Because she probably doesn’t want to do music. They forced it on her and I just don’t see her career going anywhere after this debut album. Normani not being active on social media and having a conversations with her fans. It shows me she struggles with being social
@@pjartisticsSomeone finally said it! Normani doesn’t seem to be that interested in music. I think she likes dancing, performing, modeling and being famous. I don’t think she has a passion for music. You don’t ever see her singing songs on social media or writing music like Chloe or Halle do. Music isn’t her passion, people wanted her to be a big artist and she don’t care about music clearly lol. Her album reflects that. The album was decent, but the songs are all generic and lack depth.
@@mimia.4810literally people are acting like it takes a huge budget to put more effort in in her end . She needs to be loud about her album but her social media is literally just the bare minimum for it .
I would blame RCA but I’m also blaming normani 🤦🏾♀️ because didn’t Chloe & Halle do performances in their backyard when the pandemic hit?! What about tiny desk at home?! Like why can’t she do a mtv diary on her RUclips channel?! Damn!! We have more & better ideas than her team. This crazy and it was lackluster.
I completely agree with you. While it may not be feasible to fund a large-scale production or secure an interview with one of the Jimmy's, there are still so many different ways the rollout could've been better that didn't require a ginormous budget. I understand that she's had bad experiences with social media in the past, but dang it, turn off the comment section and take that leap of faith 🕸! This is your career. Thank you so much for watching 🧚🏾♀️💕✨️🪷.
I agree! And I also was thinking that she needs to stop trying to do everything on a grand scale and build herself from the ground up at smaller venues to establish a legit fan base
@@thepopculturefairy Excactly! Or she could get someone else to post for her. Could have gotten a dedicated fan to intern, the possibilities are really endless.
If her album was released in summer 2021 when wild side was blowing up on TikTok she could’ve had a solid debut and could’ve toured the album already 😭🫶
I think we’re all confused. Maybe she just doesn’t want this like we thought she did. She spent literal years talking about how special a debut is and how you don’t get another first album yet…here we are and she just drops the album and disappears. This form of a rollout is so boring, what’s the shame in promoting your shit and making it exciting? for fans that have been waiting since 2017/18?
I'm confused why she hasn't released the Candy Paint music video. Summer is almost over and that song could've been an R&B summer bop. Girl, so confusing.
Honestly, I am dissapointed by this era too but I think ya'll are giving Normani too much power. She's been saying repeatedly that this is not how she wanted her release to go and RCA is obviously sabotaging her and not giving her any budget or freedom to do what she's supposed to be doing. It's quite sad honestly because it's like she's in the same predicament she was in when she was apart of 5H.
It would have been enough if we'd had more to chew on, teebs. The music is a solid 8 out of 10. It's just missing... literally everything else (music videos, promo, performances...) to jeuje it up and bolster it. It's like you can have the most delicious lettuce but no one wants to eat lettuce by itself. We need that salad of an ERA to give us all the different elements and make it more than the sum of its parts! That's what makes this rollout so frustrating because all of the raw ingredients are there.
I understand that she is limited by her label but there is so much stuff that she is in control of: fashion, social media, going live she can control. It’s hard to continue rooting for someone when it feels like they put in minimal effort on the surface
Maybe she feels like she needs a big team behind her. She was used to being in a girl group that was heavily backed and controlled and promoted. So maybe she feels lost without it. Idk though I agree with you.
This! Why would I root for an artist that never post videos or covers of them singing. There’s so many musicians that have way less fame and support than she does, yet they always promote themselves on social media.
Her career is being sabotaged by the label. She should quit and put out the music she likes… unless they trademarked her name and voice. Then she’s in for a very long legal battle.
I am very happy that you are finally seeing what I have seen for years. Normani does not want to be a star. She wants to be a socialite who makes music once a year and dances every blue moon. She wants to sit by the beach with women who have no talent but are pretty such as Jordan Woods and Lori Harvey for example. That's what she wants, let's allow her the peace to have that life.
@@imParisthoeecan you blame them? I mean, music is on the decline in general. By the time they pay their label and team, they are making less than big name influencers.
@@imParisthoeelaissez Chlöe en dehors ça. Elle n’est pas le sujet de cette vidéo, laissez la tranquille. i think my main disappointment with normani is that yes even if she has a terrible record company or $50 budget, i don't feel and see her hustling to promote her work like she should be. no budget for a video, no late night show? ok drop a live performance/rehearsal/dance practice video on your channels. where is the flood of tiktok promo other than looking cute? latrice made choreo/dance challenge for candy paint, normani did it once and that's it. i've seen lots of artists do a lot more with less than when she has, so at this stage i can only assume she doesn't want it as much as we thought she did.
the problem is normani thought she was on (current) beyonce level, beyonce in her early days had to do everything to be everywhere to promote herself and her music
Oh hunee, trust me, her PR is shyyyyte! I've worked with them with another huuuge star, and you'd think you were working with 12 yr olds if you had to deal with them. They dropped the ball on everything!!! So friggin disorganized. I can see how they probs put her on the backburner
I’m so over Normani, she finally dropped the album and then disappeared, clearly she’s not hungry for superstardom nor is she passionate about music. 5-6 years and while I think the album is a Decent body of work, most of the tracks are forgettable aside from candy paint and insomnia. This was supposed to be her DEBUT, a chance to truly stamp herself in pop culture and as a future music icon and she missed every mark to do it. No major tv appearances, no late time show performances/interviews, no TikTok’s dance challenges to promote her candy paint record (that initially had some traction before the album is dropped), no connecting with the fans just nothing. Normani is a chop and I’m moving on to the next.
She can only do so much because they do not prioritize her or marketing her. It’s taken this long for no fault of her own. She does need to get better and have more confidence in her craft but being shelved for like 5 years while everybody else in her group releasing projects is obviously gonna effect her
@wrldpeace123 yes and with wild side she had to put in her own 1 million $ because the label wouldn’t and they shelved her longer because they didn’t like she spoke on it , RCA the colorist
RCA has done many artist really badly, they manage to get certain artist a great jump start then the rest of the journey's a whole mess. For example Tinashe, Zayn Malik had huge debut singles then faded away. Khalid was all over the place around 2017-2019 era now he kind of been here and there occasionally, and def Normani currently. So much anticipation around 2019-2021ish.
We have to honest about Normani . I sympathize with her helping out her parents who were diagnosed with cancer, but I felt like she waited too long. The album isn’t bad but it isn’t good either. She could’ve done more promotion and choose songs that were catchy. She barely did any promotion and I don’t know what’s going on. As a fan , I hope she finally reaches the potential she deserves.
At this point everyone involved with her career including herself is to blame. Like girl your momentum was so high with motivation and wild side. She should have just released years ago and take that as a learning experience and keep growing through the years. She is so late on her development and I’m starting to not really Care about her music anymore. I think Leigh Anne from little Mix can take her place as the new RnB and pop girl. She’s not known in America much but her music is way better.
@@thepopculturefairy thank you so much. I love little mix they deserved so much in America but they still became legends. I’m loving jade and Leigh Anne’s solo work the most so far especially the music choices Leigh Anne has made. I’m gonna be seated for that video 🤗
@@thepopculturefairy honestly I love perrie very much but her music is too generic and her music has not been well received by the general public. Everyone is calling it generic and the fact that none of the song are written from her felt unauthentic. She did for the first time in her career write a lot in her album but her two singles were songs sent to her. She is better than what she has given us. Everyone thought she’d be the one making the most noise because of her popularity and beautiful powerful Celine Dion type of vocals but it’s jade and Leigh Anne in the spotlight. Jade and Leigh Anne are the only members to make a billboard and both have the most listeners on Spotify. I’m pleasantly pleased people are loving Leigh Anne’s music (especially her EP album)given how she was treated poorly in the group and how most mixers left her side when they went solo.
@lillylilly5714 Yesss, exactly this. I thought she would come out with either an Adele Rolling in the Deep OR a Hayley Williams because of her connection with rock music. The music is fine but I really expected so much more. Like this girl can SANG. Then, we learn that JADE is also a vocal powerhouse. I love it, I just think Perrie needs to find her footing. 🧚🏾♀️✨️
She doesn’t want it. Her actions and that explanation in the Terrell show is very telling. Maybe she could be a choreographer or a dancer. I know dancing has always been her first love. Oh and there’s nothing wrong with her leg. My sis just seen her walking around and LA on her vacation shortly after she announced that. At this point, yeah, she just don’t wanna do it.
i think a lot of people looked over the album due to normani taking forever to release it, but in my opinion the album is worth listening to! like you said, it’s a solid album and has some gems. we all know normani can do better and hopefully she gets to release more music consistently in the future but for a debut album, dopamine is great. when it first dropped, i wasn’t too excited about it but when i sat down and took the time to listen to the album it grew on me a lot!
I don’t know bout yall but i was GAGED on first listen, i could be due to the fact that i dont listen to that much rnb but bro the first half of the album is filled with boooooppsss
Normani needs to completely strip her self down and promote her self as a brand NEW artist we've never seen before by building her self from the ground up and actually touch people by performing at local malls, bars, and small venues. She thinks she's supposed to do everything on a grand scale when we still barely know her!
Normani is so confusing. How she allowed Candy Paint to get away from us is beyond me. And NOT a single word or performance since the album dropped? Like, gurl?
While the debut album was okay, it was still underwhelming. I’m hoping her second album and other future works will be bangers. Sad to say though I’ve definitely stepped off the Normani hype train.
Years ago there was a blind item that alleged that Normani was very happy with the large amount of money she was bringing in doing appearances, social media, and being an influencer. This was when she was attending fashion week, dancing in the WAP video, and doing SavagexFenty. It also alleged that RCA was asking for her album then but she couldn't be bothered. I think there may be some truth to that because of her saying in interviews that she handled some situations irresponsibly. Then her parents were sick, so she held out longer. My best guess is that RCA felt the album that was started years ago no longer resonated with today's sound, and overhauled it completely against her wishes. She probably felt forced to record music she wasn't passionate about. She's clearly over this album. RCA is clearly over her. I don't think this is because of racism or colorism or whatever. I think a petty, ruthless record label got tired of waiting and punished her by giving her zero dollars to promote a 7/10 album. With that said, I don't think she wants to be a pop star. I don't think she wants superstardom. I think she just wants some degree of fame to be an influencer and make some singles here and there. I don't know what record label is going to want an artist like that, once she inevitably is dropped by RCA. Not in a world with new and exciting acts like Chappell Roan, existing creative interesting cats like Charli XCX and legacy acts like Nicki all vying for the same airspace on the same charts. She also doesn't seem like she has a personality??? Which is crazy because look at her talent and stage presence. She's also so gorgeous. Another RUclipsr said that these girls don't know how to work. They dont know how to hustle like back in the day when artists had to sell RECORDS like Mariah Carey, Shakira, Madonna etc
I think she just kinda gave up at one point… also in the few interviews she did for the album release she seemed more sad/disappointed/depressed than excited about it being finally out
look, I'm always gonna be here for Normani, whenever she decides to be the star that she can, but right now, she should step back and reconsider, from an artistic point of view: what are her impulses, as a pop girly? what are her aestetics, her drives? i think that she was downplayed by RCA, no doubt, but there is a limit to just not try anything, not even a tiktok live to promote the album, not anything. maybe she has given up, who knows...
good point about the subject matter of her songs. she seems like a more private person but writing about her specific struggles besides just s3x and romantic songs can help her stand out from other artists. also it’s possible to do some promotion even with a limited budget. charli even talked about how your own fans can be your biggest marketing team. if she built enough hype among the dedicated fans through in-person or online connection fans would’ve used word of mouth to spread the coming of the album. plus you can always post on social media. maybe even appear on her artist friends’ social media. maybe she’s more passive though and thinks she can still rely on the record label. or maybe she rushed to sign with rca when it seems like they want a more mainstream pop girl, and another record label would’ve fit her style better. she should’ve probably taken a year or two off after fifth harmony instead of releasing singles back to back, so she could truly decide what direction she wanted to go in
Precisely, I noticed a comment here suggesting that Normani may be experiencing financial difficulties. While I prefer not to speculate on someone else's financial situation, it's not unheard of that some artists in the music industry do not reap the financial rewards of mainstream success. Normani herself mentioned in a previous interview that she had to invest a significant amount of her own money into the music video for "Wild Side," and a former bandmate stated that the residuals from Fifth Harmony are not substantial. Despite these challenges, there are still cost-effective methods for promoting an album, starting with building a strong fan base. Thank you for watching 🧚🏾♀️🩷✨️.
@@thepopculturefairy this could def be part of it! But it’s confusing bc to make money in music you have to make music, promote it, so you can go on tour. A lot of her peers who are now popping off aren’t balling like Chappell roan and Tinashe. If I were her if it’s not her label stopping her I would’ve tried to book festivals, tour as a supporting act and then tour as a main act.
I mean she’s been through a lot these last could have years, and the hype for this project completely overshadowed her debut project. We all love Normani and I think it’s only right to give her the space so she can be with her family. If you guys were put in the same scenario I’m almost positive that a lot of yall would fold under the same pressure.
It’s been YEARS with what she went through. At this point she’s just lazy and needs to get out of constant victim mentality. Put in the work if you are passionate. If not retire and go pick up a shift
@@Brian-qo6gcI agree, it may sound harsh to some but Normani isn’t putting the work in to stand out from her peers. It sucks because I liked her debut album, and I’m not even a fan. Normani got co-signs from other artists such as Nicki and Ariana. She is just letting this opportunity slip through her fingers and go down the drain.
@@Brian-qo6gc once again, if you were in her shoes you would’ve folded. She is not thinking about an album. She only have one set of parent. I’m sorry if that hard for you to comprehend you must not be from a loving home. I hope you find one, one day. Godspeed
@@mluna1898 I think she delivered a solid debut album. Would it have been nice if she did more, yes I totally agree with you on that. However you have to remember she’s signed to a trash label that has a track record of not promoting their artist. The people that you referenced are established artist that are already signed to much larger label that have the capital and pull to make sure that their artists are getting the investment that they need to be successful.
The label and management are the main issues with this Normani project. There is plenty going on behind the scenes, which is evident in how she even answers certain questions in interviews. She plays it very safe when speaking on matters surrounding the label. I do believe a lot of it is Normani's own doing, however. From the looks of things, the label isn't giving her any money or support for this album and I believe it has a lot to do with Normani taking so much time off (them not being able to "strike while the iron was hot") and then her coming back and not moving in the direction they wanted for her as an artist. Normani didn't even do what she could to work this album on her own. RCA wanted an urban pop star and for whatever reasons Normani wants to be seen as an r&b artist. On a label like RCA, that simply won't work. Normani should've followed the trajectory that was planned for her from the beginning. Once successful, she could've transitioned into the more urban music she wants to do. The label is over it and apparently so is the public. Not a great album, but a good one nonetheless. 7/10
@@bastetowl3258 and it makes sense. Her pop songs have been very successful and not to mention she has a beautiful pop voice. Why not embrace that ? Insane.
@@TheUrbanGentAOBI think it all goes down to authenticity. She wanted to put out a record she could be proud of, one that showed the direction she wanted to go in. I think even though she sacrificed her permanent spot in the mainstream, Normani is kind of brave for putting out a body of work in the direction she wanted, rather than what the label wanted, even if it came out to be a little underwhelming.
She should’ve included “Waves” feat 6LACK, Love Lies With Khalid, and Motivation on the track list to boost sales. I understand she didn’t really have as strong of a connection to these records as her newer material, but it still would’ve helped.
@@Hunkzilla exactly and Normani didn’t even like majority of the songs on her own album LMAOOOO and her fans are wondering why the general public didn’t care .
Honestly after 3 years waiting for Normani’s album I became so over it I didn’t care if it came anymore. It’s hard to support an artist that doesn’t want it as much as you want it for them. I completely understand that RCA did her dirty and her parents being sick but in all the years Normani kept saying “the albums coming” she was always seen out at parties and events when she should’ve been connecting with ppl in the industry and building connections to make a great album instead an “it’s ok it’s vibes” album. We saw what Doja did when her label wasn’t promoting her. She created her own videos, played music on live and interacted with fans, and she doesn’t even like her fans! Normani could be doing things like that. Just go live and interact with fans and post acoustics. Sabrina Carpenter recently posted a cover on tiktok that went viral and it was just her singing while playing piano. Idk but there was a time when so many eyes were on Normani a perfect time to self-promote. Now there’s less eyes on her especially with the release of her anti-climactic album that shouldn’t have taken 5+ years to make. Idk but I still hope for the best for her and hope she reaches her true big potential but if it doesn’t happen then oh well
That's cause RCA only gives a damn about investing into Doja Cat & Chris Brown🙄🙄 They mishandled both Tem's & Bryson Tiller's albums. It's way too many super stars on their roster, but Doja & Chris are the only ones consistently being pushed I even hated the way they handled Sza's SOS rollout, and she was literally outcharting Taylor Swift like come tf on
@@MannysMillennialMouth that’s not true , Tems album performed well internationally. & RCA gave plenty of promo to Tems (MV, Visualizers, etc ) , even Bryson gets support he’s on his 4th album with them .
Chris has been popular for the last what 15 years ? He brings them money thats why they're investing in him. Plus, like him or hate him, the dude is still making hit albums hit tours, and he is bringing them a bank. Same with doja, if she did not go viral with Moo, they would not put all that backing behind her now, now that she is popular she brings them money.
Not enough people are checking for her. She has reached her full potential. Also not every music act can be an A List superstar. Her, Chloe Bailey, Tinashe, they all seem to have the same problems and are also all interchangeable Pop-R&B girlie's.
i don’t agree. i think all 3 that you mentioned have their own unique style and are very talented. they just either have bad management or don’t release their best songs as singles. with chloe i think she just needs to find her style. right now she’s trying to be like a second sasha fierce instead of really being herself. with time she can become more authentic and write about more positive relationships
The difference between Normani and Tinashe/ Chloe is those two women actually work hard and consistently put out music. Especially Tinashe now that is a star, she actually has a different and unique style and actually puts out great music. Chloe is incredibly talented and works her ass off but she needs to allow songwriters to help her with her songs because they are either extremely mediocre or just suck. I heard her new album is great though so that's good to hear. Normani although a great dancer has a very mediocre voice and puts out the most forgettable music.
@@MorganRimming you don’t get to say Norman isn’t working hard. You don’t know her. I don’t even care about this album or the girl so as an outsider I can say you sound crazy.
Wasn't she just shooting a music video for Candy Paint? It's safe to say everyone has moved on, and the sad part is she would've been a successful pop star like Janet & Ciara
@thepopculturefairy oh I just wanted to say something regarding normanis injury, it seems to have healed since she doesn't seem to have her bandage anymore or any help (I forgot what the things are called to help her walk). So she should be fully healed/capable of walking fully now.
I was all in for Normani from the time she performed at the judges' houses on X Factor up until Motivation. You couldn't tell me this woman wasn't going to be THE it girl, she had all of the capability to stand out and change the industry, but she has no hunger and drive to be anything more than what she is now and if that's okay with her, so be it, but I'm not interested in any of the music she's putting out now because of it. She's talented but many people are and you have to play the game to win, not barely hang in there.
No shade but receive her flowers for what exactly (solo career)? She didn't do enough, she is basically all unfulfilled potential atp and personally, I always felt her fans wanted this superstardom pop girl career path for her more than she wants it for herself. There's no urgency when it comes to her career or connecting with fans at all. I doubt her label is stopping her from promoting on socials. She doesn't want it bad enough and that therein lies the 'problem'. Personally she looks way happier to me when doing brand related collabs in fashion or mingling on the scene as a socialite. I don't think she cares for music like that anymore and honestly, I get it, the music industry is exhausting and not for everyone. I hope she finds happiness in whatever it is for her.
As a massive 5H fan, the exact moment that everything turned sour was when Normani was declared "the next Beyoncé" by a whole new audience, impulsively based on a few award show performances + a couple solo + duet songs. The signature traits of Beyoncé can't just be projected onto an artist who is infinitely more alike Brandy, Ciara and Janet Jackson.
Fan engagement is what is likely killing this debut era more than anything. Even with Wildside she was still more fan engaged, dance trends, tiktok videos, posting videos of her fans, BTS of the dance practice, etc. and she even shared that RCA was not feeling Wildside (which I think is another issue, they want to push a different image than the one she has for herself) so I don't think we can completely excuse the difference in her online prescence on only that. It feels like a culmination of her personal family matters, RCA’s mismanagement, and honestly her fans voicing on her platforms they are losing faith, could have affected her confidence in this or want to engage. Regardless of whatever comes out of her solo career, I just hope she knows her talents still speaks volumes for itself for so many of us to be this passionate about wanting her to succeed. I also think it’s time for fans to realize not everyone is made to have the superstardom career they envision, it may come later, it may not come with music or may not at all. But it’s not everyone’s time.
Her career is being heavily sabotaged. They probably took ownership over her name and voice too. She might be scared. This has happened to many artists.
As a huge Tinashe fan, I’m very familiar with RCA and their tomfoolery. When they shelved Joyride for years and wouldn’t let her release the album how she wanted to, she released Nightride as a mixtape for the fans. It kept us engaged with her music and excited about her artistry. To this day Nightride is one of her strongest projects, and it really exposes how much RCA restricted her in comparison to the other projects she released under them. I’m not saying Normani should have to release a body of work as a mixtape (which doesn’t receive the same promo or budget as an album obvi) but give fans SOMETHING to chew on. Some little taste of your artistry or point of view. It’s amazing to me that Tinashe stayed hungry and ambitious while RCA was shelving her-it takes real perseverance to keep creating when you’re constantly being undermined. I know Normani has that perseverance and I think this whole album rollout has been a big learning experience.
The album was decent but could have been better. Normani herself said that she didn't care for some of the songs on the album. Watching her interview on The Terrell Show, I could tell she wasn't passionate about the album.
I love the album and a lot could be better on her end that even she has admitted when it comes to the rollout. but I feel like we're reaching the point of dogpiling now. Every other day, someone is making a video exactly like this or a thinkpiece on twitter and it's becoming an echo chamber. This has been happening for the past 5-6 years. Not to discredit you or your opinion, but if she don't care, I'm not about to badger her any longer. We all know she's a star and we want the best for her, but until she realizes that herself, this is all for nothing. Everyone will assume until one day she comes clean about what really went down and everyone will just be like "omg I feel so bad. I didn't know" after contributing to the negative perception ppl now have of her. I'm over it lol.
Im not making excuses for her but remember all the fans who harassed her for years saying hateful, mean racist things to her?? I feel like because of that experience its hard for her to connect with fans now...and honestly i dont blame her for be hesistant but just my opinion. She may need to switch labels because i found out about her album on tiktok! No promo or her interacting with fans like most artist do
Great video, i love Normani and was hoping for her to breakthrough with this album but i have to kind of agree with some of the other comments, im starting to get the impression she doesn’t want this as much as the fans want it for her - either that or she’s had some really bad luck/things working against her
Thanks for watching ( ^ω^ ) 🧚🏾♀️✨️🪷. I really want to believe she wants it consider that she told a fan to stfu on Twitter one time for vocalizing the same thing.
I think the biggest thing is lyrically we got nothing new and learned nothing about her. Wouldn’t that have been important and so great to have as apart of the debut album that (you can’t redo) that she cared so much about?? It makes me pretty disappointed because there could’ve been so much more musically she could’ve touched on.
Normani is destined to be a pop superstar she just needs a new label tbh. It's clear that she can't operate on her own accord meanwhile the label is letting her hype and music die. She had the video for Candy Paint done before the album came out so where is it??? There has been no support and now with an injury no live performance potential. I'm going to support the hell out of this girl though so everyone who loves her should join me in that and not feed into all the flop talk and fake fans who care more about sales than artistry anyway.
@@WonderKingE hey, I’m with you there, however that’s not really the battle here. Based on success and appeal, Normani was actually being well received as a black pop star on the rise. She came from a pop group, so her audience has always viewed her as a pop artist. While many urban artists have that issue of being boxed as r&b solely based on their ethnicity, Normani luckily didn’t really have that plight (thanks 5th Harmony). Regardless to how she was labeled, the public viewed her as a pop star. She herself is pushing against doing pop or “crossover” music because she wants to be an r&b singer doing urban music. Actually, it would almost appear that she is trying to put herself in a box🤯. RCA (and apparently the public) isn’t interested in vibey r&b Normani. She put out a decent album, but it would appear the world wants urban pop star Normani.
@@WonderKingE NORMANI herself said she’s not interested in pop music lol that’s why she was doing all those RNB songs . The girl doesn’t want to be a superstar let it go !!
When I think about Normani's career, I'm torn between thinking that most of the problems are because of her perfectionism, but deep down I think there's much more behind it that we'll only find out a long time from now when she leaves RCA. I'm sure she's boycotted in many different ways there and by many people in the industry as a whole. Just think about how many mainstream dark skinned black popstars we've had so far 🤷🏾♀️
Has nothing to do with her skin color,,,,Grace Jones for example, walks in the room and everything stops, she can’t sing or dance but she has that thing… there is nothing about Normani that makes you stop and pay attention…Beautiful girl, very sexy and she can dance, but something about her makes you not stay engaged
@@banterj I disagree about Normani not having that thing but even so how many mediocre and manufactured white popstars do we have in the industry??? This is not the case... when the artist has the support and push from the industry there's no way out we see them everywhere and Normani never had that. Not even now for her debut album and being under a big label 😬😬😬😬
@@marianasaraiva8728 umm besides album promotion, there are a lot of things an artist can do to keep their followers engaged…it is not about an album,I don’t care about album…Cardi B for example, she hasn’t had an album out in like 6 years but she is so charismatic and interesting, that everyone forgot…NOTHING to do with record company promotions, nothing to do with light skin/darkskin,if you are interesting,it is up to you AND your management to get you the opportunities,it goes beyond album.
The thing about potential is sooner or later you have to deliver on it. Normani has had years and still hasn’t been able to deliver on her (alleged) potential. She’s over.
She should’ve kept that motivation pop sound coz that was working for her and waited to see the success of that and do her R&b sounds on her 2nd or 3rd album
I honestly don’t think it’s too late for her to promote this album. She just needs to go back to the drawing board and come up with concepts that will pull the GPS attention again. In the 2000s artist would’ve perform the same song over and over again until it reached top 10!
THIS! Absolutely totally. haha Everything you just said. The only thing I'd say differently is that All Yours is my fav track. But come on! What the heck with the singles and lack of promo? So weird.
Reach her full potential? She’s been in the industry for like what five years almost 10 years?. She’s not a new artist. Why are people acting like she’s this new artist that just came out a month ago or last year?! the chick had opportunities she just does not have it. she is just not that girl and her faux fans need to accept it. They didn’t even buy her albums or stream 😮her songs that shows you that they’re fake fans.
It took her so long to release an album, she was getting a lot of attention back in 2018 - 2020 but people started to get bored and lost interest already by the time she released an album. She should have taken advantage of her hot commodity back in 2019.
I am a Normani fan, and I believe she and her team should’ve taken more time to re-introduce listeners to who she was. Much listeners, specifically Black listeners, were only introduced to her because of the R&B appeal of Wild Side, and she gained their interest and support because of it! But, so much time passed, a lot of people forgot who she was, without a full resume of what she had already done, to encourage them to listen to the album. Your critique and notes were so accurate and I loved your ideas on how they could’ve marketed the album better using old school and new school methods. I feel like you could be apart of an A&R/artist management team for artists!
I wonder if Normani prefers an introverted, quiet life. After X-Factor and Fifth Harmony, maybe her desire for a Hollywood career has changed. Honestly, it could just be plain burn out. She's been in the industry for a long time and was fairly young when she entered.
Whats insane is that Normani has songs like the ones you're describing. She has a jazz, New Orleans inspired song reaffirming her confidence as a Black woman. She has a song talking about her insecurities and trying to love herself. She has a song talking about feeling lost and hoping to heal. The fact that she scrapped all of that meaningful, personal work that could've made fans feel closer to her makes me feel like she really doesn't want to be known in that way. I think she's decided that music should be fun and sexy and not overexposing. Maybe that's okay. If that's what she wants. But what an odd choice to make.
My main frustration is with her label and her history with social media holding her back. I feel weird speaking about someone I don’t know personally, but I just wanted to give my spiel lol. Her days with fifth harmony, traumatic experiences with social media, and overall existence as a dark skinned Black woman in music have aided her perfectionism and hindered her progress. She literally has a music video for one of the standout tracks on the album and CAN’T put it out. The VMAs are coming up and it would’ve been perfect for her to show up and show out with Candy Paint. It feels like she’s been trying really hard but mainly behind the scenes so we can’t fully grasp why certain moves aren’t being made. It’s disheartening seeing so many forces against her career trajectory that I can only hope for the best right now. I fully support her and I hope she continues to endure and make great music and perform
The reality of it all is she doesn't want it as a bad as we want it for her. She doesn't want to put the work in. I know she has troubles with her label but there are ways to put your name out there and make a name for yourself since she already has a following.
I swear to god I said the same thing about her hair. When I saw the cover and then all the promo I was like “your kidding me straight black hair with bangs… for everything?” Like she actually deliberated and chose that to be her “look” for the entire era. Idk what I was expecting or wanting but it wasn’t that. Ofcourse it’s not a bad look but it’s hardly an inspired look. I do love her silver painted body though for the cover! And she still is rocking the bangs to this day isn’t she? It’s to plain.
Everyone who wants music can get it free. These artists won’t sell records, but people will have the music. She flubbed her career. She should have released an album with Wild Side.
Normani needs to pull a Rihanna and do a Music of the Sun - a Girl Like Me back to back because this is so messy 😭 Apparently she had like 100+ songs for Dopamine so releasing another album next year should be the move, I think! But with way better care put into it because 😭 girl no
Ariana featuring on Take My Time would have been so FLAWLESS 😭 but I don't think Take My Time suits Ari's Eternal Sunshine sound so it makes sense why it's not real, but... god it would have been perfect. I can see it having the "I Don't Do Drugs" vision where Ari is a little more toned down and seductive. Such a shame 😔
Afrobeats would be perfect for Normani as well. She did a song called Checklist. It's so good and @jewelxiat if you like Take My Time I highly recommend this leaked song called Touch Myself, very similar vibe. Thank you for watching ( ^ω^ )🧚🏾♀️✨️🪷.
Your ideas for the promotion are great tbh. Her team should find your video! It’s a solid album and may be not anything spectacular but debut albums usually aren’t, she has time to develop her sound but I like every track on it.
I liked the album for what it was. There are a handful of songs that still have me in a chokehold (Still, All Yours, Little Secrets). This album suffers heavily from a lack of promotion on both Normani and her label’s part. This album seems like it would be good with an accompanying visual album, but I know her label won’t shell out money for that, since they aren’t promoting it at all. It’s just sad because I really want to see her win.
At this point can we all peacefully move on from Normani she is not going anywhere or achieving anything with the rate she is going at with her music career. i think it is pretty obvious that Normani has lost all motivation and drive when it comes to music the work effort and consistency is simply just not there. And i think it’s high time that Normani fans start holding Normani accountable for being a lazy artist, look i get she’s being sabotaged by her label and etc but when is Normani actually gonna put her foot down and start promoting herself and her music to keep herself relevant in the industry and keep her music career afloat and alive honestly Normani is played tf out and sabotaged herself there is no hope for her attaining Stardom being honest she should just look into modelling/acting and call it a day.
I think her career would be more successful if she was having more fun with it, and I don’t think that’s been possible given her 5H baggage/personal issues. I think it’ll be a difficult road to success for her, but I still think she can pull it off.
Yeah what's crazy is that over the past two or three years, artists/labels have NOT been putting fan favorite songs out as singles. This is a time when it is the absolute easiest to see what the fan favorite are so it's baffling that they don't take the opportunity.
@@thepopculturefairy honestlyyyy first of all I agree with all of your opinions, which are always very well informed!! but also omg your videos' visuals??? IKONIQUE!!!
I feel like she has acquired for herself a spirit of hesitation, slowing down, setbacks, too late ⏰, acquiese to defeat so kind of crawl and whisper instead of loudly stepping forward? It’s giving those types of energies IK record companies have the most control , but unless she’s tied up to a ball and chain ⛓️💥 at the record company hq, some of this lack of energy is on her
I think fans are very much entitled to their frustration to a degree, but people are being way too opinionated about Normani's motivations (haha). I haven't seen one single comment so far pondering the possibility of Normani being stuck in a professional bad place or going through something personal that she doesn't want to talk about. And maybe those could be reasons for her silence. Or maybe not, maybe she truly doesn't care. What I do know is that people are speculating a lot and projecting onto Normani when they could be very well ignoring her in peace and reinvest that energy into other artists.
I personally believe blame falls on both Normani and RCA. I get that she is under contract, so she has to do things their way, but she should be able to have some say. Normani, I think, has lost her passion. I feel like she just doesn't want it anymore, and that's ok if she doesn't. Making us wait 5 years for a lackluster album is just rude. I wish she had just done it completely differently. I wish she would just get out of her comfort zone. This video was very well researched and informative. Can you do an updated Chloe Bailey video and her new album??
I get what she was going through regarding her parents . I can relate .I recall when I was still in college ,my dad got diagnosed with cancer when I still had two more years left to complete the course I was studying for . He pretty much told me not to sit around being miserable and by constantly showing up to support him during chemo and just focus on finishing the course so that I can atleast have something to use to get a job in the future. I fought tooth and nail to pass and even ended up obtaining 7 distinctions . Unfortunately my dad would later die 7 months after my graduation but atleast I fulfilled his wish and he got to see me graduate . I would like to think that Normani's parents also told her to focus on making it as a solo artist while they also deal with their private battles. But Its very possible that Normani just doesnt want it badly enough . Afterall she doesnt seem to be mentally strong as it is evident when she was telling the world how being apart of Fifth Harmony took a toll on her mental health. She could have still tried to get her name out there by focusing on what would make her tick as an artist by releasing singles and working on her album while still supporting her parents at the same time. But to me it sounded like she recorded her album and completed it like 3 weeks before it was officially rolled out.
I’m trying to stay hopeful but we’re not getting enough consistency from Normani. She did not put out any performance visualizers or pop up anywhere and perform a song. That’s how an album is promoted. Y’all let keep her lifted in prayer. I’m very confused at this point.
i wiped my hands with normani and im hoping people realize its not RCA and management who’s holding her back.. its normani holding herself back she doesn’t want it so why should we keep bugging her?
THANK YOU!! 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿 and her fans swear it’s some major conspiracy to hold her back as if she has the talent of micheal jackson!!! “normani is being held back by rca because she’s darkskin” “rca has normani tied in their basement & she can’t move or post on her own social media” “the world doesn’t want normani to succeed because shes black” meanwhile we have SZA COCO JONES SUMMER WALKER JANELLE MONAE VICTORIA MONET CHLOE H.E.R. all doing well!!
@@christinem8799 it didn’t chart anywhere so it did suck lol & it wasn’t better than the first album . She was still talking about the same topics especially masterbating.
I think we got no rollout, videos or era essentially because I don’t think this is the album she wanted to put out in the form it’s in and it just got to the point where something had to be put out. I’m not sure if she’s left RCA yet but maybe releasing this album was a way to strategically get out of RCA by putting out decent songs while saving the better ones for later
I would love to see normani in concert, also the album is great just a wack rollout, also I believe there a lot of hostage towards her creativity with songs and videos for this album project
We waited 5 years for a mediocre album about sex. Artists have no range anymore just selling sex. I was rooting for her but I’m just over it at this point. She has the talent to do so much better.
This! This album shows me she has no emotionally depth, I’m only a fan of artist who’s music makes me feel things. All the songs are generic “I’m a baddie” and sex songs. For a woman who claims to have gone through so much regarding bullying, racism and sick parents you’d expect some sad personal songs.

People want it for Normani more than Normani wants it for Normani. I’ll die on that hill.
Haha just said that. Exactly. Like she still has access to a camera and the internet
mind you she's working with the same manager that raised Doja Cat to fame...
Not everyone can go from a successful group to a successful solo career.
RCA is screwing her over & she really can't say much
I'm confused why she hasn't released the Candy Paint music video.
No,she doesn’t have it…and she needs to be honest with herself and her fans to stop putting pressure on her.
the album was solid, but not enough after 5 years. i hate to say it. if it had released no later than 2022, i’d have no complaints
I’m not gonna lie … I completely forgot her album even came out… she literally disappeared after dropping
Speak on it! 🧚🏾♀️✨️
WE DONT EVEN HAVE PHYSICAL ALBUMS! 😩
wait, seriously...

This right here is the comment we are all thinking!!!!!!
And Chloe doesn’t know if she wants to be a star or a IG Baddie. Our girls have their priorities wrong

i think my main disappointment with normani is that yes even if she has a terrible record company or $50 budget, i don't feel and see her hustling to promote her work like she should be. no budget for a video, no late night show? ok drop a live performance/rehearsal/dance practice video on your channels. where is the flood of tiktok promo other than looking cute? latrice made choreo/dance challenge for candy paint, normani did it once and that's it. i've seen lots of artists do a lot more with less than when she has, so at this stage i can only assume she doesn't want it as much as we thought she did.

Right that would have been her chance to collab with latrice and maybe even have her in the candy paint mv, so many missed opportunities.
the problem is normani thought she was on (current) beyonce level, beyonce in her early days had to do everything to be everywhere to promote herself and her music
Pretty much
She didn't think she was on Beyoncé's level. People wanted her to be the next Beyoncé by comparing her all the time.
Agreed, not having 1 late night interview in your solo career is crazy work 🧚🏾♀️✨️.
@@thepopculturefairy exactly lol. Loved your take in This video. Keep it up 👍🏽
She can only do so much because they do not prioritize her or marketing her.
She is so late on her development and I’m starting to not really

@lillylilly5714 what about Perrie?
@@thepopculturefairy honestly
I love perrie very much but her music is too generic and her music has not been well received by the general public.

She's also so gorgeous. good point about the subject matter of her songs. she seems like a more private person but writing about her specific struggles besides just s3x and romantic songs can help her stand out from other artists. also it’s possible to do some promotion even with a limited budget. charli even talked about how your own fans can be your biggest marketing team. if she built enough hype among the dedicated fans through in-person or online connection fans would’ve used word of mouth to spread the coming of the album. plus you can always post on social media. maybe even appear on her artist friends’ social media. maybe she’s more passive though and thinks she can still rely on the record label. or maybe she rushed to sign with rca when it seems like they want a more mainstream pop girl, and another record label would’ve fit her style better. she should’ve probably taken a year or two off after fifth harmony instead of releasing singles back to back, so she could truly decide what direction she wanted to go in
Precisely, I noticed a comment here suggesting that Normani may be experiencing financial difficulties.
@thepopculturefairy yeah most of the most famous musicians are broke. Fame and success doesn't guarantee financial stability.
Valid 🧚🏾♀️✨️🪷.

yeah rca def wanted her to go the motivation route and be more poppy
@@bastetowl3258 and it makes sense. Her pop songs have been very successful and not to mention she has a beautiful pop voice. Why not embrace that ? Insane.
@@TheUrbanGentAOBI think it all goes down to authenticity. She wanted to put out a record she could be proud of, one that showed the direction she wanted to go in. I think even though she sacrificed her permanent spot in the mainstream, Normani is kind of brave for putting out a body of work in the direction she wanted, rather than what the label wanted, even if it came out to be a little underwhelming.
Normani can still pop up for performances or give us visualizers.
Her career is being sabotaged by the label. We have seen this happen with many artists before.
She should’ve included “Waves” feat 6LACK, Love Lies With Khalid, and Motivation on the track list to boost sales. I understand she didn’t really have as strong of a connection to these records as her newer material, but it still would’ve helped.
@@ElijahA. Waves, Motivation and Love Lies are too old to add to her album. You can’t add 6+ year old song to your album .

@@Hunkzilla exactly and Normani didn’t even like majority of the songs on her own album LMAOOOO and her fans are wondering why the general public didn’t care .
you can if you want too
Honestly after 3 years waiting for Normani’s album I became so over it I didn’t care if it came anymore. Idk but I still hope for the best for her and hope she reaches her true big potential but if it doesn’t happen then oh well
That's cause RCA only gives a damn about investing into Doja Cat & Chris Brown🙄🙄
They mishandled both Tem's & Bryson Tiller's albums.
It's way too many super stars on their roster, but Doja & Chris are the only ones consistently being pushed
I even hated the way they handled Sza's SOS rollout, and she was literally outcharting Taylor Swift like come tf on
I thought SZA's label was TDE?
@@MannysMillennialMouth that’s not true , Tems album performed well internationally. & RCA gave plenty of promo to Tems (MV, Visualizers, etc ) , even Bryson gets support he’s on his 4th album with them .
@@JoyEmpress yes , TDE is a sub label of RCA .
I also think Tinashe but I could be wrong
Have you listened to Chloe's new album?
Wasn't she just shooting a music video for Candy Paint? It's safe to say everyone has moved on, and the sad part is she would've been a successful pop star like Janet & Ciara
the MV for candy paint is long finished, she has it on her phone and showed it to terrly when she did her interview there

@thepopculturefairy oh I just wanted to say something regarding normanis injury, it seems to have healed since she doesn't seem to have her bandage anymore or any help (I forgot what the things are called to help her walk). So she should be fully healed/capable of walking fully now.
@@marichatsubs3110 I think those things are canes or crutch idk
She needs to quit her music label and sue them. I don’t believe the music put out is the music she wanted to put out.

Girl you're giving ME ideas for promoting my music😭😭😭shii if she won't do it, I will !!!
I actually throughly enjoyed this video. Your roll out ideas were 🔥🔥
No shade but receive her flowers for what exactly (solo career)?
As a Tinashe stan, we understand how frustrating RCA can be
Yes but timashe had music videos and would promote it on her own in her own way she was hustling and even leaking her own music
I honestly did not care anymore by the time it release and I still don't care.

The people have moved on. She should just be a model or influencer at this point.
No promo or her interacting with fans like most artist do
Dopamine is a beautiful album that's going to age really well. I hope she's proud of it.
Great video, i love Normani and was hoping for her to breakthrough with this album but i have to kind of agree with some of the other comments, im starting to get the impression she doesn’t want this as much as the fans want it for her - either that or she’s had some really bad luck/things working against her

@@TheUrbanGentAOB or we can redefine what a pop star means and not put every Black girl in the R&B category.
Thanks to Satanic people in Hollywood
Has nothing to do with her skin color,,,,Grace Jones for example, walks in the room and everything stops, she can’t sing or dance but she has that thing… there is nothing about Normani that makes you stop and pay attention…Beautiful girl, very sexy and she can dance, but something about her makes you not stay engaged
@@banterj I disagree about Normani not having that thing but even so how many mediocre and manufactured white popstars do we have in the industry??? I honestly don’t think it’s too late for her to promote this album. She just needs to go back to the drawing board and come up with concepts that will pull the GPS attention again. In the 2000s artist would’ve perform the same song over and over again until it reached top 10!
That’s true, she can still give performances
Lights on IS #1…. The only song I fuck with !!! I gotta sit with the album one more time
I am a Normani fan, and I believe she and her team should’ve taken more time to re-introduce listeners to who she was.
I wholeheartedly think her parents being sick def played a factor so she just dropped it for the fans and prolly just wants to focus on her parents
Her parents are both in remission they have been since last year
My main frustration is with her label and her history with social media holding her back.
She can be a slow burn 🔥. Thank you so much for watching ( ^ω^ )🧚🏾♀️✨️🪷.

Girl I’ve been waiting for this album since HS… honestly I’ve given up on her
I want to buy the Normani's album. On CD! It's hard to get it . We, as Normani's fans have waited this long for it. It's alright debut
THANK YOU!! 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
and her fans swear it’s some major conspiracy to hold her back as if she has the talent of micheal jackson!!!
“normani is being held back by rca because she’s darkskin”
“rca has normani tied in their basement & she can’t move or post on her own social media”
“the world doesn’t want normani to succeed because shes black”
meanwhile we have SZA COCO JONES SUMMER WALKER JANELLE MONAE VICTORIA MONET CHLOE H.E.R. all doing well!!
the album is here but no promotion, no tv performances and music videos??? wtf. i love you normani, but i don't know.
why don’t she just model and dance? i think that would be better for her
Will you be reviewing Chlöe's new EP? I just saw it the other day, and I was so surprised. No promotion at all
And it sucked. Can you believe it
@@belladonna5904 Disagree. Way better than the first album.
5:14 we know what we should do but we’re not doing it THAT PART
Not even a lyric video or a visualizer 🧚🏾♀️✨️.
She has the talent to do so much better.
exactly
This! This album shows me she has no emotionally depth, I’m only a fan of artist who’s music makes me feel things. All the songs are generic “I’m a baddie” and sex songs. For a woman who claims to have gone through so much regarding bullying, racism and sick parents you’d expect some sad personal songs.
