    I own this pen next to my more expensive fountain pens, and I gotta say nothing writes and draws a line as smooth as this one. Even with its EF nib, there is zero scratchy feeling and never misses a mark. It's butter smooth and I love it.

      Pilot makes the best nibs in my opinion. There are other brands that I have enjoyed, but the experience is always dependent on the ink and the paper. From my $3 Pilot Petit 1 to the E95s and Custom 74 and several pens between, writing with them has been a joy, regardless of the ink and paper.

      I agree, mine is a smoother writing instrument than any of my Sailor or Pelikan pens and the design is excellent and a quarter of the price. I prefer to use cartridges and refill them with various colours from time to time.

      @@gadgetstop321 - Actually, I decided on different pens before I ordered. The gold nib pens I ended up getting were the Sailor PG Slim with a music nib. I’d been wanting to try one for a while since I really enjoy thicker lines. And a Pilot 74 with a broad nib. And then I got one with a steel nib, a Diplomat Aero with a broad nib. The Aero is a gorgeous pen in silver and blue. I’ve written letters with both the Sailor and Diplomat. I’ll just say I’ll have to find the right paper for that Music nib. The Aero is amazing. For a steel nib, well, I doubt you could find better. I haven’t tried the Pilot 74 yet.

I love the retro look and since the 60's are my era this just feels right. It's also my next level pen, I love my Lamy Safari and my Pilot Metropolitan but I can't wait to get my hands on this pen. Thank you for your lovely video.

    This pen is remarkable. I have the same exact one as you. I got it almost 2 years ago when I bought a bunch of Japanese pens at a time (Pilot, Sailor and Platinum), so I kind of neglected it among my other pens. But recently started to use it with Noodler's Ink, and I can't believe how amazing this pen is. It's almost the perfect pen (a point is lost because of the limited ink capacity in the converter/cartridge).

    • @gadgetstop321
      @gadgetstop321  5 лет назад +1

      It would be easy for a pen to get lost in the shuffle considering the pens you listed - they're all top notch. I don't mind the small ink capacity. Since mine has a fine nib, it doesn't go through ink very quickly. However, I wish I could see how much ink was in the converter. The main problem I encounter when using the E95s is that I always get ink on my thumb. I will tell myself to hold the pen higher, but I get caught up in what I'm writing and let my grip slide down too close to the nib. I think if I used this pen more often, holding it higher would become a habit.

      @@gadgetstop321 Yeah, I went kinda nuts with the purchases that month. I had been out of the country for a couple of years before that, and where I was at, it was extremely expensive to have anything shipped to me. So when I returned to the States, I kinda went crazy purchasing pens I had wanted to purchase before leaving the country, and it put a big dent in my wallet lol. Kinda regret some of the purchases right now, but the Pilot Elite turned out to be a purchase I'm happy with :). Great review!

    The overall shape and nib design reminds me of my recently acquired Waterman Carene and the Carene nib reminds me of another in my small collection, the Schaefer nibs. Love them all. I need to get my hands on this Pilot.

    I’m just like you lol, i got this pen in medium and the same colour you have for myself as a self Christmas present. It’s my first gold nib pen, and while it’s not my first pen over 100 dollars (I’m aussie lol) it is most certainly my most expensive pen. I’m so excited for it to come in the mail that I’m watching every video about it haha

    I have the same pen and the black and gold as well. I also have two Pilot Vanishing Points amongst my collection. Lately, Pelikan has been my favorite pens and purchases, but if I was forced to choose one pen, I would choose this for the sleek design. Pelikan would be my second choice for the piston fill barrel. I thoroughly love the look, feel, and performance of the e95s!

      I have fallen back in love with my E95s since I started inking it up with KWZ Honey. I just love that pen and ink combination. I've never tried a Vanishing Point or a Pelikan. Those are two (of the many) pens I'd like to get in my hand the next time I'm able to get back to a pen shop or a pen show.

    I just love mine so much. It’s just a gorgeous nib, and I just love a pen that posts well and balanced. I had to buy the black one too. Love the feel of the cap and post mechanism. I know what you mean! The capping and posting is just perfect. Pilot is so attentive to all the little details. And this color combo is gorgeous. It would be nice to be able to see the ink level, but that's definitely not a deal breaker.

      If you do decide to get one, shop around. I paid full price at Goulet, but they can be gotten much cheaper. Pilot Jack's up the price that US retailers must charge, but you can get one from a Japanese seller (through Amazon) for much less.

    I had a bit of blue day this week and ordered one of these. I definitely understand your comment about pens being your accessories. I feel like that too, my shoes are shredded and I always use the same bag, I hardly use any jewellery, so my pens right now are my weakness.
    I am considering a no buy year (on pens and inks) but I saw a pen on sale that’s discontinued :( So I’m not sure what to do. I could make it a project I guess, getting to know my pens deeply, and all the ink samples I’ve got.

    I just got one and this is really nice pen. It seems to sit with me well. I just wish it was a little heavier. And yes I do not feel any bounce to it. I will be scared to take it out anywhere. It is too fancy. I would be scared someone would take off with it.

  • @alexmood6407
    @alexmood6407 5 лет назад +2

    I enjoyed your review but there are some factual mistakes I would like to correct. The cap does not click on at any point. The noise you hear is from cap getting stopped by the central band. Cap is kept in place by clutch mechanism, very similar to the one you find in Parker 51.
    I agree with you it’s very light but sturdy pen. I was surprised how scratch resistant it is.
    It looks vintage because it is very similar to the original Pilot Elite. This long short format was the most popular pen format in 60s and 70s Japan. Elite was best known and best selling of these long short models and many erroneously think it was the first. From what I can find Platinum was first who came up with this format.
    Don’t start me going on the fallacy that gold nibs are more flexible than steel. It makes me disparage on the standard of science knowledge. If anyone says this to me I always tell them to read up on Young’s modulus and get a Brause nib.

    • @gadgetstop321
      @gadgetstop321  5 лет назад +1

      I read up on Young's Modulus (I read the 1st paragraph of the Wikipedia page) and I'm glad my gold nibs aren't flexy - I like a nice fine line.
      Thanks for correcting my mistakes. I need to pay closer attention to the details.

    • @alexmood6407
      @alexmood6407 5 лет назад +1

      gadgetstop321 I think the confusion is between plasticity and elasticity. Gold has good plasticity and is easily deformed but for flex nib you want high elasticity so that metal will return to his original shape.
      But carry on your good work, it was good to watch.

    Love both, but comparing the E95s to a TWSBI is like comparing a Ferrari to a Jeep. The E95s is a pen that Lauren Bacall would use in Casablanca…the TWSBI would then be for Indiana Jones.
