Go-Go's - Our Lips Are Sealed (Extended 12" Version) (Music Video)
The Extended 12" Version of The Go-Go's "Our Lips Are Sealed" - with re-synched/edited music video to match. You get twice the Jane than the regular version...twice as nice!
The ultimate girl band...and probably the best of the '80s, one hit after another. You can't think about the 80's and not think about The Go-Go's. I instantly go back to my youth.
Hallmark of growing up in the 80's. Innovative musicians and easy on the eyes and ears!👍
There are few songs that just encapsulate an entire era.
This is one of those songs.
As hokey as it sounds, when you hear Belinda Carlisle's voice on this song, the guitars, hear the familiar drum beat, and watch The Go-Go's dancing and just generally goofing off in the video, it's the 1980's again.
I always love looking in the background of this video and thinking this is a snapshot of LA in the 1980s.
I get it...old photographic memories...cool
Old ghost signs faded after decades...old memories...good old days
Everytime I hit on an 'oldie' like the Go-Go's, ELO, the B52s, or Blondie, the best of my early adulthood is distilled into a shot of pure ecstatic remembrance.
Belinda Carlisle, the way she moves, her great looks and her energy drove all us guys CRAZY.
I wish I could go back in time and relive this moment again. I love the 80´s and I love Belinda! Now it is all lost in time.....
I had the biggest crush on Belinda Carslile when I was just a kid. 😢 she was the most beautiful woman in the world to me back then. I remember her on David Letterman I just couldn't believe a person could look so pretty
This song never gets old - loves it
College in the 80's was great - no draft, good music, 18 to buy a beer in a bar, and penicillin cured ever venereal disease known to man.
jane wiedlin is a legend
I can't imagine anyone who grew up in the early 80's (guy or girl) not having fond memories of this song
One of the first bass lines I ever learned. God bless Kathy Valentine
When listening to a well written and played song, sometimes you don't want it to end. Thank you for keeping this one going longer. It may be looped, but who cares.
The original version by fun boy 3 is just as good ...jane cowrote this the original singers
Music like this makes me want to go back in time to the sweet 80s
I have gained a great appreciation in recent years for Kathy Valentine's work on the bass, and not just on this song.
She’s an amazing bass player!!
"Hush my darling, don't you cry, darling angel, open eye's." You're still just as beautiful as ever, Jane. Thank you for sharing both, your gift of music and for your love of animal rights..."
Sometimes stars align perfectly. Fall of '82, walking through the Arboretum in Ann Arbor as a student at U of M, Spotted this enchanting young brunette and struck up a conversation that would later lead to a semester of shared classes, late night pizza and sleep over studying. She left for graduate school and I lost touch. Six months ago, 31 years older, a few hairs less, in a sport's bar in Ann Arbor, I ordered a pizza and a Pitcher. With the Go Gos playing, there SHE was two booths over.
The eighties saw so many great girl bands: the Go-Go's, Bananarama, The Bangles just to mention a few. The music was fantastic, uplifting and so enjoyable. One word that I believe represents this period: optimism. Never get tired of listening to all that great stuff. The best years of my life.
Wendy James is the hottest of them all !!!
Aaron Friedman I saw Transvision Vamp live in Perth, Western Australia many years ago, awesome live.
There was a kind of electricity in the air in the 80's what with Reagan and all... and it didn't hurt if you were in your 20's in the 80's... and in college. Man that was PURE HEAVEN.
now its a lot of trash.
@@johngregory4128 I'd agree that today's top 40 is trash, you bet. But there is still plenty of soul out there, if you know where to look. It's not all autotune and overproduced. There is all kinds of genuine, amazing talent that never sees airplay.
Terry Hall has written some great tunes. This is one of them.
i agree with everything you said. there is so much that happened in the 80s that would never happen today, especially in pop music.
Yeah, mid 80's when I moved to Cincinnati, cheese coney's, chili spaghetti, double deckers. Brings back the memories... Thanx! :)
One of the best of the 80's no doubt.
Love this, Terry Hall god bless him and Jane Wiedlin could write a song!
-- Call me a pervert all you want--but the best shot is when Jane Wiedlen jumps in that fountain! I would wait to see that video in 81 and it still makes me smile today. DAMN!!!.....I miss the 80's.
I had a massive crush on all of them, but Belinda when she was plump was supreme! And Jane was just bloody cute! Love it!
Incredible song with infectious beat and deep, insightful even esoteric lyrics
Can you hear them?
They talk about us
Telling lies
Well, that's no surprise
Can you see them?
See right through them
They have no shield
No secrets to reveal
Doesn't matter what they say
In the jealous games people play
Hey, hey, hey
Our lips are sealed
There's a weapon
That we must use
In our defense
Silence
When you look at them
Look right through them
That's when they'll disappear
That's when we'll be feared
It doesn't matter what they say
In the jealous games people play
Hey, hey, hey
Our lips are sealed
Pay no mind to what they say
It doesn't matter anyway
Hey, hey, hey
Our lips are sealed
Hush, my darling
Don't you cry
Quiet angel
Forget their lies
Can you hear them?
They talk about us
Telling lies
Well, that's no surprise
Can you see them?
See right through them
They have no shield
No secrets to reveal
Doesn't matter what they say
In the jealous games people play
Hey, hey, hey
Our lips are sealed
Pay no mind to what they say
It doesn't matter anyway
Hey, hey, hey
Our lips are sealed
Our lips are sealed
Oh, our lips are sealed
Jeezus, back in the day, when shit was so much more simple, no bs happening, everyone pretty much got along, music was awesome.....take me back to the eighties!
-Completely disagree!
The 80's were a dream...one I never woke up from.
Would'nt you want to go back in time and relive these moments! What a time, 80's rocks man it just rocks! Always takes me back, what a feeling man what a feeling!!!
I would love to go back to the eighties again. I loved it .
Their lips were anything but sealed in the 80's.
They partied like motherfuckers they scared OZZYno shit.
I LOVE the bass in this song!!!!
Yeah me too.The bass always stood out to me on this track. We got the beat has a great riffy bassline also though.
The thing about the Go-Gos was that in a lot of their songs the bass was actually the "lead" instrument while the guitar kept rhythm. Not in every song, of course, but a lot of them (including this one). The Who often did the same thing.
The 80s were great. I miss those days.
The 80s were AWESOME for being a 16 year old back then. The Go Go's were my dream babes back then especially Jane Wiedlen because she was hot.
This album is amazing, its one of those where all the songs are good.
Lucky man me.....had a girlfriend that looked like Belinda Carlisle.....where did I go wrong Jackie? Absolutely love this song
You know I agree With Sailn I Want the 80s Back Some day we are all going to be in nursing homes Waching old MTV footage and Reminssing about the olden days lol
I recall a number a years ago early 2000s early morning still more than half a sleep in bed and this song with them singing those words started ringing in my head almost hauntingly. Its my favorite Go Gos.
Jane Wiedlen = 80s teen crush
Love this "Alex The Seal" song!
+Thomas Gregory
I love it too..."Alex the seal..."
lol. :-)
I absolutely adore how Belinda dances and moves in this video, so cute!
We used to cut class and hangout all day just to watch MTV and smoke weed....hellyaaa!!!!
Great song from the 80s
I think the Go-Go's get lost sometimes in the all time great girls group lists. This song's really catchy, and they actually wrote it themselves
Jane is by far the coolest Go Go
IT never fails everytime I listen to this classic I am immediately transported to my childhood and early teens when times were so cool. I mean things were REAL, not cell phone or facebook fantasy but REAL.
My lips were sealed own Thursday Dec 18, 1997 when I was having a 4 hour jaw surgery. I would not wish this operation own my worst enemy.
+harry Hand what was happening - implants, bridge treatment or a fractured jaw - I'm curious?
"I need your help to get back to the year, 1985."
Awesome I still have the 45 color face of the go goes this brings back fun memories of High School
My Mother thought it was said "Alex the Seal" lol.
I lick the seal! :P
:)
hahaha..
For a long time I thought it was "Honest I see you" then I discovered the track name
thanks i thought that was great
a lot of people don't know that you could rent classic cars straight out of LAX in the early 80s like the 59 buick in the go-gos vid.
I just love this…R O C K S T A R S !!! 40 years wonderful !!!LOL love you do!!!!!
Very Los Angeles. I miss those days, such a long time ago now.
one of their best hits
The Fun Boy Three version was great.
+geoff N It sounded good and I liked it, but their sombre tone had jack shit to do with the lyrics! It was meant to be happy care-free track. It's like they covered it for a laugh.
+Goonerville Gonad f b t terry hall wrote the song for the go go's
bazza7777777 Terry actually co-wrote it with Jane Wiedlin of the Go Go's. So although FBT had a hand in creating the track, they still technically covered the original, right, because the Go Go's released it first.
+bazza7777777 co-wrote it.
Goonerville Gonad never new that you learn summat every day hey 😀
It was brilliant that they shot this video outside in Los Angeles .It would cost a small fortune to do it for the past 20 some years. All the fees and licensing to shoot on location.
They play the Hollywood freaking bowl on 29 Sep 12. Chilly, but I am so there!. Thanks for sharing this vid- it really took me back. Crikey I am old
Nice tune. And judging by the comments, everybody is part-time troll nowadays. And full time pervs.
I suspect most of them did not grow up listening to this tune or watching MTV back in the day when they actually showed music videos instead of reality crap like now. Imagine....they actually had music videos on MTV back in the 80s....what a novel concept....everything is screwed up by jerks and morons today. Gen-M at work.....that would be generation moron.
CD
Always been like that...............and always will be.
+KikoBarahona It's hard not to be a perv - but as for trolling there's a time and a place....
this song was co wrote by terry hall and jane weidlin, my favourite is fun boy three version
No fookin way!
Yummy....cruisin down the PCH with the top down, this song on full blast in '81.
I sat next to Stacy Q at a house party in the 80's, fact. Quick drive from Cerritos off the 91W. 😊😊😊
Party was in Norwalk or Artesia. I wasn't driving. ❤❤❤
Belinda was sporting the freshman 15 in this video.
But so cute.
Drugs do a body bad...
They wrote their own shit too. Very impressive.
... with Fun Boy Three.
SteelTurtle74 vengaboys
Still the only all-girl group (in history) to write almost all their own stuff (the Bangles usually had help).
Pure, pure, a different time and place, how wonderful it was. Hush my darling. Can you see them. Are lips are sealed, fabulous.
Ahhhh the 80s! Awesome groups of our era. Seems like yesterday first time I heard these cute gals was in the summer of 1981. Yikes!
best version.fun boy three
yeah. love this so much. great version. but FB3 had a kinda melancholic vibe to it that gave it more weight, more texture if you get what i mean
+uk1988tb303
Totally agreed! I'd only known FB3 & Bananarama's version, but a Texan girlfriend from Austin introduced me to the Go-Gos. Any day - but which did come first? New Wave Rules Pop anyday ;)
Howard Downes I'm not sure, but if i recall correctly, Terry Hall specifically wrote the song for the Go-Go's. Same as the collab on Our Lips Are Sealed. He was a huge fan. Don't get me wrong, love the GG's version, and the vid is cool, but FB3 I think is better.
Belinda Carslile!!! Gorgeous!!!!
Miranda Carbide
I used to be obsessed with these guys . still am i guess . they were a great live band.
Great song - and yes, you're right about the deteriorated quality of life in SOCAL now - went to college down there in the '70's and if I had to give the West Coast an enema today, that's where I'd drop the end of the hose.
Still prefer Terry Hall's version with Fun Boy Three.
Does extended 12" mean anything to anyone under the age of 40 lol
I am 39 and yes it does
I've had to explain the concept!
Apparently vinyl is coming back into fashion with some of the latest artists. Always loved going into the record stores, not the same browsing an mp3 collection.
***** mp3 stinks
***** yes i do. im 34
Exactly! The last classic American cars were built in the early-mid 1970s. BIG GM convertibles (built up until 1976) like this 1960 Buick will always be collectible and some even full-on classics.
I was 25, living in LA when this song was released. Belinda is so damned cute in this video. We loved the Go Go's, ah-h, youth!
How do you fit a 12 inch CD in a normal CD player? LOL, just kidding.
the longer version isn't as good, just the song repeated, hehe
You took the words right out of my mouth...or screen, as it were!
My 1982 La Brea tar pits field trip never looked better!
Miss Grasser, I remember you dearly and still love you...."your Sergio" :)
Belinda was hot....!!!!
Naturally beautiful
Belinda was my yummy girl.
Yummy and then YUMMY a lot more . She was so smoking HAWT back in the days of the good ole 80s.
Luke A Jane Weidlin. Yum.
Just Perfect!!! it was one of the best season for the time....Amazing years with good song for all kind of music....80s the best!
Now these girls were the shit. I was in love with the go-go's. I was in junior high and couldn't get enough of their punk rock sound. They were so kick ass !
Sorry, but this is a pretty dreadful edit.
I used to think they said "I love Cecile"... Hey, circa '81 yall, learn it and love it. I was a Freshman in high school in 1981. What an awesome time to grow up.
Now this song is so 80's as u can get.. GOOD OLD TIMES !!!! Asking the girls out, or trying to get the nerve to do it... and this song was great inspiration for me to do that. Today its just the best memory's to carry around, what was my biggest worry's? girls, wish that was all I need to worry about today. But... thanks for the great music of the 80's !!!!
California go there, always cool, always fun, always exciting.
Take your chances to live your dream and succeed.
Never look back.
The future is your's to shape.
Been here 40+ years and growing younger each day.
How can the rappers ever hope to be as good as this ?
Reminds me of my happy childhood! Awesome song, awesome time to be a kid!
My first concert ever- The Go -Go's . Opening band: Flock of Seagulls (who were fantastic).
I'm forever in love with Jane Wiedlin.
Very, very, very nice Belinda, congratulations
man betcha those 60s pop stars were dying for a song like this then...u know who are! LOL it captures the 60's/80s pop song hook.
Ahhhhhhh, summer in the 80s!!!
Yes folks the GO Gos version of American Pie in terms of the time of the song.Great video.
She's adorable: very babyfaced. My friend Andy loved her when he was a kid. He liked her "cute" stage.
@chauhpham I am totally with you. I am only 3 years older. i really really miss the days of 80's especially when I heard this song. Other than studying, there was only playing, sleeping, and listening to great music. Would you like to go back in time with me to and watched the concerts of the great new wave bands of 80's?
Thank you you tube for keeping my music video alive from tge 80s.I just feel so sorry of tge kids in the 90s and know in 2012.because they miss out on tge best time for rock and roll.one day rock will come back long live rock and roll
What a great song!
The Beaver in Green wrote this song. Excellent job Green Beaver. 10/10
This song ages many of us.... We all get the songs that we listen to so many times "repeatedly" for hours/days/weeks..... and then move on, but come back to it in a year, and remember "why" we listened to it so much... Because it rocked our lives at that time!..... This was my first "repeated" over n over song.... since then many have come and went, yet always revisit them, and like all-over again... From Ozzy to Clapton, Poco to Skynard....
Grew up on early 80's gotta mluv it!
Belinda is the little sister of your fraternity house..What a precious face and personality she has.
One thing I love listening to 70s and 80s are the real talent and quality of voice, no digital retuning whatever.... Where I can borrow a time machine? Marty are you still around dude? :)
...Only 394,000 hits ??....This is one of the greatest California Swing dance songs ever......should have 20 million hits.....
