Water from boiled guava leaves is a good antiseptic for wounds.

Here in the Philippines, we have a term called in the motorcycle rides. It called KAMOTE RIDERS, (sweet potato riders) getting their drivers license without knowing traffic rules and regulations. Next time be careful, always assume their is kamote riders in yhe road😂

There are many shitty motorcycle drivers here in the Philippines. Even us locals hate those shitty drivers like them to hell. I think it is no longer safe here for you. Last week, your friend, Barbie from Siargao just got mugged of her mobile phone. What a shame. Consider my advise and suggestion here. You will no longer be ok here. Some people are very reckless when it comes to driving vehicles and you can't please them.. it's good to know that you are now ok and safe despite of what happened to you but, i advise you to go & look for a clinic or hospital near where you are staying so that they can treat you properly & clean your wounds.. They know better.. The scar in your arm & leg is a long one.. It needed bandage to cover it from dust and lessen the pain as well.. Jellena, you should have made a complain to the Police or Baranggay ? because that driver commited a violation and accident to you.. always be full alert when parking or getting off the parking, Because Police will investigate if that Man intentionally did it or an accident. some drivers there are not really a trained or professional drivers. Motorbike is a high risk because your body is exposed even you have helmet. Take extra Care, stay on the safety side while in the hi-way.

First, thank God you're not seriously hurt, Jelena. Better drive a car or use public transportion. But if you must ride a motorbike for the unique freedom, go for a lesson on safe and defensive driving.
Get to a clinic for proper treatment. You don't want infections. Don't swim in dirty, questionable water like a river or ponds where contamination might be present. Properly clorinated pools can help with wounds. Keep these in mind:
1. Proper working bike - brakes, tires, lights all working and matched for road (rough roads, steep roads, slippery roads)
2. Personal protection - proper rated helmet, goggles, jacket, pants, shoes, pads
3. Fixed mounted cameras not hand-held while driving. Do not film while in busy areas since your mind is divided.
4. Have an emergency kit of medicines, disinfectant, etc. with you on your travel.
5. Defensive driving - safe distance about 4 seconds behind or 3 -4 car distance in city streets, anticipate the unexpected always reading dangers - pedestrians, bikers, cars, trucks, blind spots, debris, etc
6. If visibility is poor like dusk, night, or raining, consider resting until safer conditions are present.
Get travel health insurance.

You are correct in being angry. I would be angry too. Thank God your injuries are relatively minor. It could have been worst. I have seen a number of crazy/distracted drivers in my time in Los Angeles, CA. When I am driving I always lookout for them. There is no cure for stupidity...unfortunately. Jelena, always be very careful when using and riding a two wheeled motor vehicle. Because there are kamote drivers out there, be a defensive driver and protect yourself always!!!

My grandma used to apply aloe vera juice that she squeezed from a leaf whenever I had falls as a kid. It helped relieve the pain and helped heal the wound.

I just lost a friend last week from a motorcycle accident there in the Philippines so be very careful whenever you are on your motorcycle. Most of these people especially in the province area does not have a valid driver license. You should have gotten the license plate and report it to the barangay. Jelena you roll the malunggay in your hands ( or palm together ) until the juice comes out and you squeeze the juice into your wound. it is very rich in vit c, iron and antibacterial, very good with the wound/abrasion..

I bet the other fellow does NOT have a LICENSE to drive a Motorcycle. This is a common problem in the PROVINCES -- too many unlicensed motorcycle riders -- who DON'T KNOW how to handle a motorcycle properly. And are ignorant about TRAFFIC RULES.

So sorry to hear about the accident. Be careful always especially in driving motorcycle. Report also the incident /accident to the police. For me if I have wounds or scratches I just put PETROLEUM JELLY. it will dry up in 2 days and u can't see the scar. In case u feel pain just take Paracetamol 500 mg every 8 hrs or just needed if there's pain. It can be used also for fever. May God protect you in everything that you do. 🙏🙏🙏

This is what scares me about the roads there in the Philippines. People randomly crossing and there’s no order. I was used to it growing up, but when I came back to visit from the U.S., it scared me LOL. They need to expand the roads and the government should heighten the driver’s license requirements. How many more people need to be injured (or lose their lives) before road safety is improved? I’m glad you’re okay, but the shock, stress and anxiety could have been avoided by making safe choices. Motorcycle riders in the Philippines are undisciplined and careless. It is all over the country, especially in Metro Manila. The govt cannot do anything about it. The problem with LTO/LTFRB, they are registering motorbikes left and right, without psycho prescreening of the owners and insufficianf tpl insurance overage for accidents. Be careful.

Many Filipinos swear by the healing properties of malungay. Common to see poor driving practices by motorcyclists In Ph, Thailand and Viet Nam. eg driving wrong way on a one way street, no indication of turning, disobeying traffic lights. Have to expect traffic coming from anywhere.

Be very careful when driving motorcycle, Jelena. The cement roads are more dangerous when wet or hot season. Motorcycles slides very fast when running more than speed limit. Since I was young, I saw a lot of motorcycle accidents! So, be vigilant and drive safely next time!🇵🇭🇺🇸Also, there are drivers there that they just learn to drive personally without knowing the rules and laws of the road when driving any types of vehicles!!
I am very much ashamed to know the accident. I suggest, you get protective gears aside from regular helmet. Kulas "BecomingFilipino" had his motorcycle accident too. With his perseverance, now he is legally naturalized Filipino Citizen. Hoping someday you can buy your own car and tour around the country.

I'm sorry this happened to you. Unfortunately people who shouldn't drive (unskilled and no regard for safety) do drive in Ph. Accidents involving motocycles and motorbikes are very common. My brother was driving their van type vehicle last month with his family including kids as passenger. Suddenly,a guy driving a motorcycle cut into their lane,. The distance was so close, my brother couldn't avoid hitting the guy. Investigation found out, the motorcycle driver didn't have license to drive, no insurance, and the motorcycle is not registered. I'm glad you're okay and do not have serious injuries.
