Redbox Batman: ''Hey man, you don't need avenged do you? No? Okay. Well...I also paint houses.
Thanks, that made me laugh hard.
🤣🤣🤣
This costume design is actually somewhat prescient; it's similar to something Frank Miller did in his classic BATMAN: Year One series. A street level first draft.
Redbox Batman definitely looks like he could find a place in a Tarantino film ; ) . Fantastic vid!
Ha! Gimp man!
My rule of thumb; If you can strip it down to its underwear, or non-anatomical core, it's a DOLL. Original G.I. Joe, doll. Johnny West, action figure. Not all Megos are dolls, I consider masked characters to be action figures since that can't be stripped down beyond their character. You can dress up Spiderman in the Joker's suit, but he's still Spiderman, while Superman can be anybody depending on how you dress him. In the end, it doesn't matter what you call them. They are all fun.
Exactly, it's just a word.
OMG -- thank you! At the bottom right corner of the ad at 3:34 there's a description of a toy I had when I was a kid that I've always dreamed about re-finding, but I never knew the name or even how to search for it; and now I know. Thank you, sir. Oh, also -- good video :)
That's what it's all about. Cheers!
This just might be my favorite Batman now. And I'd like to think that somewhere in the Multiverse Broadway Musical Superman v Red Box Batman was a thing.
I imagine this Batman starred in a Turkish movie.
So THAT'S who The Unknown Comic went as for Halloween? Glad you sorted that, Brian.
Why didn't I make that connection?
@@BrickMantooth The more worrisome question is: Why did I? 😂
Another few finds like this and you might have to do a Volume 2 to your awesome Knock Offs book!
Good Job! Great video! Fantastic find! CONGRATS!
Amazing . Love this knockoff
When I was a kid i never played 'army' i was an army builder. Bolstering fortification, enemy subterfuge, ammo storage units, cavalry, airborne, marines, underwater ballistics, detonation experts, cryptics, diagnostics 😀💋😛
OMG there is something in that mask that makes me see this figure scariest and more creepy than Leatherface, no jokes.
I feel ya.
It makes me say what!!?😅 Love it!!
Looks like it could be an action figure for the 40's Batman serial.
Yeah, the Lewis Coats outfit, I get that.
@@BrickMantooth so many of the serial heroes had those chunky masks.
I have the oddest feeling that’s meant to represent that ‘60s Batman Helmet produced by Ideal. The shape and position of the ears and the way the lower face cutout… I dunno. Could be I’m just seeing ‘pattern’ when it’s just material/scale limitations.
But look that beast of a helmet up and tell me if I’m off-base here, ok?
I had one of those stupid helmets back then and it was a real brain boiler! Plus the hard vinyl wasn’t smoothed very well at the neck ring and it cut into you. And yet I kinda wish i had managed to keep it. I have no memory of why or how it went away.
I really love the history lessons that come with the toy collecting. I suppose that has always been one of the lures of "antiquing" though its hard to think of these cheap plastic figures as antiques that our parents or grandparents might have sought (depression glass and fine china etc). I also loved your reference to Tim Burton after you showed us the figure, wondering idly if he might have had this figure with combat boots. I know it is not a new idea in general but I read someone's comment on youtube the other day describing the era of Batman since Tim Burton as "Combat Boot Batman" in contrast to the 50 years prior. Look forward to more episodes!
the mask looks like some one took a smiley face shaped hole puncher and said "f**k it close enough"
I big fan of Batman i would say he is one of my favorite of all heroes great figure love all Mego stile figures
G.I. Joe - G.I. Joe Fighting Man From Head To Toe! 😉
From head to thumb!
This is Bruce without the money. Poor guy had to make his mask out of a KFC bucket and Quaker Oats tube.
Ha!
And lots of pretty red lipstick 💄 lol
@@Merylstreep1949 gotta remain kissable
😂😂😂
Congratulations! I was soooooo tempted to pull the trigger but money man. It all comes down to the 🤑 I’m happy it ended up in your collection, Brian. Cheers!
I kind of gasped when I saw it.
That batman look like he is feeling a little down.😂
His theme is tuba music.
@@BrickMantooth 🤣
Killer video Brian! I wish I could have made it to mego meet this year! Maybe next year!
Here's hoping!
i expected to here "Combat Carl" in the list lol
I am sure it exists! Seriously, this list is ENDLESSSSSS!
Great information 👍
Glad it was helpful!
Informative, interesting. Always like action figure history.
Glad you enjoyed it
It's a cybermen helmet mix with a batman captian action mask pieces?
Fun thx
Thank you.
Army boots? Check. Ill-fitting, cheap costume? Check. Clean cut hair cut? Check. Dead, expressionless eyes? Check. He looks like an artist's rendition of a 1960s-70s serial killer. Like Zodiac's nair-do-well brother. He's sort of creepy looking.
You are not wrong.
Good video but just a correction. Hasbro released the original G. I. Joe in 1964, not 1963. Everything else was spot on.
What are you?! I'm ...not legally allowed to say.. wink wink.
Batman looks super fancy with his red 💋 lips 💋
Did ersatz Batman’s mom crochet his outfit?
No. I don’t think so. She’s DEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAADDDDDDDDDD!
Lol it's cool in the worst best way
An horribly cool figure!😅
