There is a woman here in the States that buys old photos and then tries to find the families they belong to. She has had amazing success. 🙂🌈🐈🐈⬛💖
Aw that's so cool!!
How does she identify the people in the photos? Can you provide a name or link to her? I'd like to check it out.
I did something like that. I bought a chest of drawers at an Estate Sale. In the bottom drawer was an envelope with antique photos and a type written letter. The woman wrote, she wanted the photos to go an Historical Society in a small town in North Dakota. I couldn’t find an Historical Society online. Instead, I mailed to the photos to the small Post Office in the town, along with a letter explaining how I got the photos etc. What happened next really surprised me! I received a hand written “Thank You” letter from the woman takes care of the town’s historical information. She told me where the photos would be displayed in the town too. This made me feel real good. I was glad I made the right decision on where to send then. 😊
Fantastic finds ladies. I enjoy your adventures. Thanks. 👏👍😊
Its always sad to see these old photos for sale, but we have to remember that these persons and their loved ones lived in another era and they all gone now. Lets just be happy that someone felt that these old photos were still worth something and needed to be preserve from the garbage dump.
The flat top trunks usually belonged to third class travelers and went into stearage because they could be stacked.Camel back, or rounded top trunks were generally owned by first class passengers who stayed in state rooms.
Hi everyone 😊❤that was a lovely video ladies, ❤
Hello 👋
@@NorthernMudlarks Gail and Alex, I loved hearing your observations of the table and seeing you touch it conveyed the feel of it and it’s history! You reminded me of Lee & Leslie Keno from Antiques Roadshow! ❤❤
You guys did great! Who would not want that bread bin?! It’s so pretty to store things in even for decoration. I love everything.
I always love a rummage through a box of beads , you just never know what you will find 😊 x
Gail and Alex, you look wonderful with the afternoon sun creating light and shadows on you and the gorgeous Scottish landscape unfolding behind you! Wow!
Congratulations on your auction purchases ladies. I loved the trunk & those woven baskets are very useful for all sorts of things. Nice jewelry finds. The work table looks like it could have many a story to tell - if only it could talk. Thanks for letting me and the rest of your viewers tag along with you on this auction adventure.
You girls amaze me 👍 Not only are these tremendous finds, in every sense - you are taking it to a whole ‘nether level with “furniture archeology.” I am fascinated by your finds, and your observations about the physical wear on them. These ended up with the right people - it’s obvious you already cherish these items ♥️ I hope you decide to do more of these videos in the future. I just adored this one
Not to worry about how you film you always do a wonderful job. So enjoyed this adventure. So fun when you were talking about jewelry and showing the chickens and the peacock peeping over the table. As always, thank you for a wonderful vlog!
Thank you for taking us to the auction. Love your finds especially the trunk and table❤
We had a bread bin like that, it was dark Green and kept under the kitchen table as our kitchen was small. I can remember everyone used wicker baskets for shopping, no plastic bags back then. So glad you did get that stunning chest, that has some age to it! It’s lovely!! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😊
Lovely baskets, love everything, I always value all in life. Thank you for all you do to show the side of your country to the world. God bless you both.
15 pounds!!!! Dang!!! It would be hundreds here in NZ. Very cool ladies
Alex- "this is a little bit terrifying" yep , a WHOLE doll head as opposed to fractures and scraps!! LOL!!
That table is beautiful. The trunk is so cool because it still has the travel stickers. I love going to flea markets. Your video was great.
That was a super video . Some lovely bits you got . X
The amount of views you ladies have shows how loved you are. Great Job!
Oooo, an auction lark!
This is Annette not Malcolm love the trunk they are hundreds of dollars over here is Australia
.I would love one to display my old dolls in, might find one one day that I can't live without.
Wonderful treasures!
Quite a few of your silver and turquoise rings look Native American. Beautiful craftsmanship!
I absolutely love those kind of “farm” auctions! Jealous. Thanks for taking us along! 😊❤😊
Wonderful video! ❤ 🇨🇦
What a surprise! 2 days in a row. Thank you. ❤
It's my dream to live in England and I'm training myself to be an antique dealer (after selling vintage for 10+ years) so I get very excited at the idea of all the auctions I'm going to be able to get to! Far and few between in Australia and not very interesting stuff.
My thoughts on the table - late 1700s, modified in the early-mid 19th to be a workbench in a small cottage; cutting the edges to narrow it. Perhaps 3 children sat there, working a cottage industry like pins or buttons. It's a gorgeous piece with secret history of ordinary folk, my favourite kind of history! The silver jewelry looks mostly 80s/90s India but I agree the gold looks a bit older. Also love that Alex was grossed out by the jewelry gack, the same Alex who loves to find a denture in the mud! 😂❤
I love all your auction finds and the trunk I love the stickers of the different places ♥️🗝️❤️👍
We kept our bread in an enamel bin just like the one you bought. It made me smile.
That beautiful table was my favorite. Congrats on your 95K.
Love your finds. Thanks for sharing❤ my favorite is the table. Love all things turquoise!
I love auctions and estate sales here in the states!
The bread tin is wonderful!
The table is just gorgeous....if it could talk!!
I love buying jewelry grab bags❤
The gold turquoise is victorian and sell upwards of 200$ US its my fav!
Very fun video❤❤❤❤
its sweetheart Sunday, my favorite day of the week
The trunk is beautiful, a very successful visit to the auction and I would love to see more ❤️
I hope you do film more of these in the future. I used to love wandering around auctions looking in boxes sometimes bidding for items that interested me, not necessarily to make money but for the history of the items. I did mention on here a few weeks ago about a box I bought which contained personal letters, and ephemera from holidays long past. Most of the letters were from the middle1800s to about 1910 and belonged to a lady from Scotland, It took a while to place them into a timeline and to read the very tidy but small handwriting, it was fascinating to read about someone's hopes and fears not so different from our own.
Loved your "auction lark". Well done with your haul. Ooooh yes! More please!!
I love the table and the trunk! What stories they could tell.
I use a magnet to separate bags of jewelry like that, and then classify between silver and gold
Well that was fun, I've always loved auctions and seeing what antiques and treasures I can find, no room anymore ☹😩so I really enjoyed the wonderful things that you found, especially the table and trunk ! Thank you for a happy morning 🥰🥰 Love and hugs xx
Great fun. Thank you for sharing.😊😊😊🎉
Two of my favorite things, auctions and baskets 😊 you can never have too many baskets ❤❤🤗
What a lovely and different lark! I love all your treasures, but that table!! It’s delightful! You ladies never cease to amaze and thrill!💕TN Nana
I would love to buy any of the rings you guys got at your auction!! Runty looked very interested in what you were doing!🤣😍your table is spectacular, old wood is the best! Great job on the trunk too, the tales it could tell, if it could talk, the labels are beautiful! Excellent video you shared with us Alex and Gail!😃👍
I loved the auction and getting home with you to see all your treasures. Thank you and God bless
I really enjoyed the video. I love auctions but don’t get out much anymore. I’m 57 yrs old but I’ve been a paraplegic for 24 yrs and so my body has broke down to the point that even though my mind is still good my body isn’t. Lol. I really enjoy all of your videos and the only thing I wish was different is that I wish you made more of them. Stay safe and God Bless
Please look after yourself, the best of British luck to you.
I enjoyed the "and now something different" vibe of this video. I'd enjoy seeing more like it.
Oh!! I am so tickled you got that trunk! When I saw it it took my breath away, it is perfect!❤
I love that work table. I can imagine the worn texture of the top under your hands would be amazing. And the bread bin would have been something I'd buy for sure. Very enjoyable video, and looking forward to more like it. Thanks for taking us with you.
You are both such lovely people this is why many stay with you. Added bonus that you do really cool things! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
So fun to watch you at the action today!! Loved this video and your appreciation of all things history
I absolutely love the old vintage trunk and the table they have both seen many years. The worn wood on the table shows how much use it’s had over the decades. If you use your imagination as you both do you could write a story! When I was in my teens I use to write stories and poetry about everything. It was so much fun! Great to see the action and all of your amazing treasures ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💜
The trunk and table OMG!
L❤VE! What a fun haul! 😊
I have the egg necklace with blue egg inside. It is Joan Rivers from QVC. It had more eggs to change the look.
Enjoyed immensely. Thanks for taking me along.
I would so love to live where you two do. What a wonderful place. So old fashioned quiet and serene and beautiful. I just love it. Donna Michigan
What an amazing bargain you got with the trunk! Wonderful!❤
The stories the table could tell! ☺️
I have tiny fingers 😊. Loved the table and truck.
That trunk is utterly gorgeous, what a patina ❤ ... looked like it could say Nice (as in Sth of France) under the ticket type sticker on the end. Lovely finds.. and yes the table too, love it ❤
That trunk is absolutely amazing. If that truck could talk…
I just loved that! Thanks for taking us!
I just love a good rummage it's good therapy. lol :)
That trunk is gorgeous, love the labels. That pretty little ring with the turquoise little daisy shaped beads ❤
So fun buying something from an auction! Love the trunk and table the stories they could tell! I can just imagine all the good bread and baked goods that have been stored in the lovely old Bread Box! Have fun selling your jewelry! Oh the baskets we great too! Y’all did good!
Love the auctioning video. There are some pretty turquoise rings there, I was a big silver jewelry fancier when I was young. I hardly ever wear any of it now and some of the rings no longer fit over my knuckles.
I have a feeling that the surface of that table is a lot older than the legs. Take a look underneath the table, you can tell a lot by seeing how it was put together.
That’s a fabulous trunk, it could certainly tell some interesting stories about where it has been. It would make a great coffee table, just add a glass top.
Our family emigrated to Canada in the 1960s and we still have the packing cases and trunks we came with and I’m pretty sure some of them were old back then.
You two and your videos are like a breath of fresh air on the interweb. Keep on doing what you do.
That was fun!
Look at that beautiful backdrop you have behind you ! ❤
How fun. Thanks for taking us along. I loved the things you bought. Love watching you ladies.
To say you did well would be an under statement as always you brought home unique and historic items if only they could talk!!!! The table gives off hints of maybe being used in a harness shop as the wear is on the whole top due to setting rivets in leather.....just a guess looking forward to your next adventure Karl from eastern Canada
Awww..loved your auction lark..was a lot of fun..so interesting.. love looking at jewellery always.. thankyou for sharing ❤
Wow that was so fun thanks for taking a shopping with you
Ooo love that trunk. Everythings nice. Oh, Im at the end, I see you got it, yay!

Auctions are a fun place to find new, "old" treasures. Thanks for aharing.
That auction brings back memories of myself as a child. My parents dabbled in antiques and i was dragged to them almost weekly. Happy days!
