  • If you are a beginner artist wanting to learn to use the Line and Wash technique then this may be the tutorial video for you. Its an easy to follow step by step guide. When I got back into art after a long break I actually came back in via calligraphy and journaling. I did lots of research into ink and pens at that point and soon realised that painting and drawing with water soluble ink is not only good fun but you can achieve a lot of textures. A little line and wash guide suitable for beginners.
    This short demo will show you how to create a drawing using just a fountain pen, filled with water soluble ink and a brush.
    This technique is brilliant for urban sketching too.

    I never thought about using water soluble. Wow. Your art is fresh. Has heart and soul. Lovely for me to see, thank you. I am a botanical artist and trying to be more spontaneous…. Not easy when I have had to be so strict. This video has really helped me 🙏🏼💕

    Your videos are fabulous. Thank you for sharing! I'm new to your channel and love your teaching approach. Plus the side notes like what some have done when they run out of water. hahahah I learned something new today. Again, appreciate your content. I was an illustrator for over 20 years in children's publishing and my lines were so tight due to my assignments. I have wanted to get into urban sketching (loose lines and wash) as my hobby and this helps me greatly. Look forward to learning more from you.

    I really enjoyed your demonstration. I tried this technique without instruction and I had way to much water applied to the sketch and ended up with a muddy picture. Just using water on the shadows makes way more sense. Thank you!

      I have some other vids that cover the pens options and a great place to start is Platinum Carbon Black ink for a black waterproof (when dry) ink. 😁

      @@dougjacksonart how long I can keep it inside the fountain pen, without damaging it, don't send me to another link, straight answers please thanks

    • @dougjacksonart
      @dougjacksonart  5 месяцев назад

      @@nourhanbalian3294 That depends on a huge amount of variables such as the pen, humidity, how long its used etc but i'd guess you be OK for a few weeks between uses. it won't actually damage it even if it dries but it will bung it up meaning the pen will need stripping and cleaning. Soluble ink will do the same but you can normally flush or soak the old ink out. I hope that helps.😁

    What is the fountain pen and ink? It looks like water soluble ink.

    • @dougjacksonart
      @dougjacksonart  8 месяцев назад +1

      This ink is Nick Stewart's Randell Blue Black. But any water soluble ink is fine. The pen os an old Parker pen but any fountain or dip pen will work.
