It makes sense from the perspective of wanting to enforce order, because panopticons are specifically for monitoring prisoners so that they don’t get up to trouble-presumably at some point the devs took the “prison” part literally and made the Memverse inescapable
im not sure if it was the devs that misinterpreted it?? we know it was probably smollusk as his notes on agent 4 concluded that parallel canon was based off agent 4; he did the same kind of thing with asyncrondo if i had to guess; probably manipulating some sort of security or monitoring system. this would also explain why it has a spotlight despite that completely being counterintuitive of a panopticon prisons main concept - yeah, hes smart, but hes still a young kid, who's probably very likely to do silly things like this like forgetting certain details, making little mistakes, etc
I've heard it's meant to represent a panopticon, but Marina notes that the bright lights and such remind her of one of her concerts with Pearl...maybe it's meant to be a combination of Marina's happy memories and Smollusk's plans for complete and total order?

there was NO reason for them to make this boss so god damn scary. this was the first boss i went up against and i think i ended up dying to something stupid because the boss was so nerve wracking 😭😭😭

interesting fact: at some moments, we can hear some tiny regonizable fragments of the melodies of "Ebb & Flow"!
asynchronous rondo's voice clips put together make the full song! there's a couple videos of people stitching the clips together and it sounds crazy
