!
I say smart people in Norfolk Virginia!!
This looks so odd to me since I'm from Miami and I only seen snow one time in my life this video was cool tho.
God Bless!!!
I love Sioux Falls. I lived in Sioux Falls for two years but the snow storms forced me to move to Texas.
Texas is also getting snowstorms I hear.
Reminds me of Arizona. Believe it or not...... the northern part of the state looks like this during the winter! I'm heading there in a couple of weeks!
Be careful!!!
I know someone in Watertown, SD so I hear all the time about negative temps and snow! I love snow. I hate that I'm in CT and this year it has yet to really snow
I live in SF and I don't even know where u were at can't see anything lol
Put some rubbing alcohol in for wiper fluid and keep a spray bottle full (can dilute it 1/2 & 1/2 w/water) to defrost your side windows.😉
Won't that hurt the car's paint?
Just curious, What kind of car were you driving?
Sweet. Thanks heaps. :D
"PANAMA RELOCATION TOURS!! WITH JACKIE!!🙋 😊 👍❤ 👈"
Awesome new here
I live there!!! in SF, SD
Im moving up their this month for work, im so freaked out now, born and raised 26 years in texas...i dont know how im gonna do this lol.
@@khearst21 Very CAREFULLY I hope!!! ❄🚗❄🚗❄🚛❄🚚❄🚙❄🚕❄🚒❄🚑❄🚐❄🚔❄🚓
So what is the big deal ?? I grew up in no WI and now live in no IL....have been in a lot worse.....and I have working wipers.
what car you drive? does it have 4x4?
Whats funny is that same day we never got school cancelled or dismissed early...
Or maybe it did... i don't remember
I certainly hope that your school dismissed you kids early, that's just CRAZY not too!!
Way too fast!
That's also what I said too! Way too fast!!! SLOW DOWN!!!
That's why in Russia they use studded winter tires, what do you call "Snow storm" at the very usual snowfall, we have half a year this weather....and yes, you need wiper blades...
Studded snow tires have long since been outlawed in the state of SD! And chains are only good for about 40 miles, at best & not legal to use in the city limits {except for the plows & graders}. Previat!
Andrey Bochkarev Most of the YT crash compilations are from Russia. Excessive speeds and overtaking other vehicles while driving a roller skate sized car smh
do u it seems have ice on your blades stop and clean em
Nice video but it sounded like your audio was way off!
Are there buses in town?
This is way I live in Phoenix Az
I hear that Arizona is also receiving snow.
You should have a Subaru Forester.
No, a Toyota Land Cruiser
subaru xv?
Е мае, у людей выпало совсем чуть чуть снега, а они уже все изнемогли....
Global warming is making me soooooo cold
Damn he got stuck
Dude, you need to move back to whatever dry road city you came from if it scares you this much to drive in that little amount of snow, and get your tires changed to snow tires.
This is Normal Canadian Winter Weather.
BeyondChange this is normal here aswell.
Oh that's TERRIBLE BeyondChange!!
Well, I certaintly hope that you didn't go to work the very next day! Can't you find work closer to your home? You just drive way too far for driving in the snowy and icy conditions for my taste!! Be safe!
Fun fact: if you drive slow in this weather, chances are you will get hit. To all those people that think he's going too fast is dumb . The slower you go, chances are you'll get in to a pickle. Only South Dakotans know that
Stupid comments.
Stop talking
