I like the difference between the coronations of Aegon and Rhaenyra. The citizens who witnessed Aegon coronation were must to bend, they had to go to the dragonpit surrounded by knights, there wasn't a choice. At Rhaenyra's coronation people bended the knee, because they accept, they choose Rhaenyra as their queen. There wasn't abuse, even the slightest. Noone was angry at Rhaenys to not bend before Rhaenyra also. It shows Rhaenyra was a natural ruler, leader, she really borned to the role. Also the way Rhaenyra and Rhaenys stand face to face while Rhaenyra was declared as the true Queen added more layers to the scene. The Queen who never was and The Black Queen.
I think Emma's GQ interview may help you cope with that scene. The ep is abysmal in explaining what they were trying to do there.
It's a bit like the "accidental" Jaime rape scene in GoT. Most people just ignore it happened. I can get over this choking scene in HoTD in a similar way. This weekend another big online fandom (Interview with the Vampire) was facing similar issues with a character acting OOC, and that is slightly more difficult to let go as just a wayward incident. For those who know you know. 😶🌫But I'm trying to embrace the fuckery there too, but it's very difficult when you have such a well-established book-character and something just feels off about the way they're acting. Point is - it really brought home the point that this scene in HOTD was such a small thing in comparison, so I made my peace with it...

@@ciaocezi5693 idk I don't think he will in the obvious meaning of the word, but now there is a chance they both will be cruel towards each other at times. these deaths are her breaking point and the reason she will accept his methods. although he harmed her physically she wounded him pretty deeply in return and she knew where to aim. I can see how it can be a one time thing that will establish the dynamic where she is a dominating side. or it will be a constant push and pull

I thought it was actually one of the best scenes. the show establishing daemon as a rogue who has alot of redeeming qualities but is also a very dark character was great. it reminded us not to Stan a character like him and at the same time beautifully reminded us not to hate aemon even though he killed Luke. alot of people still don't like aemon but they feel better knowing he wasnt just an evil character but someone who made a mistake which will cause a huge ripil effect. the fact that they made us sympathize with aemon and at the same time hate daemon was very good in my opinion. I had the fear that they were turning daemons character arc into someone like jon snow but his true arc resembles moreso Jaimie lanister.
I can't believe that my ultimate fav instrument "moonlight sonata" playing for one of my ultimate fanfic couple "Daemyra".

By the way, I too was shocked by *that* scene, but thinking about it and after rewatching it, I realized the gesture itself was not meant to be as intense as the audience perceived it to be.
Considering all that Daemon was going through (the death of his brother and daughter, almost both caused by the Greens), he poured all that pain in the only thing he thought to be done: justice and vengeance. Hearing his wife talking about dreams and prophecies, as his “week” brother did, made him completely lose control.
Well that’s what I think at least (hoping that the writes made this choice considering all of this and not just as a random gesture of a violent man)

Hello! HOTD is my favorite show. I started subscribing to several video editors on RUclips to watch HOTD videos. By far your videos are the best. You know what song/music to choose and what clips to add. Your editing skills are amazing and inspirational. I can’t wait for season 2 to come out. Many great scenes can be used for editing. Such as wars, dragons, fights, speeches, etc.
