When he says "see you in heaven", he actually says 'Nangijala' instead of heaven. Nangijala is an Edenic afterlife in Swedish author Astrid Lindgren's book "The brothers lionheart" in which the two titular brothers jump from the second or third-story window of their burning home to escape the flames. The elder dies of the fall and travels to Nangijala, while the other survives but joins him not so long after since he dies of a fever. I just thought it was beautifully put by Linus, and since they understandably did not include this in their translation I thought I'd write it here.
I realise now that other people have written the same thing, but I'll let my comment sit, since I think its important to leave in the part about them jumping from their windows.
For context (for those without a Scandinavian or German/Austrian childhood): The younger brother was very ill and bed-ridden, he was afraid of death so his older brother told him those stories about Nangijala to calm him. This is also why he carried him on his back during the fire and they jumped together.
The best: the woman who started down the stairs and came back. The young girl at the beginning who just went for it. Linus and frida being the best couple ever.

Her pep talk game wasn't exactly great though... "well I might not do it if you get... Well not inured exactly... Just if a limb comes flying off!" :')

Can we acknowledge what a great person Frida is? Linus is way more scared than she is, but instead of showing him up she says the perfect things to encourage him without making him feel like he'd be weak if he backed out. The way she played it, Linus came away thinking like he was the brave one, and Frida just followed him because he showed her it would be OK. But that's not at all what actually happened if you pay close attention. What happened was that Frida basically orchestrated the situation so that Linus would come away with the maximally positive feelings, which included playing up her own fear. Once Linus was off the platform and she made sure she wouldn't land on him she just went, and she even copied Linus's scream. This way he would feel not like the one strange kid who screamed but as the leader who was followed. This is basically pure empathy caught on video, and it's really just charming.
It's very kind of her, but it's also the most tiresomely hetero pattern on the planet: the woman pumping the man's tires, generally at her own expense.
About 5 years Ago i was in a bar with a friend in Stockholm and this was playing on repeat on a small tv in the corner. We watched and discussed this video for about a hour straight. Ever since i have been thinking about this bideo and today it just appeared in my recommend. The wonders of the internet!
Can help you out a bit with pinning down the date, the video was first published around August of 2016, so should have been about four years ago that you first saw it.
First, that little girl is a badass. Second, what's really weird is that, after about four minutes or so, I started feeling just like I was about to jump 10 meters down into the water.
Crossing that "Fear Threshold" for the first time is a life-changing experience, whether it's a 10-meter jump into a pool, the first skydive, holding a spider when you're deathly afraid of spiders, fighting a martial arts tournament the first time when you've always been bone-deep afraid of physical conflict, or confronting WHATEVER makes you curl into a ball. The first is always the hardest. All my life, I was terrified of speaking in public. I would do absolutely anything to get out of it. Now, after crossing - and re-crossing - that significant threshold, I now speak to groups as a normal part of my job. I'm still scared, but no longer debilitatingly terrified. I watch this video and have the utmost respect for everyone who got on the platform, whether they jumped or not. Sometimes, just looking into the abyss serves as a significant step toward eventually crossing that fear threshold.
Not only did Frida have the courage to jump, she put on a one minute straight MVP performance in supporting Linus and giving him the courage to stick to his word of jumping first.
The conversation between Frida and Linus was so entertaining, sounded like a script. Actually watching all these people was so fascinating, i mean like seeing human's reaction in front of situations where your primordial instinct shows up, it's magical and profound, so good! Loved it! And I also loved the fact that for the majority of the time we do not see the height of the jump, because the height itself it's not important, it's even more educative seeing the pure physical reaction. Seeing the height would have make it less captivating, It's the "not knowing" and the obscurity of things that makes things hypnotizing, cause your imagination it's free to contextualize them.
it's not just the tower, but you can see straight down to the bottom of the pool too. So it looks very far down. If you're terrified of heights there's no chance you're jumping off that thing. I've jumped twice and the impact with the water was very painful, idk how high divers manage it lol.
There is something so incredibly poetic about the older woman in the one-piece. Everything inside her was telling her not to jump, so much so that she decided it wasn't worth the risk, yet at the moment when she was about to give up, she realized that regret is so much stronger than fear. It was really breathtaking if I'm honest.
I think the most beautiful moment, is when she comes back, you can see her body is resisting, but she decides to take a deep breath. and walks slowly to the edge, with such a calm face, like: it's ok. I feel like the way she walked and jumped of the edge, was the most surrendering of all. She had almost no tension in her body. GORGEOUS.
It was so sad when she slumped her shoulders and gave up, you could really see her disappointment in herself. I cheered so much for her when she turned back and jumped
Actually that could work for me, because my biggest fear out of jumping from a great height into the water is that I go too deep and i'm not able to come back to the surface
I love when Linus tells Frida he's not being present, but then assures her that her voice is comforting. Their interaction is so beautiful. They are so bravely soft with each other.
what people don't realize is that it's far more dangerous to climb down the ladder than to jump into the water. But respect to the guys who climbed down, knowing your limits and not fearing other people's judgment is manly too and takes guts!
Noo, climbing down isn't courages at all! I did it when I was 10 and now I'm 21 and I still remember that. I allready find a pool where they have the 10m platform and I'm jumping this week
I think they know that its safe its just your body and your fear of heights stopping you from jumping. Like I know I'll be fine on a roller coaster yet im terrified when they drop down really fast. I honestly dont think I could bring myself to jump.
What I like about Linus is though he told her that he can’t focus on her words but encouraged her to keep talking because her voice is soothing. 😌 And she took no offence. Healthy communication.
@@BoboFattt yeah I found the girl kind of manipulative over the guy's ego, Nothing too bad tho since it was to encourage themselves to win those 30 bucks they paid them haha
1:35, this girl is a legend. I feel that not enough people are talking about her, she was bravier than most of the adults that are shown in this video. Go Queen! 👑
Jinx spotted👀 And yeah she just went right for it! It's very interesting how kids are generally more fearless than adults. I know when I was a kid I had way less trouble jumping of the high dives compared to now haha. I think as a kid you think more about everything there is still to experience, while as an adult you think more about what you have to lose.
The couple at 3:10 were a ray of sunshine. Those two showed more maturity, tenderness, and understanding in a minute then my ex-husband and I showed in 8 years of marriage.
I was lucky to go to a high school with an Olympic diving platform. We used to sneak into the pool area at night on the weekends, roll under the laser beam alarm system, scale the exterior of the stairwell up to the 10m platform and jump off into the blackness below. It was absolutely thrilling. Jumping off a 10m platform in daylight is scary enough but the pitch black offered a whole new level of excitement! This is a fantastic video of raw human emotion. Trust me - the first time you look down from the 10m platform is terrifying. Our brains cannot comprehend falling for that distance, so overcoming that is an act of sheer will power.
she was ready to go, great character or jumped before.it get much easier after first jump . he jumped because he knew she will jump with or without him ,without her he would chicken it out
i had to settle for a cliff over a reservoir. the bridge is 18 meters, no thanks. actually, the sketchiest one i ever did was probably 5 or 6 meters off a bridge, but the river was probably only 2 meters deep, and the window of safe spot to enter the water was probably only a 20 or 30 square meter space between the very shallow and a stuck log. looking back, i'm glad i did it but it was pretty stupid.
Wow, that went quick. When it first started I thought eek, this is gonna be slow going at over 16 mins long but it went so quickly. Glad there was no music, added to the tension.
that was a really nice touch for sure. I like how it's just them and their minds and the pool below. shoutout to the lady calling out to the tattooed guy though; was interesting to see him with pressure after all the others were relatively free. I wonder if/how much she contributed to him giving up. would he have jumped if he were alone?🤔
for real. i hate ladders and stuff. you can see in this vid the final section where to their left-hand side, it's potentially a huge drop to pavement... im not saying i'd be stoked to jump into the pool from up there, but ladders are waaay scary for me too lol. i think i'd rather jump into the water than climb backwards down all the ladders.
5:45 They don't actually say "heaven", but Nangijala, which is the name of the after life world in the story of The brothers Lionheart by Astrid Lindgren. Cute and super Swedish
I loved how frank they were with each other. He told he he was zoning her out, as he was focused only on the jump, and he made sure she understood it was not meant to be harsh. She accepted it for what is was and gave hime the space. Very good communication
Some people think they look badass with creative haircuts and tattoos, but when it comes to a simple thing as jumping into the water they bailout. 10 meters are quite high, but start at 5 meters and then 7. Doing that ten times and 10 meters will be fun. The girls did well, though.
I agree. I remember going up on the high dive board when I was about 8 years old. It was only 3 meters, but I was a little kid. I was scared to jump, but I had to because I was more scared to try to go back down the ladder.
@@_Viking what does having certain haircuts and tattoos have to do with jumping from a height that makes someone uncomfortable? People have tattoos for all sorts of reasons
Yeah that's awesome! Maybe not a Pulitzer but that was very nicely put together! Reminds me a lot of "Strip Tease"; it was a famous Belgian/French TV program where journalists were following/documenting the daily routine of unusual people such as car tuning maniacs, friendly hippy drug dealer, far right lost boy and so on. You'd usually rarely hear the journalist voice and the focus was put on the subject, without any commentary, aiming for absolute neutrality. That was amazing!
@@wjrneo2 But that's being stupid. It is a good plan, don't get me wrong, it should get you over the edge, but it is behaving stupid. Up there your whole body is shouting at you to stop, because you will probably hurt yourself. And you know what? The estimation is correct. It's not something that won't go away after a little bit, but it does hurt if you are even a little imprecise. Fear is often a very valid information of your subconscious. Seems to me the proper way is to stop at the edge, wait for the initial panic to go away, rationalize and then go.
@@Washeek Incorrect. Thats for a situation where the end result is unknown. This is a clear situation with a known safe outcome. The easiest way to get through it is to just do it. You don't have to do any fancy crap. Literally just step off the platform, and plunge straight down like a stick. Standing up on the platform will only prolong the panic attack. Your adrenaline is pumping like crazy and will continue to do so until the event has passed. Literally just do it, and it'll be over. Its the case where 'face your fears' applies 100%.

But she uses that trust for sure when she jumps, seeing that all went well.
The woman with the curly hair pausing as she was about to descend the ladder and that moment becoming the moment she found the "guts" she needed to jump is going to stay with me for a long time. I was so happy for her. We all deserve that feeling. ❤
Oh man, I remember this feeling so well. On a post-high school holiday many many years ago my friends and I stood on a cliff of about one and a half times this height. About seven of us were up there, and everyone had said they would jump. But then some got nervous and started climbing back down. Eventually one just took a running leap, and when we all saw him come up to the surface, two more jumped. That left me and one guy up there, and neither of us could jump, but neither wanted to climb back down. Our friends down by the lagoon edge were getting impatient and told us they wouldn't wait forever, but we were stuck in a stalemate and so they left us. We stood there forever, with the sun starting to go down. Eventually he looked at me and said "sorry, can't do it", climbed back down and left the lagoon. I must have stood there for another 10 or 15 minutes, changing my mind about a dozen times. Finally I jumped, with no one there to see it. It was a proper rush, but completely terrifying.
That's some dedication, bro, Im glad you conquered it :). I also had nerve-racking experiences with high places, but deep down if I didn't do it, I'll leave disappointed, so I just push aside anxiety, and YOLO it - Such a satisfying rush of self-achievement.
the_katman cliffs into reservoirs or man made lakes, even natural lakes what’s just under the water you don’t know. A big dead tree? Waiting for you to become impaled on? Someone should check underwater. Snorkel or scuba, it’s fun when everyone has a great time and everyone comes home safe. Too many hidden dangers are out there ready to ruin your life.
i watched this with the biggest smile on my face like it was the most riveting, well written thriller/drama i have ever seen. what a fascinating window into the human soul, i cheered for the older lady who made up her mind and jumped anyway and i felt bad for the guys who just couldn't bring themselves to do it. this is so simple yet so touching and so human, i loved every second!
2:52 is the best example of fear that I have ever seen. It was a true battle between ones determination to jump and determination to save oneself. It was an epic fight or flight battle, complete with flailing arms and everything!
I used to be a street gymnast and we came up with a saying "Study long study wrong". In short the longer you spent thinking about a flip combination the more likely you were to fudge it up. So just do it.
What I love about this is it reads so much like a play. Like a small stage just packed with drama. We can't see anything around it. We just see them. And everyone is going through this experience like they're facing death itself. So fascinating.
It's having the opportunity to think about it that gets you. The times I've been skydiving, you're only given a few seconds to make the jump before the next person has to get in the door - and you're very focused on the steps you need to take to get into the door, get out of the plane, and get into a flying position. It's only that complete focus on the next step, and not being able to pause to think about what you're about to do, that allows you to go through with it.
Yes, if you want to jump, you should to do it before your brain can say "no". I have great respect for the people, who stared down, and still jumped, though.
I agree. I had a similar situation. I was last to load the plane which meant I was first to jump. Had I known that I was first... I would have spent the whole flight over thinking the jump, but spur of the moment it was so easy to just get up and jump. 😎 our minds are crazy how they operate lol
When you're up there, it almost feels like there is a wall of glass at the edge, and in order to jump, you'd have to gather enough force to smash through it.
I haven't jumped 10 metre boards in ages but strangely enough I can remember that exact sensation, it's not a thought you have but almost like a barrier your own body creates. Didn't scare me much at the time but I can still remember the feel of the concrete on my feet as I stepped off for the first time.
Can't relate, I jumped when I was 13 and I think the best way to do it is lottery just do it. I didn't look down or shut just went and jumped, like the alrighty girl.
This is such a beautiful video about human mind and the guts to either do it or the guts to climb down. It's also inspiring how this doesn't have anything to do with your age, gender etc. A little girl and an older woman jumped but a fit tattooed guy probably in his twenties didn't.
@@icekoldcilla8470 I included gender in the comment, because there are still a lot of stereotypes in this world (what should little girls be like, what should grown men be like). I was glad that this video didn't confirm those stereotypes. I was glad that in this very biased world, this video didn't make it more biased. I probably could have explained my point better in the first place.
@@pahvi3 It really is. We grew up around cliffs surrounding a lake where these kinds of stunts were normal. It's a lot easier to do after you see someone else do it. That was my experience, but one of our friends wouldn't take a 20 foot jump. We didn't know he had a fear of heights until that moment.
OOOOhhhhhh... like to answer the phone, ever. I may need to admit some things to myself. This video is seriously my worst nightmare but I feel oddly accomplished in rooting for every person and not mad at anyone's decision, I honestly don't know what I'd do until I was there, before and after I'm fine, it's just that facing it part that is so agonizing, worst place to get stuck.
Fun story, for those who care: Over 10 years ago, I jumped the 10 meters for the first time when I was 14 years old, to impress a girl. Seeing those people working up their courage to jump reminded me of how scared out of my mind I was and the relief I felt once I took the dive. About a week later, I went to the park with her and I was sitting on a bench in front of a pond next to a weeping willow tree, she was lying down with her head in my lap and I decided that I wanted her to be my first kiss. Working up the courage to do that was a million times harder than the 10 meter jump. I realized as I was kissing her that my legs were shaking like crazy under her head. We both laughed it off and she became my girlfriend for a time, a few minutes later. Life is full of decisions to which the answer is obvious, but the hard part is getting over your fear of making that decision, once you rid yourself of that, you are truly free, for the time that you fall.
So to clarify for anyone whos interested in the numbers: Short version: The average time to fall from this height is 1.5 Seconds. The speed when touching the water is 31 mph(50 km/h) Long version: Time to Fall: Using basic kinematics from physics we know that the equation of freefall is x=V0*t+(1/2)at^2 where a is acceleration, V0 is initial velocity, x is height and t is time. Since out initial velocity is zero because we are starting from rest (not moving), the equation becomes x=(1/2)at^2. We know that acceleration due to gravity is 9.81m/s^2 (32.2ft/s^2) and we also know that the initial height x is 10 m (32.8ft). {I will be doing these calculation using the metric system since its easier calculation wise} Plugging this in we get 10m=(1/2)(9.81m/s^2)t^2 We can then have 20m=(9.81m/s^2)(t^2) By then dividing 9.81 from both sides we get t^2=2.03873598s^2 Our final step is to square root both sides to get t=1.4278s So, the time for an object in free fall starting from rest at a height of 10 meters to reach the ground (neglecting drag and air resistance) is 1.4278 seconds. Speed (Velocity): {In a vacuum neglecting air resistance and drag} Using the basic kinematics from physics, we know that v=V0+at. V0 is zero, a is acceleration which in our case is gravity (9.81m/s^2) or (32.2ft/s^2) and now we know time is 1.4278 seconds. Plugging these values in we get V=(9.81m/s^2)(1.4278s) We get the velocity v=14.007m/s Converting this we get 31.333 mph(50.4257 km/h). Thank you very much for reading this, feel free to ask question if you'd like, have a great day! :-)
Human behavior is ALWAYS interesting.. I love the fact that this little things confirm we all are more similar than different, our differences are superficial, the important aspects of human behavior make us all the same!
I remember doing something similar to this when I was in the Army. Jumping into the water while suspended 35 FT in the air is pretty intimidating. However, once you leap or in my case, “let go” of the rope, it’s over in a matter of seconds and not too bad!
I remember jumping out of a plane for the first time. i was fine till the door opened and i looked down. it's in our brains to fear heights. they legit forced us out of the hatch if we didn't. it was tandem
You can't convey the sense of height they're feeling from a camera, it will always look smaller and tamer than it does in real life. It would detract from the film rather than add to it, because all of us here comfy at home would look at it and think "Oh that's not so bad, I could do that". By focusing on the raw human emotion at the top, you're actually getting a much clearer picture of what a jump like that is actually like than if they were to try to show it.
They All Just did the exact Same mistake. Looking Down for a Long Time, if you Just Look a Second if Its clear then you are ok but not if you wait like them 😂
I did this but onto and airbag and the workers had to open the gate and let u go and I literally had to get him to open the gate and just run and leap for it 😂
Meanwhile idiots climb on a 20 meter cliff like pinguins packed together and push each other or slip by accident while making a selfie and get hospitalized after
I flip from 10-meter, you get used to it after a while and the hang time is soooo refreshing Edit: It also makes it worse and worse if you wait it out, I recommend just jumping because if you keep standing and staring you will chicken out.
I once did it when i was a boy. The pool looks like a pack of cigarettes from up there. As my father was watching i did not hesitate to step over the edge.

You don't think so much about the consequences when you're a kid. There was a cliff spot I used to go to every summer when I was teenager. The drop was about 8 meters into a river and I'd jump it all day no problem. I went back in my late 20's and didn't have the balls to do it. To be fair, it wasn't the drop I was scared of, it was the shock to the system you get hitting the cold water that put me off.

younglings have a lesser mass to surface ratio. The force of the water on the body is less.

Yes, that boy is incredibly kind and gentle! Frida is lovely too. What a beautiful couple...
That little girl at the start is a champ
Not only did Frida have the courage to jump, she put on a one minute straight MVP performance in supporting Linus and giving him the courage to stick to his word of jumping first.
Coupling. It´s a team sport.
That's my relationship goal. I want to be deserving this much respect, love and support.
she wouldn't have jumped on her own. or first. she was supporting him because she was afraid and it was of course easier to do it after her boyfriend.
Notice the empathy between them, he put his hands on his knees and she immediately did the same thing.
@@bektasuteubekov5788 you deserve it already
Wow, you express yourself excellently. You should become a writer
it's like waiting for godot except at a pool
it's not just the tower, but you can see straight down to the bottom of the pool too.

Vince So well said , I was astounded at her resolve .

Some people think they look badass with creative haircuts and tattoos, but when it comes to a simple thing as jumping into the water they bailout. 10 meters are quite high, but start at 5 meters and then 7. Doing that ten times and 10 meters will be fun. The girls did well, though.

Everyone has a plan until they climb up the ten meter tower.
If you are apprehensive, the best plan is to not stop. Climb the last step, take a brisk walk right off the edge without a moment to think about it.
@@wjrneo2 There is not a known safe outcome. There are plenty of ways to hurt yourself jumping from the 10m tower. I grew up right next to one and I've seen people breaking ribs, dislocate a shoulder or just generally hurting themselves.

Swedish filmmakers have a tendency of making simple but thought provoking stuff.
The making of this video kinda reminds of French Nouvelle Vague style in the 60s. The lightings. The montage. The slow motion.
The woman with the curly hair pausing as she was about to descend the ladder and that moment becoming the moment she found the "guts" she needed to jump is going to stay with me for a long time. I was so happy for her. We all deserve that feeling. ❤
Linus and Frida are relationships goals.

Same with my first and only solo hangglide.

I probably could have explained my point better in the first place.
"the guts to go climb down". I loved that
@@pahvi3 It really is. We grew up around cliffs surrounding a lake where these kinds of stunts were normal. It's a lot easier to do after you see someone else do it. That was my experience, but one of our friends wouldn't take a 20 foot jump. We didn't know he had a fear of heights until that moment.
Frida saying “don’t say anything!” And then jumping right in oh my god she’s precious
Imagine this but for mundane activities and that's an anxiety disorder
OOOOhhhhhh... like to answer the phone, ever. I may need to admit some things to myself. This video is seriously my worst nightmare but I feel oddly accomplished in rooting for every person and not mad at anyone's decision, I honestly don't know what I'd do until I was there, before and after I'm fine, it's just that facing it part that is so agonizing, worst place to get stuck.
I genuinely used to have this for opening my email when applying for jobs, worried I had gotten a reply... I feel you man
me trying to put out resumes
I agree with all of you
I had never thought about it that way. Thank you for explaining it.
They don’t show they ones who die
great comment))
That is how they fool us.
Hahahaha
😂😂😂
The FBI wants to know your location...
"I just decided to go for it and my knees sensed that." lmfaooooooooooooo
As someone who cliff jumps a lot...look ONCE then back up, don’t think about it and run full speed
No you dont.
Yes, look once to check for sharks
I agree. I do the same thing. Ask someone where the deep spot is. Run, Jump, Swim out and repeat.
I went once do to parachute, the teacher pushed me from the airplane on 2 (the jump was suppose to be on 3) :)
J Waldron wtf are you on about😂😂
Man, I come back and watch every once in a while because I just don't get tired of seeing the simple humanity on display.
This video is a wonderful illustration of the human thought process and how diverse it can be.
And also about our shared biochemistries that makes us experience fear.
Fun story, for those who care:
Over 10 years ago, I jumped the 10 meters for the first time when I was 14 years old, to impress a girl.
Really liked your story. Good for you.
Great story
This is beautiful bro. Thanks
Alex One-shot same, ur mom kisses better tbh
“Once you rid yourself of that, you are truly free for the time that you fall” love that 😊
So to clarify for anyone whos interested in the numbers:
Short version: The average time to fall from this height is 1.5 Seconds. The speed when touching the water is 31 mph(50 km/h)
Long version:
Time to Fall:
Using basic kinematics from physics we know that the equation of freefall is x=V0*t+(1/2)at^2 where a is acceleration, V0 is initial velocity, x is height and t is time. Since out initial velocity is zero because we are starting from rest (not moving), the equation becomes x=(1/2)at^2. We know that acceleration due to gravity is 9.81m/s^2 (32.2ft/s^2) and we also know that the initial height x is 10 m (32.8ft).
{I will be doing these calculation using the metric system since its easier calculation wise}
Plugging this in we get 10m=(1/2)(9.81m/s^2)t^2
We can then have 20m=(9.81m/s^2)(t^2)
By then dividing 9.81 from both sides we get t^2=2.03873598s^2
Our final step is to square root both sides to get
t=1.4278s
So, the time for an object in free fall starting from rest at a height of 10 meters to reach the ground (neglecting drag and air resistance) is 1.4278 seconds.
Speed (Velocity):
{In a vacuum neglecting air resistance and drag}
Using the basic kinematics from physics, we know that v=V0+at. V0 is zero, a is acceleration which in our case is gravity (9.81m/s^2) or (32.2ft/s^2) and now we know time is 1.4278 seconds.
Plugging these values in we get V=(9.81m/s^2)(1.4278s)
We get the velocity v=14.007m/s
Converting this we get 31.333 mph(50.4257 km/h).
Thank you very much for reading this, feel free to ask question if you'd like, have a great day! :-)
I haven't even finished reading it yet but thanks so much...
You're smart. Nice job 😊
Nerd alert!
I’m not reading all that
Why tho
Did I actually just spend 16 minutes watching that?
There's a modern media technique called "skipping". ^^
Yes, so did I. But I once stood on the 10 m platform for 30 Minutes, before ...
I know right? They were hard minutes too!
Was good, wasn't it?
Frida: what if I jump first.
Linus: oh look, there's a hair tie down there.
Seeing human behavior like this it’s quite interesting
Human behavior is ALWAYS interesting.. I love the fact that this little things confirm we all are more similar than different, our differences are superficial, the important aspects of human behavior make us all the same!
@@darksid3_ No you are wrong, they are Swedish and they are not like everybody else... Trust me I know.
@Vanargand I'm sure you're very different and unique, 11th person with a wolf profile picture I've seen today.
@Vanargand So what are you?
It's called instincts, it's pretty interesting that our intelligence allows us to overcome it
I remember doing something similar to this when I was in the Army. Jumping into the water while suspended 35 FT in the air is pretty intimidating. However, once you leap or in my case, “let go” of the rope, it’s over in a matter of seconds and not too bad!
We had to do it in the navy.
The anticipation is the worst part.
I can imagine how intimidating that would be! Thank you for your service!
RLTW!
I remember jumping out of a plane for the first time. i was fine till the door opened and i looked down. it's in our brains to fear heights. they legit forced us out of the hatch if we didn't. it was tandem
This is basically me trying to psych myself into doing assignments
Wish they had a top down shot so be bit of POV what they are actually seeing from above how high it looks from their perspective.
its cos you cant see what they do that makes it more scary I think
You are so right, this would have been a much better doc with a POV shot!
The focus is on them not the height which an interesting choice and makes for an amusing video
@@almostroger agreed, a POV shot would defeat the purpose of the video
You can't convey the sense of height they're feeling from a camera, it will always look smaller and tamer than it does in real life. It would detract from the film rather than add to it, because all of us here comfy at home would look at it and think "Oh that's not so bad, I could do that". By focusing on the raw human emotion at the top, you're actually getting a much clearer picture of what a jump like that is actually like than if they were to try to show it.
They are fighting every natural and evolutionary instinct. Must be hard!
Ambitious Collective actually it's not that hard. At least for me it was not.
They All Just did the exact Same mistake.
Looking Down for a Long Time, if you Just Look a Second if Its clear then you are ok but not if you wait like them 😂
I did this but onto and airbag and the workers had to open the gate and let u go and I literally had to get him to open the gate and just run and leap for it 😂
Meanwhile idiots climb on a 20 meter cliff like pinguins packed together and push each other or slip by accident while making a selfie and get hospitalized after
It was interesting seeing that conflict in their brains but I jumped off 15m cliffs dozens of times when I was young and it wasn't hard for me.
I flip from 10-meter, you get used to it after a while and the hang time is soooo refreshing
Edit: It also makes it worse and worse if you wait it out, I recommend just jumping because if you keep standing and staring you will chicken out.
That is a lie, i can tell by the way you said it. You jump but you don't do just one flip, that is bull.
Roadkill Gravy it’s fully plausible. Did you not see the girl do a backflip at the end?? Why couldn’t the person do a flip?
I tried a double flip once off it, and landed on my side. Was v painful
I once did it when i was a boy. The pool looks like a pack of cigarettes from up there. As my father was watching i did not hesitate to step over the edge.
good job
Actually it's one of the easiest courage challenges, cause there is (almost) no risk.
@@sowasvonlustig2977 this is not true. You can hurt yourself very badly. Really strong pain and injuries may occur. This happens even from 3 meter or 1.
linus and frida are such well matched folk - but made for each other , and they jumped , wow ! LOVING !
great video !
Who else imagined what it would be like to just fall backwards off the edge.... JUST before they show the BADASS at the end?
I've done that off of high dives, but never off a 10m. On high dives, I land on my head, hands by my side.
That's what came to mind for me, but I have done Coasteering, a bungee jump and a 15k tandem skydive.
Well... she kind of knows how to control her rotation -- speed up by pulling in knees/arms, stop by extending. It would be easy to over- or under-rotate and belly/back-flop!
I was just thinking if I tried what the last diver did, I would over rotate and end up doing a belly flop instead.
Please never try it, esp on high jump if you don't know exactly what you're doing
She 100%knows how
The lady around 8 min mark made me cry. She totally conquered and nailed it.
I have deep admiration for each one of them, including those who decided not to do it. I know that I would not have done any better myself
I remember jumping off of an 11 meter cliff when I was 13-14 and it was more exciting than scary. Recently (10 years later) I tried jumping off of a 7 meter cliff and I had to build up the courage for like an hour to finally do it lol, it was scary af, I almost cried at times. Children are so ruthless
I always dove.
They haven’t lived long enough to see what happens to others who don’t succeed!
Like the young girl at the start of the video?
You don't think so much about the consequences when you're a kid. There was a cliff spot I used to go to every summer when I was teenager. The drop was about 8 meters into a river and I'd jump it all day no problem. I went back in my late 20's and didn't have the balls to do it. To be fair, it wasn't the drop I was scared of, it was the shock to the system you get hitting the cold water that put me off.
