  • Hi There!
    After spending the last few weeks creating more stencil designs and playing with my gel plate, I thought it was time to turn the camera on and let you see what I've been working on. In this video I'll share some of my new stencils and a couple of my favorite ways to use them for gel printing collage papers.
    For this video I used a 9x12 and an 8x10 gel plate, Japanese rice paper and a variety of acrylic paints. Here's are links for most of the tools and materials I've used. Let me know in the comments if I've left anything out.

      Thanks for subbing! So sorry about the frustration. I guess I must not have been clear in the video. All the stencils are ones I've created for my own use. Since the making of this video, I've created two video series where I start with the very basics about making your own stencils. I'm cutting mine with a Cricut Maker but from comments I have received from those who have watched my series, the ideas also work with other cutting machines or cutting by hand. I've thought about offering my designs as svg files in my Etsy shop but haven't done that to date. 🥰

      Welcome! Thank you for watching. I do not sell my stencils at this point. I have had several requests. I do not work with a manufacturer so I would be cutting them myself. I may do a poll with several of my favorites to see if there's interest and then put a few in my Etsy shop. Otherwise, I've also thought about selling the SVGs so that a person could purchase a file with multiple designs and cut them at home. I do share so much information in my the two series I created after the video you watched. Stencil Making 101: ruclips.net/p/PLLZLDkP8ZTq3bcQLnOVJ-NrfjYCPhP4PA and then there's a Stencil Making 2.0 created after. Yes, I love working with metallic and iridescent paints. You might start with just purchasing some iridescent medium which you can mix with any paint to may it iridescent. You will find all the product links including the craft plastic I use in the description of the videos. ❤️

    How long does it usually take for the pickup sheet to dry when cleaning off your gel plate? I always seem to have a lot of paint still on the plate! Also, does it matter how long the dry paint has benn on the plate? Will it still come off if left overnight or a couple days?

    • @heartandsoulfuldesign
      @heartandsoulfuldesign  5 месяцев назад

      Thank you for watching. Drying time depends on several factors including where you live and how humid it is there. It also depends on how much paint is on the plate. It really doesn't take much paint and the more you have on the longer it will take to dry. I often put too much paint on and will use a piece of tissue or deli paper to remove some of the paint before I finish rolling. This just takes practice. You should leave your final paper on and rub evenly; this will help you to feel when it's dry enough to remove. The paper will start out feeling cold and maybe even damp as you rub. Once you feel like you've rubbed enough you can leave it on for a bit or lift one corner to see if it's ready to pull. If it's not, I'd wait ten minutes or so and check it again. I wouldn't leave the paper on for more than 20 minutes or so because then the paper might be stuck to your plate and be a mess trying to peel off. This especially happens if you are using something like old book page for your pull. You only want to leave old book page on for a few minutes. As far as the old paint that's left behind on your plate you can either clean it off or leave it like I do. I often like a grungy look so I leave all that paint left behind on the edges and just put my gel plate back in its shell like that until next time. If you want to clean your gel plate and you have dry paint on it, I like to use some white or light color paint and just roll it out on the plate. This will soften the old paint underneath and you should be able to pull the whole thing off and have a clean plate. If you still have some unwanted paint left behind, I use a baby wipe to rub it off. I hope this helps. 🥰

      @@heartandsoulfuldesign@heartandsoulfuldesign bonjour j'écris en français car plus facile pour moi de t'expliquer, j'ai une chaîne RUclips SpoonieLoveJunkJournal et je sous-titre chaque vidéo en 5 langues, c'est vraiment très simple et rapide, si tu veux je peux t'écrire la procédure détaillée avec image si tu veux par mail et j'utiliserai Google translate car je parle pas assez bien anglais pour bien tout traduire 😂... une fois que tu l'auras fais une fois, tu te rendras compte à quel point c'est facile, surtout si tu sous-titre uniquement en français ça te prendra quelques secondes 😅... peux tu me donner ton mail stp car j'aimerais tellement pouvoir tout bien comprendre dans tes vidéos et en plus je pourrais m'améliorer en anglais... j'espère que tu vas être d'accord, bisous ❤❤

      Thank you so much for asking, I have had this question several times now. I've also been asked if I'd share or sell my SVG's for those wanting to cut their own using my patterns. I am seriously considering doing something like this so I appreciate your interest. I will try to work on this over the coming year. I've had a rough year or so of health issues that have kept me from doing as much in 2023 as I would have liked. I will be out of commission for the next couple of months recovering from surgery and am hopeful that the rest of my year will be much more productive so stay tuned. I'm sure when I have something available I will share it here as well as on my Facebook and Instagram. Thank you 🙏

      @@heartandsoulfuldesign I’m so sorry…I hope you’re able to recover quickly. It’s been a tough four years with my mom. I’m sole caregiver and she’s had issues after issues. The worst…shingles in her mouth and throat. I’ve recently discovered geli plates and I’m loving them. Helps to temporarily escape from watching someone I love suffering all the time. I hope you’re better soon . ❤️ from 🇨🇦

      Thank you. I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. Watching our loved ones age and decline in health is very hard so I'm glad you have found a way to take care of yourself creatively. Gel plates are a great way to relax and escape. I'm anxious to get this surgery over with and get back into the studio hopefully sooner than later 🙏🏼❤️

      I'm not sure if your comment is a criticism or a compliment regarding this video. I hope you learned something from this video as I have also been criticized for too much talk by some. In my case, I'm just learning as I go and sharing what I figure out in case it can be helpful for others. Thank you for watching.
