I was traveling back from a journey in a train, when i had certain thought i want to share with you. I always had an inner pressure that my current salary of 1000 euro per month is not enough that i should be able to provide for a family if i ever want to get married and not be single anymore, be successfull etc. Yesterday when i was in the train, i realized the 1000 euro job gives me enough time for prayer and church. THAT is the fullfilment that i was seeking all my life. Jesus is my wealth, Jesus is my money, Jesus is my Salary, Jesus is my relationship. The way of living from a low salary job has a certain beauty to it. Like one of the evangelical counsels is actually poverty. I don´t need to rely on money. I need to rely on Jesus.

Struggling with the same money pressure God let me realize that if I had a family or not, children a house etc... could be good but is not what matters. What matters is God to have children that we all may become His children. God having a family is the most important. God has adopted us His Children! This world will pass, all that we work for here on Earth is good but may be gone in a moment. The house Christ has gone to prepare for us is our real home and will last forever.
      Let' get rid off that money pressure. Lord, you alone are my portion and my cup;
      you make my lot secure.
      6 The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places;
surely I have a delightful inheritance.
      7 I will praise the Lord, who counsels me;
even at night my heart instructs me.
8 I keep my eyes always on the Lord.
With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Psalms 16:5-8

The hospital has become like a second home to me and I am tired and worn out from the battle. Thanks to your online Mass, Father Mike, I am able to receive spiritual blessings. I know I am in my own "middle " of the desert. But your words gave me hope. I started thinking of my children and their "middle" of the desert and my pain became less. I ask for Prayers. "Never quit in the middle (of hardships or your life)" ... The only way through the desert and hardship is through it (by continuing our journey while trusting in God to support our efforts). Great analogy of vision, lasik eye surgery. Also about visions- shortsightedness - seeing only current troubles. We need to pray for a foresight so we trust God and know that everything will be fine eventually. The same with the marathon analogy- hardships are temporary, but rewards are permanent. Shortsight is when we don't see the big picture and big plan God has for us. Insight is continuing to trust on God despite trouble and hardships. A great example of Moses and the people lost in the desert. Thank you, Fr. Mike, the Pew Crew, Team Ascension and fellow attendees. God bless you all

Being lead into difficult moments of life is training and trust in God.
The key to happiness is to trust God's will in all the seasons of our life.
In difficult moments, we must fix our gaze upon the silent heart of Jesus, stretched upon the cross ✝️, and from his merciful heart, will flow upon us power and strength to go through life.
    ~ St Maria Faustina
What really matters in life is that we are loved by Christ and that we love him in return.
    ~ St John Paul ||
We should consider the moments spent before the Blessed Sacrament as the happiest moment of our life 🌻

Powerful homily, Fr. Mike. I needed to hear this today. I'm always telling people to trust in Jesus but I don't always follow my own advice; I'm a hypocrite. May the Lord forgive me for my lack of trust as I'm in the middle of a difficult time. He will never forsake or abandon us. I pray for all my brothers and sisters who are suffering right now, whether it's personal illness or grief. Give them the strength and courage, Jesus, to trust you will never abandon them. In Jesus' name we pray, amen! Alleluia!

I've been going through a personal desert myself. It's been an incredible two months and I can say that while at times it seems like there's no sustenance, no support, someone or something happens. I've been dealing with abandonment and codependency from my childhood. It's been real tough. But with the help of God, and others who God sent to me, I've been able to walk in the valley of tears so that I can come to a blessed place.
Ultimately I can reclaim my power to be happy, without preconditions or validation or approval from others. It's up to me to depend on others, in the princes of this world so to speak (be they parents, coworkers, bosses, even my wife or son), or in God and myself while being true to my soul and the trust that I place in God's method for me.
Please, brothers and sisters, pray for me. I appreciate it!

Fr. Mike, I feel like you wrote your homily just for me. I am a 68 year old woman who recently retired. Planning and looking forward to traveling and all sorts of activities I was, in this past year, diagnosed with an autoimmune disease that makes it difficult to do much more than putter around my home. I have been doing my best to be confident in God's presence through this time but I hover mostly between the hindsight, foresight and definitely shortsightedness. Through your homily the Holy Spirit reminded me that even if I must live in this desert for the remainder of my days God will be with me always. God and a plan and a purpose for this time of my life and who knows there may be a day I get to the other side and live some of my dreams. In the meantime I need to get to Mass as often as I can so that I can be fed by the manna from heaven, the Eucharist. Thank you.

I am very guilty of short sidedness I have been battling the aftermath of cancer for years and I tend to only see what I’ve lost or the pain I’m in or what trial I’m going through when I should be trying to see the big picture to say God has me he has a plan for me and he’s not done with me yet, That God knows the outcome, u should be thanking him for all I do have, the days I’m not suffering.
Thank you for always explaining things in a way for me and others to understand I pray you are able to continue Gods work
    God bless you

    Heavenly Father,
We honor and praise your holy name and thank you for your grace and mercy. We commit ourselves to your will and your ways and to the wonderful plans and purposes that you have for our lives. We also ask you to bless and sustain the life and ministry of our local church. We ask you to prosper the work of the church and to unite our membership to do great things for your glory and honor. Help us, O Lord, to meet the financial obligations of the church, to fulfill the awesome vision that you have given to our leader(s), and to be a force for positive change in the world. We also ask that you continue to pour out your grace, wisdom and blessing upon your people. In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

Thought would share a poem from a mother's perspective
    Life
A woman for a man is a vessel
    A kind of empty ship
To fill with a seed he'd like to plant
To bare his offspring above her hips
Then healthy eating with very little alcohol or none
And trying to give up smokes
With morning sickness early on or all through pregnancy
With most smells or odors or some foods cause her to boke
Then 8 or 9 months down the line
    Contractions indicate her labour
The work that she must perservere to complete in
Excruciating pain until the baby is delivered
Then after the baby has been born
She's left with a damaged body
    With trouble holding urine in
Or a bad back or cuts and tears
While the man gets no punishment for being naughty
Then nighttime feeds for a good few months
Sometimes working with a really unsettled baby
She starts losing her will to be beautiful day to day
Because a mother is a lady
The same can be told for those in religious life
When they suffer each through spiritual trials
And try to guide in a motherly way
Sending good thoughts to others suffering, even trying to keep happy smiles
Life is different for each soul
But sorrow and being hurt inside are a part of life
Joy and and gladness too are gifts from the pure spirit
And memories stored, retrieved for sanity in a Life time full of strife
So remember man what a mother goes through
When bringing up the fruit of your loins
And try to make her life worthwhile
Joyous time spent using no coins
And as for the children, they don't understand
Until they go through the same
Or when their wife has to birth their child
    And witnesses tremendous pain
It's then that the child will realise
Just what his mother went through
And understanding will greatly come to him
And the love he'll have for his mother and wife shall be true.
    Remember man and remember children
    WE only have one mother
But in the Catholic Church through life
    We look after each other
So when our birth mother goes to sleep
    We never are alone
For other neighbours, friends and family too
Look after each other, where er our home.

What if I want more than just getting through ? I have been chronically ill since birth. I have lost so much to these illnesses, my career, my home, even both of my hands to infection. God has always been there and gotten me through all of it. But in my heart I want more than just getting through. I want more purpose than suffering. Is this selfish? Like the Israelites I find myself grumbling against the Lord. I wish God would take away my desires for things like companionship. All of the “normal “ experiences of life. Please 🙏🏼 for me that I can accept my life.

I always have a logistics brain running. Back of the hand math on the human needs per day:
    ~1lb of food minimum
1 gallon or 8lbs of water
Each value is variable on the conditions of the day, labor that needs to be performed, etc.
Let's assume there are 100,000 Israelis in the desert. For each day you will need:
    100,000 lbs of rations
    800,000 lbs of water
    For one week?
    700,000# rations
    5,600,000# water
And keep in mind these are just minimums. It doesn't factor for everything else people forced to the nomad's life would need day to day.
For the mortal men in that situation, worrying about where you will secure food and water--not just for today, but for tomorrow--when you have no idea how far you need to go, is good cause for consternation. Despite the miracles, despite the care taken so far... at some point, the miracles will cease, and the Israeli nation will need to establish and provide and concern itself with where it will secure bread and water, fuel and metal. Not knowing when the trial will end, is a legitimate concern.
And I believe it's worth keeping in mind, every other gentile in the world, from the Celts to the far west to the Chinese at the far east--they had to worry as a matter of course about where they would get their bread, secure water, the necessary means to purify and cook and heat, to survive through the winters, and prepare whatever else they had time and energy and will to address. Failure to prepare means death.
So have a bit of sympathy for the average Israeli.
