  • A celebration of Django Reinhardt's 100th birthday, Le QuecumBar in London brought together 34 of some of the world's finest Gypsy guitar players from 6 countries. We are proud to say that 50% of those who accepted our invitation and represented the music of Django from across Europe were Gypsies.
    Buy a Triple CD of the Festival at our online shop www.quecumbar.co.uk or download at www.linnrecords.com
    All Gypsy Swing fans who know about the Django Reinhardt festival at Samois sur Seine each year will know that each year since the festival name has been bought by a French Jazz radio station that the presence of the Gypsies on stage has dimished each year - many of us do not agree with this adulteration of the Django festival and as requested by fans I have placed a petitition at the followijng link - if oyu agree please go there and sign and pass on to other Gypsy Swing fans thi sis their music and their hero
    Django festival Samois - more homage to Gypsies
    Please sign the petition below

    That's a marvellous portrait of a magic gathering of the best Django Reinhardt and gipsy music interpretes in London. with very authentic reports. And I'm very happy it was captured because I wasn't there... And the true philosophic point of Tcha Limberger that Django was the expression of a whole unique culture.which hopefully will remain forever ...

    Thank you all for your great comments - I just wish we were able to do this every year but sadly getting any kind of funding to support musicians is almost impossible - but this was an amazing 9 days with truly amazing musicians most of them a total joy to work with and were so very supportive, so thank you to them for their heartfelt support too -

    Django is part and parcel of Jazz History! He wrote it! Being a Roma and having endured what he endured makes his contribution and presence in Jazz even more so valuable and priceless. More power to you guys!!!

    February 2021 finds us still in Lockdown - we do not know when we will be allowed to open or how we will be allowed to trade - government support has been slow and minimal contrary to what they have been announcing - we are battling to survive and may not make the end of 2021 after 18 years of supporting and playing live music - please help support us by listening and sharing our music on Spotify and Apple music on our own label Le Q Records a selection of albums recorded live here capturing those moments of musical magic - keep live music live and share the joy. Love from Le QuecumBar stay safe

    Gypsy jazz is more like a style than genre. The way its played with only manouche guitars and bass.

    why not name the musicians the most important thing. I can't respect a site that doesn't help the musicians that are alive today.

    Yeah too bad, we all know speed strips away the musicality of this.

  • @lalubitsch
    @lalubitsch 12 лет назад

    too bad contemporary gypsie players are only trying to play fast, Django is not about speed, you have to be surrealistic, you have to be floatin in nuages in order to play like Django, of course you need technique, but imagination is as important... It´s not a speed contest people should know that
