TVD is one of the best shows and has one of the biggest fan bases even still. You should check it out. I’ve watched the whole thing a bunch of times 😭😂
Really looking forward to seeing him play Kirk more. I thought he was even better from his first to second episode. But the fact he knows the character, has an appreciation of the show and it’s history, and genuinely seemed to regard it as a dream role matters and will make his performance so much better.
I just watched “Strange New Worlds” episode 6 “Lost in Translation” and I was able to see Kirk in him. He was arrogant but humane, funny but serious and he uses his body a lot like Shatner did leaning on a wall or laying on the floor after getting punched. There were times I imagined Shatner’s face was on Paul Wesley’s body and it clicked……..there was just a certain “essence” about the character that said, “Kirk”. I thought at first Paul Wesley was going to be a disaster but I think it’s going to be alright…different, but ok. The caliber of actors this show has cast is over the top and I haven’t felt this way about “Star Trek” since the Fall of 1966.
This guy is something else. So funny & relatable. Love that he doesn't know any of the Chrises. Chris Evans, Woods (Kai Parker in TVD), Hemsworth, Pine, Pratt 🤣
He’s really growing on me as Kirk… I see more and more kirkness now

I really like Paul Wesley's presentation as a person and especially that he is so in love with his doggo which says a lot about his soul. I am, however, struggling to find Kirk in him. He seems alternately adolescent and establishment driven. I thought Chris Pine perfectly matched the character both in appearance and character...handsome, intelligent, arrogant, a born womanizer, gutsy, tough and rebellious. What I see on SNW is a kind of shadow of the original and Chris Pine's iteration without the development of a creative, concrete persona. I hold the showrunners responsible for that.

My favorite episode of the Original Series is "The Doomsday Machine". I still think they could of found a better actor to play Kirk. Paul Wesley may be a good actor. But not good at being a Kirk. And I will never see him as such.
I think he's a good actor in general, but a bad Kirk. He just doesn't pull it off. Chris Pine had the mannerisms, the vocal inflections, the works. I've been watching ST for 40+ years and he's just not a good Kirk.
