One of the perfect spots for building your base is at the campsite where you find the modern axe. It has a small body of water that doesnt freeze over during winter and the campsite has guaranteed MRE's and sodas spawning each time you load. Plus its a nice open clearing
3 months later and I built my base here too , inside that little fenced in area and then built around it clearing trees . Cool to see alot of people end up here!
Ngl, the first Forest game was always decent, sometimes good, but never quite what i was hoping for it to be. Sons of the Forest is more i couldve imagined. Theres so many small details and features hidden in the game, from the log transporting technique to watching an eagle grab a fish out of a lake and then land to eat it, it has so much to look at. Such a beautiful game
There are many stuff that were removed or underachieving in the newer game compared to the original from what I read. For example the crafting related to different animal types.
Glad to see the multiplayer item duplication glitch from the first game is basically identical in this game! It is suuuuuper handy for simple items like cloth! Also, the final tip couldn't be more true! Don't full on complete the game straight away, savour the story and start by just collecting essential items like the shovel and ropegun. You'll want to at least have them as caves get tougher late game with tons more enemies
Shame the display table thing isn't currently present in the second game. It was quite useful to duplicate story items (like rebreather and axes and such) so that other members, especially the ones who joined in late, don't have to go through the caves anymore to catch up.
@@EironKyle that's true! The first game had sooooo many ways to exploit and get more stuff! I get why this game doesn't have those glitches though, because well... They're not intended 😂
A silly tip I never seen mentioned anywhere is: *You can open boxes and case by hitting them.* Of course you can HOLD the action key for few seconds, but if you're already holding a weapon, or a rock, is still a faster way to do it.
dope video man, I'm currently editing my first episode of a playthrough for this game. I can feel myself getting immersed so quickly. high quality video bro, you deserve some more subs
very well done informative video and you speak so well. spent a considerable amount of hours in the game so knew most of these already but i didnt know about puting high comfort clothes on and resting on a bench thanks for that! i often find myself needing rest in the middle of the day lol😁
As of June 23rd, you can’t drink straight from a river, lake, etc. without losing some health. You have to boil the water now. A “dirty water, clean water” system. For moving logs via zipline, you can also now move logs of any size across ziplines, not just full size logs.
Me and my gf are having a blast with this game! yes it’s not complete and some items or buildings from the forest are not there (yet) but the game is amazing! building is so much better! Combat is fun too.
I’m on like day 120 so pretty much every cannibal has armor so I don’t really use ranged weapons anymore, I usually just heavy swing the katana at their back after they swing. Free kill.
frankly i find the actual backpack nearly useless when we have the keybinds, the things I would put most often on it are things I want out quickly but not quick enough to use a keybind. Since the stuff i usually would want on it can't put on it I mostly make sure that rocks are on it so I don't have to open the inventory to get to stones but sometimes if i'm out of stones it will switch that slot to skulls and i have to fix it later.
also if you want permanent food that doesn't reduce thirst, cook your meats/fish before putting it on the drying rack it won't turn to "dried" meat instead it will remain as "cooked" meat giving the full benefit without expiring.
@@alessioHD I somehow didn't know that you can extend fences upwards. And the "wear comfortable on a bench" too, but I don't think I'm going to use it.

The incentive of The Forest was never the story. It was the building and surviving. Don't get me wrong, I want more story elements. But if you're mainly here for that reason, you picked the wrong game.
The Problem with your statement is that the devs have added so much in the game that pushes you to finish the story instead of building. 1: there is tons of beds underground where you can sleep, save and even make food. so no need for building to survive. 2: The constant raids of cannibals or mutants, who focus your base buildings over you. 3: The Friendly AI like Kelvin and Virginia isn't always helping in defending. Kelvin is biggest problem here, as he does nothing to help defend, Virginia can help, but her aim isn't always on point and she sometimes runs off into the woods. 4: The lack of Defensive building stuff, like Traps, reinforced walls etc.. (Yes, I know the Rocks is buildable in the game now, and can be used as defensive.. But they also added the end boss as an enemy that can spawn near your base to destroy it, and its just as strong as its in the caves. 5: Then we have the brokenly Over powered Enemy.. he Glowing Creep.. or the blue glowing cave Mutant.. That can 3 shot an player with creep armor, and have an insane health pool, and always spawns in packs of those Cave mutants, and there is always 2 of those Glowing ones in each pack. I can keep going with points on why the game isn't incentivising the players to build.. but then this respond would be too long.. which it already is.
@@darknessmohag6181 Sounds to me like a simple fix would be to play the game in a more survival-esque way rather than rushing to complete the story then complain that your base is constantly being attacked by demons and cave mutants. There is no point in rushing to finish the story in this game. Just survive on the surface, start exploring the caves once you have a small base with defenses set up and survive. That's the point of the game. Survival.
@@indecisivewolf5620 you do know that Mutants will attack the base in midgame also.. meaning, during the time you have gotten the shovel and fire axe/chainsaw. And The Fire axe/Chainsaw is meant to be tools to help with Base building, same with ziplines.. But when you have those Mutants will attack your base. Also.. if I would build base without having to deal with mutants I need to do that in Early game, before you get Fire axe/Chainsaw/Zipline. Face it.. The Game is making it unreasonably hard to build base in the game, as The AI will attack building First, or focus mostly on the buildings instead of you.. and one wall can be enough damage to destroy the whole building you spend maybe 2 hours on.
@@darknessmohag6181 I agree it was such a pain in ass to build that the only logical thing to do was just keep moving especially in the beginning with such weak weapons.
