Well done, you looked comfortable on the big bike considering you just got on it for the first time, so I think you bought the right bike for yourself 👏
Hello from Cornwall! that's a nice bike, and I'm looking forward to getting my 125, in a few weeks, then go on from there, and look forward to seeing more adventures
@@peteberry6425 Hi from Warwickshire! Which 125cc are you looking at getting? There will be plenty of adventures we will share amd look forward to hearing about yours also. 😊👍
Congratulations on passing your test, and choice of bike. I bought the same year as you, just over a year ago ( after 20 years away from motorcycles) I’ve done about 4 1/2 thousand miles on mine and the furthest I’ve been is Wales ( up to now ). I really am glad I picked the Tracer, I’m 5’8 and have the seat on its lowest setting but I can’t get my feet flat to ground on it. Just take your time and you’ll find it gets better with the more you ride. I struggled with the side stand position too when I first got it, but I seem to have found a way of flicking it out by turning my foot inwards and I can get it ok then. I look forward to watching your further adventures with the bike, ride safe.
Firstly thank you so much for commenting. Very pleased with the Tracer so far. With regards to the height I found that wearing boots with a slightly raised heel/sole helps. I have to be mindful of the camber of the road and decide which foot I am putting down. This can be quite tricky when doing a hill start if the camber isn't forgiving. As for the side stand I found a technique that works for me by folding the foot peg up with my heel and then catching the side stand with my toes on the way down to the floor. (Hope that makes sense!) Wales is beautiful to ride around. I still want to ride the Brecon Beacons. The furthest I have travelled on the Tracer is Scotland via the Lake District so far... But hoping to explore Europe in the future! We would highly recommend Scotland (we avoided motorways). Ride safe, further adventures coming soon :-)
Congratulations on passing your test and the new bike. My riding partner Carol went for a Street Triple as her first bike, again a triple cylinder bike. Enjoy & take care.
Nice to see my local town in a video. Maybe see you at a Bikers Inc meet sometime (if it ever stops raining), they usually meet Fridays after 5pm at The Crown Inn, Claverdon.
Congratulations on passing your test and the new bike, hopefully many miles n smiles ahead of you. When you feel the time is right I would highly recommend doing IAM or ROSPA trg well worth it IMHO
Thank you! I am planning on doing the advanced training with RMT, then Bike Safe with Warwickshire Police. Also want to do some off road training experience to increase my skill set.
Welcome to the world of biking, I hope you enjoy many happy years on 2 wheels. It's also nice to see my home area and local dealer too, stay shiny side up! 👍
@@Beginner2BadassBiker I have a few bikes but this year have been riding my Royal Enfield Interceptor, unfortunately not as much as I hoped due to work and injury. Hopefully I will get out if we have some good weather 🤞 How are you getting on with the Tracer? I hear they are good bikes 👍
Congrats on the mod 2 pass and your first big bike. I had a Tracer 900 GT and loved it (until it was murdered by a car). It is quite a tall bike even at 5'9" but I must have short legs 'cos I struggle flat footing most bikes 😂. Only problem with it for me was the windshield was shockingly bad and the aftermarket one I bought wasn't much better at higher speeds. Other than that the triple engine is sublime and in sport mode it's a rocket. Enjoy all your future rides and stay shiny side up. 🥰
Thanks! RIP Tracer 900GT. Yes it is a tall bike, the low seat setting helps. Yeah there are very few bikes I can flat foot as well. This bike actually came with an aftermarket screen (Puig). If I am honest because I was riding the Zontes then the Suzuki SV650 for my training neither had any wind protection so I noticed a difference on the Tracer with it having a windshield. Yes in sport 'A Mode' it is a rocket, I now keep it in standard. More than enough for me at the moment lol Thanks! I plan to. Ride safe :-)
Well done! Loved riding motorcycles since 1967, and it's great to see new bikers getting the bug. I envy the training you've had - for me, it was get on it, crash a zillion times, and wise up. Plus, you've got such a choice of really good machines to choose from - in the 1960s and '70s, the choice was miserable - they only invented real brakes and frames that weren't made of jelly in the '80s. As for lights, don't start me on that one. I doubled the power of my headlamp on my Triumph 650 by installing a couple of candles.. Ride safe!
How things have come along over the years. Thanks for the comment, really made me laugh. Will be interesting to see where bikes will be in the future. Are you still riding the Triumph 650?
@@Beginner2BadassBiker OMG no! That is long in the past. I'm an old man now, I ride an old man's bike. BMW R1250RT, 2022. Having an ashtray and a drinks cabinet installed soon. Might replace the TFT screen for a cigar box.😆
Congratulations! You have bought a really nice bike. I am a 5ft 3 lady and there is no way I could reach the floor on that even with a lower seat :-) Enjoy it, it looks fun 👍
Thank You! I do love my new bike, I am very happy with it. Yeah at 5ft 3 you would struggle. I have changed my motorcycle footwear for more protection and they also happen to give a bit extra reach to the floor which is a bonus =) Sure they will feature in another video soon.
Welcome to the tracer 900 club! I've had my 2015 for for 5 years or so...fantastic bike. I've only had a couple of issues. First was the uncomfy seat (for me anyway), so I use an Airhawk...and the second is a common problem with the automatic timing chain tensioner - if it ever gets noisy, replace it with a manual tensioner (a cheap/easy/long-term fix). My tracer is all loaded up for a long trip to Devon and Cornwall this week :)
Thanks, the best club! It is an awesome bike. Thank you for sharing the knowledge, always greatly appreciated. Amazing, have a great trip away. Hope the weather is kind to you or you have packed some good waterproofs! :-)
Happy new bike, always an exciting time. Think you should invest in some bike boots too, trainers are not a good idea on a bike. Enjoy the ride and stay safe.
Congrats on the test! But keep the bike in good Knick, you’ll likely wanna trade it in a year or two. You’ll enjoy it regardless. Also, for the discussing pros/cons, do that after the test ride runs out lol don’t waste time! Is annoying how few bikes have backlit switchgear… annoying! But you do get used to funny kickstand positions living with it.
Thanks! I plan to keep it in good knick, already applied my ACF50 and wash it regularly. Great advice! In future test rides I definitely will do that. Yeah backlit switch gears should just be standard in my opinion lol. Getting use to the kickstand position now though.
Well done on passing your test ,you did more miles on your 125 in a year than alot of people do in 3 ,it will be invaluable experience. My one suggestion now would be to give mark Hammond a call, of HM suspensions in Chippenham and go get the bike set up for you ,it will be night and day difference and you could make a vlog on it .,hopefully see you guys about your only 4 miles up the Road Brett
Thanks Brett for the continued support and advice. Greatly appreciated. Maybe something I look at in the future. Clocking up the miles already on the Tracer. What bike are you riding and I will keep my eyes peeled when we are riding locally 😊
Had the MT09 SP I found the engine a bit vibey through the bars. Ended up getting rid of it. But the bike it's self handled superbly. Personally I wouldn't get a bike that's to big for you as it will eventually bite you on your arse. I can speak from experience. I'm 5ft 8ins Fairly big build, Believe me when the bike starts to go you won't be able to hold it. Safe riding anyway.
Thanks for the comment. With the seat on it's lowest setting I am able to get enough contact with the ground, but agree that if the bike did go past it's "tipping point" there is no stopping it (but I experienced this on my 125cc) I appreciate that the Tracer is heavier and I am not a body builder LOL What bike are you riding now after getting rid of the MT09?
I lot its not about pros and cons its about what you feel when riding it. the hight isnt an issue as i'm the same hight and when riding my ZX12R I cot myself some Daytona M-star Gor-tex GTX boots they cost a lot but OMG are they nice warm and dry with an ich on the outside and an inch on the inside you will be able to flat foot it, even now with riding a H2sx se the seat hight is a lot lower but now I can flat foot and bend my leg LOL making easy to push backwards and be on the bike WOW. its hard been 5' 6". I know that feeling of getting a bike that you want and not one just to get you through the test. Enjoy and ride safe
I have purchased some new boots (Alpinestar) tried the lady daytona boots but unfortunately they didn't fit my feet as I have lymphoedema. But my new Alpinestar boots have quite a big sole on them so give me extra reach. Thanks for the tip though :-) Really appreciate it and sure it will help someone else reading the comment :-)
Good luck with your test in 2025! As you are probably aware insurance is based on so many different factors. For me it was just a change of bike as already had insurance on the 125cc, so just paid the difference until I have my full 1 year NC bonus so I don't yet know what my renewal price will be.
The mod 2 went well. Passed first time with 2 minors. I found the mod 2 easier than the mod 1. Though that being said I felt like I held my breath for the whole of the mod 2 (wouldn't advise anyone to do that) but was very relieved to get it passed first time. Glad you are enjoying the content, thanks for the comment 😊👍
