This channel is a pleasant surprise. Nicely edited, getting the point across and your recording performance is clear and easy to follow. Alot of RUclips-essayists (Even those with millions of subscribers) often miss the last part in how their vocal performance can feel a bit too much of a monotone reading of their scripts, something I feel like you mange to avoid it while at the same time making it very clear and concise. I listened to your first video (The Bioshock 2 Syndrome), and I can already tell you have improved your vocal performance since then in this video. Keep up the good work!
I really appreciate the kind words! One of the most difficult things about making these videos is writing and recording the script. Thankfully i’ve gotten WAY better at mixing the audio so it sounds good on all devices and I try SUPER hard to make sure the vocals are interesting (A lot of what you hear in these videos are actually me reading each individual sentence and splicing them all together. I usually slip up on longer paragraphs, so it sounds much more clean!) Anyhow, I really appreciate the support and am glad you recognized how much my videos have improved! Now it’s just time to figure out how to gain some traction!!
Yep, you definitely deserve much more recognition for your work. I found your content through SOMA related vids a couple days back, And I’ve been watching since! Keep up the Great work my dude.
Thank you so much! That SOMA video was the second one I had ever made for the channel and it’s been a blast so far. I’m hoping that people will eventually share my content on websites like reddit if I keep on making it, but until then, I’m cool with just a handful of people watching. I appreciate the support!
I absolutely love your videos on game soundtracks. I’m a music lover myself and really like your perspective on these songs! You have good things going on this small channel and I hope you get more recognition!
Amazing work as always, man. Keep this up! I came for the LISA video you did, but, I actually did interest myself in SOMA-related videos before, so it's quite a coincidence you posted something related to that. Wonderful vid!
Thank you, I’m glad that you liked it! I’m planning on doing some longer-form videos on some cult-classic game osts in the future, so keep an eye out!!
I agree with everything you said! the Fear system is incredibly done, and the weird wet-cockroachy sound that plays when Tasi is getting scared is so gross... I also loved how much she commented on what's happening around her and I don't understand how people can dislike it!
I could kind of understand why some people wouldn't like it, it does get a little redundant towards the end of the game (especially if you got stuck on a puzzle), but I really think it adds to the atmosphere!
Something else I really loved about SOMA was that when you bumped into objects, it wasn't the same generic thump sfx you hear a lot, I feel like in the first half of that game I scared myself more than any of the monsters ever could.
They suggested wearing headphones in Amnesia only because the game has stereo 2.0 sound, so a surround sound system wouldn't be utilized and most of the time headphones are still a better choice than 2.0 speakers. Later in SOMA and Rebirth they went full 7.1 and it infinitely sounds better in real 7.1 than just headphones.
cool you look very passionate, i like that. damm omori made me find a lot of cool little youtuber. ps: i'm no specialist on sound design but i feel like a game i recently played called darkwoods may be interesting for you, it's a horror game without jumpscare made by some polishs devs
5:31 I feel like Tassi commenting really ruins the atmosphere of the game. I love it when the game doesn't make the character say something about events because it leaves you, the player, to think about it instead of some voice actor putting words in your mouth. I definitely prefer the silence of the other Amnesia (and penumbra) games, because it adds so much more to the experience. And by adding voice lines for every damn thing you pick up, you take away from the whole 'what the hell is going on here' vibe, because the game just tells you straight up instead of letting you think for yourself. I actually found myself cringing when she would start talking, not that she did a bad job, it's just that it felt out of place, like, "I'm trying to explore here, could you shut up for like 5 minutes?!" kind of out of place... Other than that, I absolutely ADORE frictional's sound design and their soundtracks. Great video btw!
I think amnesia should go back a bit to their more gamified amnesia game, I get that penumbra was a bit too scary and a bit too gamified, but Im not sire it was good to catwr to scared people like me 😂😅 I did love the game though.

The monster design isn't as interesting, and the flashbacks/voiceovers happen way too often

The Little Nightmares Games also have unique Sounds for every Objekt.
Not as intense as soma(i think) but still rly cool!
Mikko Tarmia is a genuis!
I was kinda hoping we'd actually hear the sounds and atmosphere
For a video about sound effects I was really hoping to hear more sound effects. Still a good video tho
