    Wow! This video was super helpful! Thank you! I'm a portrait photographer. I've been photog'ing forever, but professionally, only for a short time. I would love to work something like this into my repertoire, but my budget is next to nil. So, I'm a little wary of investing in an expensive backdrop. Baby Dream has 4 types of fabrics: fleece, matte fleece, premium, and dream fabric. They get really expensive. Do you have a fabric preference? And are they creased when you get them? (Do they need to be ironed every time you use them or are they low maintenance?)

    I have Christmas minis with Christmas backdrops coming up and would like to get some tips on lighting. I have umbrella lights and a flash that I use on camera and off camera. I usually do outdoor using natural light and this will be my first time doing these indoor. Any help is appreciated. I love you backdrop in this video and your tips for this is great. Also I'm using a rebel T6 with a 50mm lens

    • @aprilmassad
      @aprilmassad  2 года назад

      I think in part one of this I show how I shoot with strobe! Your umbrella would go where my PLM is if you are shooting a darker low key drop. If shooting a lighter high key drop I would bump down the power and light the drop with the second umbrella from the same side! Always think about you want some shadows on one side the the nose!

    Your photos are absolutely beautiful! Do you have any tips for someone, like me, just starting out? I have a Canon rebel t7 and want to do some Christmas photos using backdrops of my 15 month old...I have the basic camera set up so not even sure if I have the correct lens 😬

    • @aprilmassad
      @aprilmassad  2 года назад +1

      Hi!!! Thank you so much!! There is really no correct lens! It’s more what lens for your current lighting condition and what look you are trying to achieve!! But this does give me an idea for another video! If you scroll down I have a what’s in my camera bag video! With the rebel series cameras, if you are shooting natural light i will say make sure you have ENOUGH light! The rebel series are awesome cameras, but ISO and sensor size is limited!
      You can also always rent gear from a site like Borrow Lenses!!

    I love this! how do you get multiple kids in focus with a low aperture?

    • @aprilmassad
      @aprilmassad  2 года назад +2

      Great question! With an aperture lower than the number of kids in the photo they need to be on the same focal plane! Simplified that means their noses need to be equal to the camera! I need to do a video on this…

    • @aprilmassad
      @aprilmassad  2 года назад

      ALWAYS start at a very low power and then work your way up! If you are not happy with the harsh shadows, simple raise your ISO OR add another strobe set on a low power and bounce it behind you to fill in your shadows!
