Sir you are my Dom Deluise! I love your videos! What makes them great is your sense of humor! May I suggest you do a video as Captain Chaos and go through some of the chaotic things about camping in a Runaway or owning a Runaway? I would think that would be both informative and hilarious!

Love it! You’re a trip.😂 I love your height solution! I bet the cleat is to use if you have nowhere to attach the strap…

@@54bonkers thanks. I was thinking that too, like you didn’t have a roof rack then attach the cleat to the runaway??

Love the video, wish I'd had it before I started using the awning a month ago! Anyway, page 6 of the instructions says to use the cleat to secure the tension strap but I did it the way you did & used the bar already there to secure it instead of putting more holes in the Venturist. You were right about the poles snapping easily so I was in South Dakota and snapped my two middle poles so onto the next video to fix them, ugh.

It was an easy 15 minute fix until I lost a screw in the grass. The extra parts worked perfectly. I saw a trailer dolly in your video, which one is it & do you like?

I used to have an awning on my first big rig trailer and they just don't survive! I staked it down as deep as possible with a cork screw RV anchor and a violent wind STILL pulled it out bending the metal awning itself... Almost killed me to when I went out to catch it flopping up and down in the wind on my trailer.
They also don't block off the sun if the sun isn't directly above the awning. I frequently found myself chasing the shaded area a lot further away from my trailer in scorching summer heat. The fabrics are also known not to last very long. They do develop rips from weather wear and tare (especially with stray cats practicing their acrobatics...)
Personally i wouldn't recommend it. Invest in an oversized Mexican party sombrero hat instead!!!
