- Cruise news today.
Two people and their dog were rescued in Tampa Bay after a cruise ship wake sank their small boat over the weekend.
Carnival Conquest's return to South Florida was delayed on Monday due to speed issues, keeping the ship in Port Miami until just after 8 last night.
According to the CDC, two cruise ships, Holland America's Eurodam and Oceania Cruises' Nautica, have reported gastrointestinal illness outbreaks early in the new year.
Cruise line stocks for CCL, RCL, NCLH, and VIK.

Happy New Year Doug🎉 what a scary moment for those people on the small boat. Glad they were rescued.
Yay! Great job coast guard and crew for saving those two people and their dog! 🎇🎉🎊🎊🎉🎇🎆🎆🎇🎉🎇🎆🎇🎉🎊🎊🎉🎆🎆🎇🎉🎉🎇🎇
Thank you for keeping me updated with Cruise News. I Love it.
Thank you for watching !
It's not just cruise ships that make big wakes, it's big ships in general. That's bad seamanship on the part of the boat owners.
Good job as always, Doug.
I appreciate that
We were on the Oasis in Jan of 2019 when 590 people were diagnosed with Noro! Jamaica wouldn’t let anyone off the ship and we skipped Cozumel and headed back to port a day early! Some of the porters had to drive up To Canaveral from Ft Lauderdale. Thankfully we never caught it!!!
Afternoon Doug
Wow great rescue glad everyone was ok.Ty for your updates.Have a wonderful Tuesday 😊
Especially the dog at the mercy of human decisions.
My pleasure.
Hold my beer…., let’s see how close I can get to those 2 big things coming that have a pool onboard….
Plenty of news today, thanks for keeping us up to date Doug. Happy Tuesday!
Thanks so much!
Was the cruise ship too close to the boat, or was the boat too close to the cruise ship?
What is your expert's opinion about it?
By international law, small boats must give way to larger boats. More agile boats must give way to boats with less agility.
Hi Doug. Please advise whether the Dog on the capsized boat was also rescued 🙏🏻 I hate when Animals are compromised.
Doug said at the beginning that the dog was also rescued. ❤
@themonkeypuzzle thank you for responding, I appreciate that 🙏🏻
Happy Tuesday Doug Parker! I see that you’re suffering with chilly temps in Florida too. Nice hoodie but I tend to get fixated on things, so, glad to see the black tee peeking out the collar, lol. Those people and their dog being rescued in Tampa Bay is great news but still rather disturbing that they were taking such a risk sailing in such close proximity to ships wake.
You’d think that with the billions of money earned that Carnival would do better with the older ships and try to prevent recurring propulsion problems. But, my kids probably feel the same way about my Toyota minivan - we will keep rolling until she won’t roll any more. 🚐🤷🏾♀️⛴️
All I can say is that I don’t want a gastrointestinal illness on ANY vacation. Wash your hands with soap and water, try to avoid touching everything and even further don’t touch your eyes, nose or mouth with bare hands. Ok, my mouthful for the week. Happy Tuesday. 😊🛳️✌🏾
❤️
"so enjoy that!" Funny Doug. 😆
Haha
You also have good Tuesday.
Thanks!
Maybe they didn’t notice the SHIP in the water
How big/long was the capsized boat?
Thanks Doug...now I want chili for dinner😂😂😂
Yes. Had it for lunch, randomly.
Good morning Doug! What were these people thinking? Very large ship, little boat! Thanks for the news and enjoy your chilly day from chilly Louisiana!
Do you know what was the distance between them?
No?
So be quiet!!
By law, boat is responsible for the damage their wake makes!!
@@ogalili1 Does it matter? You take your teeeny tiny boat out where it's not safe and are surprised when normal traffic traveling at normal speeds throws up a normal wake that you and your boat are not equipped to handle. Seems like expected results to most people.
@ it does..
Maybe the cruise ship what’s going to fast?
No?
Again, there is no information how far was the “small” boat from the ship.
And , by law, it is still the cruise ship captain that is responsible for the damage his ship created.
My pleasure. Stay warm.
@@ogalili1 Really! So, do YOU know the distance and common sense should have prevailed to stay away.
Your news is always interesting and to the point. We'll done. ❤
Glad you think so. Appreciate your support.
Good morning everyone, happy Tuesday!
Good morning!
Apply soap and water to hands!
Great tip! Always.
Did the victims not cross the wake properly? Heck, i have take a 10 ft boat over some huge wakes.
I wasn’t there but it’s safe to say it was the boaters fault.
But did the dog make it
Ship (or boat) wakes are very dangerous, I have worked a number of fatalities from boats being swamped/flipped from wakes thrown by careless yachts on the ICW
I'm always surprised how close some pleasure boaters get to the ships as we depart ports... you'd think an experienced boater would know the dangers of getting too close to such a large vessel.
Good morning… Thank you for reporting… Looking forward to this cold front disappearing… Lol… My sister is on the Carnival pride from Baltimore and I see on the Facebook group that the ship is rocking and rolling 🥴🥴 I hope it gets better for them as they get closer to Nassau!!
Oh yeah! It’s rough all over. MSC ship stuck in Florida because of waves.
@ oh no… I had no idea MSC was stuck in Florida due to weather… Which ship? We will be boarding the seashore on the 19th out of Port Canaveral
❤❤❤
Happy Tuesday Doug!!! Hope you are staying warm ... brrr
More GI outbreaks?
Washy washy, folks.
Washy WASHY!!!
😁
We will be Cruising in a few Days ,How about You..
Good am Doug.
Nice! What ship? Morning.
Thanks Doug Happy Tuesday!! BURRRR! 🥶
Cold everywhere!
Stay warm. Good looking hoodie.
Thanks! Picked it up at Charleston aquarium over the weekend.
Hello
Good morning thank you
Pleasure
It is 18 degrees real feel is 6 and snowing stay warm and have a great day. Thank you for all you do
Oh wow! What state?! Thank you.
@ Pennsylvania
Good morning! So much cruise news!
Good day!
Some boaters are pretty dumb. Maybe this was the case in this capsize. I’ve seen them get too close to ships under way and it’s just dumb, just plain dumb. Good thing for them they were rescued.
Hope ya'll have a great day!
You too!
Great Lesson should have been learnt. Don’t sail-anywhere near a Ship. Thank GOD they and Dog Survived. I would probably have freaked out scared.
Stay away from large vessels, they swamp small boats for sport
With all this bad news, why cruise?
What is your preferred vacation these days?
It's like when there's a airline crash... you DON'T hear about the thousands of flights that land just fine every single without anything going wrong. Likewise, you don't hear about all of the cruises that go completely normally. No one would watch the news if they reported that everything was just normal today. Sad, but true.
🛳🛳🛳
What about the dog?
Brr
Thanks Doug! Glad the people capsized ok gonna be ok. We will be sailing out of Tampa soon for the first time. 🛳️
Sounds great! Thanks bud. Happy New Year.
Vessel operators ARE responsible for any damage caused by their wake!'
I hope the cruise ship is held responsible!
That's true, but "The other party must prove that they were powerless to prevent the injury and damage by any practical precautions." (Sayer Regan & Thayer LLP). Cruise ships out of Tampa are guided out of Port through the channel by pilot. I just got off a Tampa Bay Cruise returning from Cozumel yesterday morning. They leave and return through the channel slowly. Any legal proceedings may fall apart if the injured party knew or should have known that operating their vessel through the wake of a Cruise Ship that just passed within eyesight would likely be hazardous.
Not if the other party is neglect. Oh BTW 30 years at sea.
bro this was hidden from me for two minutes
also im first
Boat is responsible for the damage their wake creates!!
