I LOVE when my “reading mojo” comes back. I’ll crush 15 or 20 in a few months and then I’m over it for a while. I usually watch something not too complex while I knit and spin. On the audiobooks- I’m not sure where you live but in the US we have the Libby app that connects to your local library system and I get free audiobooks there.
While I am spinning I usually listen to Haptic and Hue or the long thread media podcast. When knitting or crocheting I watch some RUclips videos. When weaving there’s always some music in the background. I love reading in bed. It feels comforting and doesn’t remind me my PhD years when I had to be able to read all the time, everywhere, about almost every possible theory. And for more consistent yarn there are a few tricks for long draw you can tie up a mark to keep working on the same path. I find working with thinner/smaller batches of fiber easier too. Hugs from Provence, Adrien🎉❤
@@dordystudio you’re most welcome. I don’t know anyone interested in spinning IRL. The few people here in France have a totally different aesthetics than mine: it’s more about historical accuracy, wearing traditional clothing… I am more on the funky side of things! If you’re celebrating I wish you the best of time during the holiday season. Merry Christmas! 🎄 hugs!
I always like to remind myself that one of the more sought after and expensive commercial yarns, called spin cycle, is actually meant to mimic handspun yarn in its consistency and its color shifting. So if that helps at all, they're trying to use machines to make yarn look like it was made by a person lol! Your yarn is gorgeous and that color way is fab 🌈
earl grey is black tea with bergamot oil added, and lady grey is basically earl grey with lemon zest added:)) and oh i love the finished result! and the aesthetic montage of the finished, washed up yarn!!! and i cannot for my life listen to audiobooks while knitting, because there are just so many aspects of it that are bothering me (if I don't enjoy the reading person's voice, I'm out). i usually just watch something light while crafting:)
I love to read while I'm knitting (if my work isn't too complicated) but it's audio books or Netflix while spinning. I've realised I prefer biography or nonfiction for audiobooks because I'll get distracted and miss important plot parts if it's fiction hahaha. Listening to Bad Taste by Natalie Olah rn while working on my first sweater spin and it's a pretty perfect mix!!
When I found your channel a couple months ago I was working on my first free-form sweater so I hung out with you a lot while I knit that project, haha! 💖
I read on my kindle while I knit/crochet! I couldn’t imagine trying to read a traditional book while crafting but my kindle is so accessible! I wish I bought a kobo cos kindle is owned by Amazon (f bezos!!), but any e-reader would be good!
Favorite things to do while knitting are watching ur vids and madebyjin and expression.el and Jenna Phipps but also love podcasts, audiobooks and bachelor in paradise or any other dating show lol. But prefer knitting/ fiber arts/ free handing content above all else feels like maxing out creativity it’s wonderful

For audiobooks the public library has them for free (here in Brisbane and most other places). They are my go to for while I’m knitting

ahh good to know!! it’s so yummm!!
i totally feel that with the narrator thing - it can ruin the whole experience if i don’t like the voice haha
I’ve been toying with the idea to delve into spinning and this is making me want to take the plunge !
do it do it do it!!!
