Another great recipe. Trini food is the best. I am also a Trini.
I was wondering what to make for lunch and your video hit the spot
Yummm...Thanks Chris! Reminds me of my granny's kitchen... winters in her kitchen was full of tasty & comfort...
+ChaeWhat yea, the only way to survive the winter is good, comforting food!
Looks delicious! I'm going to try it with smoked turkey.
I just love your show/videos. Good stuff.
YYYUUMMMMYYY and the Spinners got to have it cause it's snowing here in North Carolina Thanks for sharing
Fantastic recipe Chris. I made this for dinner today. However, 2 things i did differently: 1 - i popped the pigtail in the pressure cooker for 15 minutes, 2 - i boiled the black eye peas for 1/2 hour or so... it did cut down on the actual cooking time of the soup...
that was mouth watering soup love black eye peas.
Looks so good. Salted pigtails in the freezer! Gotta try this.
Chris I was looking for smoked turkey legs couldn't find any so I used smoked turkey sausage! Came out great!
hey Chris, thanks again. on a day like today in NYC (blizzard conditions) this is what's on my stovetop right now. but no piggy & i added provisions andtrust me they were expensive 😱😱.
I almost passed out when I saw Chris mixing the flour with a fork, but then he said he was going in with his hands lol. Good things all the time man. Keep it up @caribbeanpot

Thank You For the wonderful dishes can you use Turkey?
Chris, I love the new ideas I get from your meals and sauces. Keep it up. I don't think I've ever seen pig tail for sale here in Michigan. But it's intriguing.
Hi Chris, love your videos. You have a video of black eye peas but you can hardly hear the video. Could you please make another video. Thanking you in advance for the great job that you do.
That looks terrible to me but I trust your cooking so I will try lol. You haven't steered me wrong yet. Terrible is a strong word so I will calm it down a little. The pumpkin and okra lost me but I will try it as is and adjust later if I don't want certain things in it.
Lol i wanted to say the same thing ,but u said it for me ...
Pumpkin and okra are 2 quintessential Caribbean ingredients... definitely try it, just like chris, I guarantee you will enjoy this soup
hey Chris love the soup man...have u ever done oil down...would love to see a recipe for it
😋😋😋😋😋
AMAZING😍😍😍
I have to make this with smoked turkey since i don't eat Pork.
Where I live they do not have salted pig tails. Can you make a video on how to salt your own pig tails please.
Looks fab! What meat can be substituted for the salted tail? Not readily available here. Would extra or a particular seasoning be needed if so? Many thanks.
+91cinnie smoked turkey, ham hock etc will work well.
+caribbeanpot Many thanks for your reply. All the best to you.
My worry is the slime from the okra. I love the taste but don't eat okra much because I hate the slime! Any tips for us on how to reduce that either before or during the cooking process?
Can you post a vegan version of this soup? Thanks
What would you substitute for the pig tails to make this vegetarian without losing the flavor?
Looks yummy. Fellow WI here. Question for you. My pops would always skim the foam off the top. What is the purpose of this?
Lila W i think it is excess fat from the pig tail or coconut milk that floats to the top
Oh I see. Thanks
Looks good man! I would like to see you taste your recipes though, then I could get really hungry. lol
good morning you are good

Please post some Ital versions, I'm not vegetarian, rasta, nor muslim but I did like Letsgetinfo and it worked fine.
Thanks!
Also, aren't those "allspice berries" also known as Pimento?
stew peas with pig tail video coming from home of flying fish.
Wouldnt casava break down to mush boiling it for that length of time?
Chris I don't eat pork, but my brother you did put a hurting on it. my parents will kill this soup with the pig tails. lmaooo.
+Camille Noel try it with smoked turkey.. it will be delightful
Use 2 packets of JAMON by GOYA. Gives that pork flavor without the Pork.

Black eyed peas cook so fast I don't bother with soaking them, other than that you make it pretty much like I make it!
