If anyone's to blame, it's Russia that's responsible. Transnistria is Moldovan territory. Russia has NO right to touch its neighbors and or other countries. If Ukraine, Moldova, and Georgia/Sakartvelo want to join NATO and or the EU, that's only their choice not Russia's.

Moldova should unite with Romania. It was part of Romania until 1940, when the Soviet Union occupied it.

So tell me again, who is the invader here? who is threatening who here? its like France would tell you that they own land in Slovakia, would that be right? or Thailand is owning land in India. Is that fair to you?! Russia is an invader! Their strategy is to put people in other countries then after years to claim territory from those countries just because there are some Russians living there, the same Russians that were put in place there by Russia. They did it in Ukraine, they did it in Georgia, they did it everywhere in the neighboring countries or where they have an interest. As an American, I'm all for self-determination of different regions. After all, America was once a colony of the British Empire.
But, where I'm always skeptical is when there is so much influence by another country.
Russia has troops in Transnistria. If the people could have a free vote on whether to be an independent country, that would be one thing. But, I'd never trust such results because of Russian influence.
The same goes for the Donbass and Crimes regions of Ukraine. They had referendums, but no one believes the results aren't fraudulent.
Likewise with Putin recently being re-elected. His rival was found dead and it's very likely Putin had him killed.
And, the election had Putin get nearly every vote despite mass disapproval with the war in Ukraine.
This is why I'm far more supportive of Moldova taking back all their territory, just as I support Ukraine taking back their territory.
The Russians always call the West "imperialists," yet this is exactly what they are so guilty of.

Before 1812, another loss for Moldova took place in 1775 when Habsburg Empire got Bucovina from Otomans! Another fact... South of Basarabia consisting from 3 counties ( Ismail, Cahul , Bolgrad ) were lost to Russia... Today northern part of Bucovina and those 3 counties are part of Ukraine...So, Only great powers make the games for them Only....
