- www.SmokingPit.com - This video covers the 1st look at the Yoder Wichita wood fired smoker. This is a competition grade stick burner. I had it fitted with the BBQ Guru CycberQ II heat managemet system.
Hi, thanks for viewing! I have a video on building an efficient fire but no seasoning video. I have a seasoning video for my Arizona BBQ Outfitters Scottsdale. Same concept. I don't use oils. I run it hot for a bit then lowers the temp for a long wood fire @ 250 - 300 degrees. That was the Yoder recommended seasoning method.
@pandmonium2k7 Oh, well maybe three. I have really loved the Yoder Cheyenne because of its smaller size and it's affordable price so I probably will pick up one of those too.
I just ordered a loaded Wichita yesterday. $350 shipping to MI, total of $2200+ delivered (I ordered the cooking chamber charcoal grate + the cover, not included in "loaded" Wichita) Might just make my own walkaround video when I get it. I hate waiting for shipping, it's killing me.
been cooking BBQ for over 30 years never need electronics to do the job. but want knock it if it helps you
Awesome smoker. Never heard of them but I'm going to look into getting one
Beautiful rig, great design. Some of the parts resemble my "Horizon" and the "Smokey Joe". Wonder if there is a link between the fabrication and these companies. One recommendation, I lined my fire box with fire clay refractory cement (commonly used in pizza ovens). Aside from deflecting your energy, it will save the paint on your fire box from flaking off and will stop the rust from forming on your exterior.
@pandmonium2k7 LOL... Well I'm actually down to 3 now. Gave my GOSM to a friend who needed one. My custom one is almost done but I'm going to sell it as I have too many and it's too big for what I need now that I have the Wichita. So I will be down to two. The YS640 I have been beta testing for the builder so its going to another guy after it gets all the production upgrades.
Handsome looking Grill you got there.
Hey Rob, With such a nice smoker, did you ever do a demonstration on building the fire and seasoning the pit?
Is there a heat baffle between the firebox and the cooking chamber and can you use only charcoal to get 230 degrees in the cooking chamber or soes it take stick wood.....also does the yoder take alot of management to keep the temp constant?
very nice
Hey Rob! Great video but I wanna know how easy is it to move that grill around? I know it weigh over 600 lbs! Thanks I really want to get this grill!
Nice smoker!
Damn Rob, how many smokers you have now? lol
Good stuff Rob! Though I think you have hoarders disease. You collect smokers like i collect parking tickets
