Is that the Ayr line by any chance? Stranraer to Glasgow Central and I think south of Ayr which isn't electrified.

The only guess I can think of right now is the west highland line due to there being no overhead electrification lines visible

Or the mew route from Edinburgh. However did you notice the train was on the opposite track from normal?
