- Demonstrators at Emory University have set up tents and spoke out against the Hamas Gaza war Thursday morning, but law enforcement took action when the protesters, who Emory officials say are not a part of their community, would not leave the campus.

On top of that, explain why they are arresting faculty and protest managers? The people quite literally there to ensure to demonstration isn't violent or being infiltrated by those with negative intent? (i.e. fascists, clout chasers, etc.) The cops definitely have no right showing up to a peaceful protest, armed with a good few hundred rounds and push against teenage protesters. This is definitely a violation of rights and the constitution.
This is a whole other issue about that policing looks like in your country. But it also connects with how dangerous your country is and why. So I guess nothing will ever change or be solved as that is just part of who you are as America. I am glad I don't live there and I actually have rights.

The protesters do not know anything about the school. Emory is an R1 research university. R1's are not nice places and are not nice people. The protesters are lucky they are not taking them to the tenth basement floor of the CDC to experiment with bubonic plague, or to the Yerkes primate research center, or over to the eye clinic building to try some new techniques, or to radiology for proton therapy.

The Germans and Ottoman empire were defeated. As part of the Versailles treaty Britain and France had a mandate to govern the defeated territory of the Ottoman empire. I heard that unlike Columbia and UCLA, the Emory protests were peaceful and not disruptive. This sounds like a reaction that went way overboard given the context of the situation. Certainly there was no need for tear gas, rubber bullets and tasers (especially on handcuffed facedown suspects). Those rubber bullets should be banned since they can cause someone to lose their eye. An eye for a suspected small misdemeanor is certainly not supposed to be the American way of handling things.

As an Emory alumnus, I absolutely condemn the actions of these protestors. There is no place for such hate and barbarity on campus.
