My father had a Merkel that was made in the late 1930’s. Came with a file of onion skin paperwork about 2 inches thick of correspondence. Most of which was how to get it in to the US and why someone was communicating with Germany at the time. The gun came with 6 sets of barrels, 2 shotgun and 4 rifle. As well as 4 Zeiss scopes. Also came with 2 sets of engraving side plates. Both “ZZ” grade. One big game and one small game. All came in a leather covered box, inside was felt lined. And the tip box slid so tight into the bottom box you could hear the air hiss out between the two. Went from 12ga-.375 H&H. Fantastic craftsmanship
I own Merkel and Suhl 200E model made in 1951. And my grandfather bought it in 1965 from colonel in Yugoslavian army at that time. He was military attache in London in late 50s and early 60s and as i was told spme kind of nobleman ( i never knew title of this man) sell this gun to him and 2-3 years later he resell it again to my grandpa. it has British crown stamped in head of the gun in two places. It has English stock and also have lot of engravings nice one on it...
Hi, lovely gun, Merkel's guns are mostly handmade to order so it can be difficult to give a precise description of a model as there is so much variation in the range. Your best bet would be to write (email) to Merkel with the serial number of your gun as it will be in a different series than this one. Thanks for your interest.

I believe it’s called a kersten greener cross bolt locking system.
Its called a "doublegreener" or "Kersten" locking system
The chokes run the whole length of the barrel.You can hit a pheasant at 70 yards with one.I have seen it in person.

Just bought a 1950 201E. What a wonderful shotgun.
Know of a Model 200 12 GA by 2 3/4", but it only has single mechanical trigger...is that Right?!? SERIAL: 54625
