    Sitting here watching this laughing to myself because about everything you did to this, I did to my 93 250 boss4x4😆. I'm like yup.. yup.. yes. Currently started arching spark down right side while on it looking down under right side area of the gas tank, probably a bad ground I'm hoping. Otherwise one more thing has me frustrated is periodically/randomly sometimes it requires holding the override button in reverse to not shut off, other times not.. Oh and the red handlebar on off switch doesn't work so either related or someone unhooked something at some point. Anyway any tips or advice appreciated? Thanks for sharing!

      basically replace all electrics, coil, cdi, stator, spark plug wire, etc etc etc. all of it.

      We notice with all kinds of these vehicles - once they pass 12 years old, all of the electrics should be replaced sooner or later. So might as well do it all....

      @@HorsepowerHouse I just dug into her today, turned out it was just a dirty spark plug, however I already had ordered and in storage all new cdi, voltage regulator, coil + plug etc.
      Went ahead and replaced the cdi, voltage reg and plug, she's top notch once again. I'd just never seen a fowled plug cause arching spark from the plug to the frame because of it 😆. Anyway while I was in there I noticed the red handlebar kill switch was unplugged by previous owners I reconnected it, works fine and can't help but wonder if that was someone's attempt at disabling... Something...
      Thanks so much for the reply and I appreciate it, great channel I just subscribed. I'll probably rebuild the carb in the spring and will check out your video for reference on that project, really wish I had done the stator while I was right there doing the Crank seals last fall, but otherwise she's not much to worry about, been freshened up suspension and many little things makes it a awesome reliable quad.
      People these days are so spoiled by displacement they wouldn't realize, for a 250 these old bosses have power on tap! 🇺🇸 Happy riding!

      We have seen more than a few with the crazy arcing problem from the spark plug wire to the frame. I had an older Harley Davidson do it too! Pretty ridiculous. Check out our other videos. All kinds of stuff you will like. 🛡🛠

      For sure, these bikes can haul azz. Not the most high-performance engine technology in the world. But will still run like a scalded opossum up a tree!

    I have a 1996 Polaris 250 2 stroke. I bought it for 1k without full knowledge of the issues it has such as a gas leak and no headlight. Currently it won’t start anymore and if I can get it started I can’t keep it running long enough to put it in gear before it dies so I have to start it in gear to keep it from dying and when I do that it acts like it’s struggling and won’t go over like 5 mph.. what should I do

      You are looking at a very long project. VERY. I wouldn't have bought it to begin with.

      @@HorsepowerHouse I figured it would come to that.

      @@WolfGaming323 but you need to check for compression PSI in the cylinder. That's the quickest thing you can do just to see if the cylinder has any life in it. Needs to be around 160 PSI to be healthy. If it is much less than that like 100 PSI, sure you can just replace the cylinder with a Chinese used one or new one. But you're still talking about quite a project overall, because I can about guarantee you it will have other issues as well.

      @@HorsepowerHouse I’m thinking about taking to a trusted mechanic or to a atv dealership to see if they can just fix up any issues they find overall because nobody would buy it in the condition it’s in and the same thing for a trade and I can’t find a dealership that would trade

      @WolfGaming323 you might want to take it to a professional just to have it diagnosed, and go from there. You might get lucky. Depending on where you live, there are many Mobile Mechanics who will come to you as well. You can find them on Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

      It is an air cooled engine though. It needs airflow to stay cool. And if the weather temp is hot these will get hot.

    • @HorsepowerHouse
      @HorsepowerHouse  3 года назад

      And if your carburetor jetting is too lean, the motor will run hot as well.
