I know it's Tuesday not Wednesday, someone (Pete) convinced me the sooner I published it the sooner people would stop having a hard time with their cars :)
Brilliant video, Dave. It's nice to hear someone speak up and [gently] explain that the "common wisdom" doesn't necessarily apply in all cases. A lot of folks base their tuning on what someone else does, even though their track may be totally different - or buy replacement parts before they even try a new car out to see what it needs. Excellent job here!
Wow, just wow. Were you inhabiting my basement this past weekend? I spent a good deal of time tuning my Datsun 510 (motor break in, gear mesh, body float) and couldn't crack the code on tire rub. This is excellent. Great video on how we have to unlearn some things and think differently. I also ordered some Paul Gage urethanes for all my Grp 2s. Wanna give them a go.
Outstanding Dave - the best thing on the internet today 👍🏻 Although there is another pressing controversy brewing. Unplugged power sockets left turned on?! I think my old dad would lose his mind 😅
Great explanation. Thanks for doing this. I still wish there was a third party company that was replicating Carrera cars and using their design structure. A true plug and play experience out of the box just like official Carrera cars.
Hi Dave ....i have my Escort running great since i set it up last week ..the motor needed a little adjusting but now she runs sweet ....same as my BRMs need a little fettling but i have them all running sweet , my TTS fiat is a different story so I haven't did much to it yet but its a weird car and wouldn't be my favorite. The only problem i have with my Revoslots and BRMs is the soft heads on the motor mount screws ( even with gentle hand torque)and i also think this is a problem with folk not knowing exactly what size to use wither it's torx or allen head ...another thing lacking in communication from Revoslot/BRMs...great post and im sure it helped many frustrated folk 👍
Great explanation Dave. I totally agree to that what you`ve said. But, moreover there is one point i do not understand with that Revoslot system. The chassis hight set up is quite high. Why do they do that? The center of gravity of the car could be much better with less ground clearance and thus the tipping point. There is no way to set this, or am i wrong? Different axle holders in combination with other body holders would be the solution. People often adjust that with self made shims under the axle holders and body holders. All the best, Carsten
3 loose screws two of which you should adjust as routine maintenance anyway,, or buy a slot it or NSR and have to totally rebuild it... I know what I prefer
Very good video. To me if a person is having "problems" with a new slot car,and moan about the car or the manufacturer to the wider community, then they are missing the ethos of our hobby.Ootb,check,test,tune,repeat.I disagree that its the manufacturers fault, unfortunately in this modern world the"someone else is to blame for my problems"syndrome is all too prevalent.
The trouble here is, people who only usually buy toy cars with magnets and plastic wheels that you can't adjust have seen this car and wanted it without anyone at all telling them that not all slot cars are the same as the one brand they've previously stuck to. It is not unreasonable to expect there to be some published literature from the manufacturer at least somewhere that could be referred to. Slot car companies on the whole are terrible at communication, revoslot especially so, they don't even update their own website all that often .. the lime green Kadett, the Quadri 911, pretty much none of the cars they've released in the last 6 months have even been added to their website, they only post on their Facebook page about once every three months... not really a brand in touch with it's customers is it?
@@lotus2430 thing is the likes of you and I tinker with stuff probably almost habitually, but we are very much in the minority, and if you want the hobby to grow then some people need almost cookbook instructions to be able to progress in the hobby.
Great info but honestly I think they should be able to be put on the track out of the box, tuning is great but the car should at least run. My tyres rubbed out of the box, I shouldn’t have to buy tuner parts to get it to run. My 2c
Totally agree with you. I think some people need to stick to scalextric and carrera. And leave the hobbyist cars be. I enjoy working on cars. Real or slot.
Yeah I have a few full sized money pits too! I don't think people should stick to the home set brands but they should certainly be more aware of the leap they're making from "set up for you" to "set up mostly but tweak it" with Revoslot and "here's the bits assembled, you set it up how you like" for brands like Policar and NSR, then things are a lot less painful for the consumer. It's in the manufacturer's interests to do this but they don't and it's baffling.

Great explanation.. I will be following this up with a tuning video. These cars love float.
Thank you for doing this Dave it is much appreciated.
Well said Dave, every brand is different and tuning technics differ wildly. hopefully this will help out those having issues. nice conversation.

Excellent explanation there!!!! PLUS watch out that the cables don't press the body up via the inlet, the minimum rattle in the rear is very important
Very very good video Dave! Thank you so
Much!
Excellent information!
Thanks Dave, had a frustrating first race with the 510 over the weekend, now I know why. Thank you 🙏
Great video Dave. It will help people to enjoy the cars like we do ❤
Good video, I love my C5 Revoslot as it came but I might have a look at some of those tuning parts. Thanks for the heads up.
Excellent video.. love my revos once you get the hang of their set up.. this sums it up nicely 🤜
The chassis and body working in harmony together. Good stuff.
Thanks for the info Dave and yes it was a very good chat.
As I haven't had a chance to put my Datsun on the track yet, I'm very glad you've made this video Dave! Thank you!
So true, not to mention that there is a fine line between the tires rubbing and not rubbing, once you get it, the car runs great 😊
Excellent explanation of the RevoSlot system! Thanks 🏁

Nice info I don't have one but now I now know how they work if I ever do decide to get a Revoslot, The system they use looks really nice too!
they are amazing cars
Nicely done Dave.

Very useful video Dave I'm sure many will find it helpful, I did and have shared this great bit of information 👍
Awesome, thank you!
Dave my Problem is that the 2 RevoSlot’s that I have both did not run out the box at all
Because all the Srews were loose on the motor on both cars

Neither did my Opel kadette. But they are hobbyist cars. You need to work at them.
