OK, OK I’ll be back in the garage tonight! I doubt there were wood kits available back in the day. If there were, I sure didn’t know about it. Replacing it with steel was the real deal. Looking good!
Great to see you making steady progress on the 'Working Man's Sedan'. Amazing how just fitting the windshield surround transforms the look of the car. The video editing is excellent with you showing little snippets of this is the way I do it, and anyone who's into fabricating will appreciate these insights into your approach to building this Old Hotrod.👍👍
For me its get out to my driveway! I'm going, I'm going! Your clips are just the right length. Drink my coffee and GO. I like the fact you keep hammering. Built not bought. Sure you have to buy stuff, but fab what you can from what you have. This Hot Rod thing predated Catalogs and Amazon!
I think it would be very interesting to follow progress on this car after it goes to its new owner. No one ever seems to do that. I realize that all one can do is ask. I have had no luck when doing this but often the buyer fails to finish the project and it ends up in a "garage find" 20 years later.
Great job replacing the header and windshield Mike. You made it look easy! :) I was really glad that you got the wheel well location fixed. Also, very glad you did move the body since that location caused the problem. You are indeed a good teacher because if you haven't experienced a task, you either have the instinct to figure it out or know where to get the information. That makes for some fun videos as well as helping beginners working on projects. Thanks for another and best wishes to you both!
Thank you so much. I’ve never considered myself any type of teacher. I guess this video series has really allowed me to show my thoughts, ideas and reasons for the way I do things while rebuilding or building an old hotrod. I’m very humbled by the response. Thank you 🙏🏼.
You've got a Good approach -- and it's coming along --- Maybe you don't realize it -- but you are teaching us -- So, we will call you MASTER ------ Thank you for the video ----- Rodney
Thank you so much. I really appreciate that, I guess I never think much of people learning as they’re watching. I’m simply just showing how I’m doing things. It really is a good feeling people are able to take something from each video and hopefully apply it to thier own build. That’s really cool. Thank you again. Mike
I so wish my 30 had a swing out windshield, it was built as more of a street rod so the windshield is glued in. Gotta try and figure out if I can convert it back. Loving the build and it made me subscribe. Keep 'em coming
Keep them coming Mike! You did say -10. We had a little of that over here in England in January but it was very wet for a few weeks after. Now we are getting sunny days cold nights. I really don’t like the cold. What sort of temps do you expect for the north east drags? Stay safe all the best .Tim.
Howdie Mike ya got this its nice to see that l,m not only one living in the cold shop here getts to minus 40 shop gets pretty chilly here in Canada 🇨🇦 SK we get 55 below with the wind takes lot of wood and oil to get to normal were the tools don,t stick to your fingers anyway nice too know that ya got ideas too that make it happen ya my 28 Essex not sure if it had wood or not it has suide doors lots of problems to get body together but another time keep it up ya got my vote thks for sharing like this alot
If you watch a RUclips episode by LGKustoms he did a 32 sedan that had the same positioning problem that your car has. It looked easy, simple and very clean.
Progress looks great. Will you fill in the roof? I understand the financial deal with the car and the channel but the more you do it must be something that you wouldn’t mind keeping. Thanks again.
I thought of it. Not sure I have the metal for it. I thiughtbof looking for material to do a vinyl insert also. But don’t want to cheap out on it. I’m not sure. I’ll probably just leave it as is. Let the next person decide which route they want to go. I will definitely not keep the car. I’m low on space and I have several projects that need my attention. Not to mention I already have a sedan and two drivers at the moment. Mike
Awesome video and channel!! Seeing this has just saved me a ton of money going with the wood. Quick question. What size steel stock is that? 1” x 2” or 1” x 2 1/2”? And how thick is it?? Again, love the vids. Especially the working man’s hot rod vids. 🤙

Do you really have the furnace vent, blowing into a chimney liner?? The furnace guy inside me is screaming right now..B vent is cheap! I can’t see the brand of that furnace, but you should be able to hang it horizontally, plus it should be up off the floor, atleast 2ft above any possible combustible fumes.
Thanks for another , I will always be here as long as you are making videos brother !!
Yep, me too.

Thanks so much.
I enjoy your clever solutions to the problems encountered with building old cars. You should have gone into engineering. I'm loving this project.

Really finished off the front of the body with the windshield frame in. I appreciate all the kind words. Thank you 🙏🏼.

Ya. I’m hoping I can follow its path. It will certainly be something I ask the new owner when it comes time.

Mike that was great, home built talent, can't wait to see what is next
Thanks Nelson. I really appreciate that.
Simply solution thanks

Looks great! Might be good to move the rear. Presentation is important when selling …a potential buyer might think its fd up… imo
I still have to build a windshield for my 30 Plymouth 4dr. Nice job on the car!
Thanks !
The window looks awesome Mike !! Thanks again for your time and the videos. PS come on warm weather.😂😂
Haha. Man it was a cold one. It’s been pretty nice since. Considering it’s February.

Looking good. There is a sheet metal panel in front of the wood header. A lot of places call it "panel above windshield"
Oh that’s right. I forgot about that panel. I know what you’re talking about.
I’m just making it up as I go. Haha. Thanks for the knowledge.
Mike
@This Old Hotrod No worries man. I like your builds. 👍
If you watch a RUclips episode by LGKustoms he did a 32 sedan that had the same positioning problem that your car has. It looked easy, simple and very clean.
My car is fixed, I simply moved the body forwards. Only took a few hours at most to recreate the rear floor
Great video as usual, thanks!
Thanks Kurt !

Wonder if might be easier to cut the wheel well loose center on the tire and re weld in position
I looked at all options. It’s been corrected.
I moved the body forwards.

Hey Mike I looked at the last Video 3or4 times didn't hear the make of the Steering Column & Box? Also what Was the Cubic inch on the Chevy?
Steering box is a Willy’s truck 1940’s to 60’s. The motor is a 1960 Chevy 283 w a powerglide

Yup. I do. It’s temporary. Waiting to hang it up. It works fine as it is. I shut it off when I’m not in the shop
