Everything in this movie is great, specially the animation. Every detail, from the reflections on the sea, to every single hair moving with the wind, the lightning effects, everything is so perfect. In my opinion, if it wasn't for the cartoony characters, some scenes could pass as live action sequences.
Notice Spielberg rocks with the motion of the gymbal mimicking the motion of the boat rocking back and forth; that way he keeps his mind focused on what the actors are feeling. Man's a genius, and like a kid in a candy store with this new tech.
This movie was beautifully done. I wish the sequels had gone ahead. I loved reading Tin Tin as a child and the animated series is an old time favorite of mine and seeing it go to the big screen was like a childhood realizing moment
It isn't easy to direct actors when they are doing Motion Capture animation, or MoCap... Actors have a tendency to overact their movements when doing mocap with the result of very unconvincing animation. Just look at some games, like the Grand Theft Auto series where most Mocap is not properly directed. Andy Serkis though, is a master when it comes down to MoCap acting, he's also a great director, can't wait for the next movie or computer game which involves Andy Serkis' Mocap acting or directing.
The movie is such a masterpiece and its so underrated, i wish more people would appreciate the movie. Its filled with action, comedy and emotions. You can tell just by watching the movie that they put a lot of love and care into it.
I personally think the film was good, considering that it was based from three comic books from Tintin (I have also read the comics), it is not always possible for seperate films to be made for each comic book so I liked how they made a new story with a combination of elements and parts from the comics, lets hope the sequel is also good.
Dude one of the greatest movies I have witnessed while in the movie theater. Still wish there was a sequel to this. It's impressive that it still looks good till this day. Even if some shots primarily being market for the 3D aesthetic, it was thrilling to rewatch this whenever I want to.
I like that the comics on the walls are from the section in destination moon when haddock finds out he's going to outer space. All his major expressions in 2 pages
The strangest thing for me about this whole video is that, despite seeing him in another movie yesterday, Jamie Bell doesn't look as strange with the mo-cap suit as I thought he would.
This is one of the films that inspired me to get into animation and man I still love it! The behind the scenes is so fascinating and seeing how they do everything is just astounding! They put so much love and effort into it! Watching this gives me chills, I love it! Amazing!
@@airputih2513 Jamie is older than Tom, so it could actually be that Tom Holland IS like Jamie Bell!! xD But seriously, they are so similar that at the begining I thought they were siblings or something
still makes my mouth water... I was really hoping that as of now (2020) more people would be able to create stuff like this but it is still really hard to do (and to distribute products to specific markets like Netflix etc) Great technique!
I Want To See James Bond VS Gollum!!! And Yet This Movie Has It All!!! Middle Earth, Doctor Who & Indiana Jones: All 3 Creators All Together!!! YAY........My Childhood Memories Have Saved.................Saved I Tell You!!!!
I love this movie so much and the motion captureperformance was so amazing ! :) I think Herge' would have been proud of this film if he saw what you can do with today's technology in movies :) . Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson did a fantastic job with this movie and they are my favorite moviecreators and directors :) .
Guys this is awesome work! This is so awesome! I always love watching how ground breaking technology is used in creating stuff that we have cherished and grown up knowing like Tintin. I loved seeing how L.A.Noire was made and now I love this even more.
You know I used to get bored with drama classes when they had you react and hold objects that weren't there, but I guess now those teaching methods aren't as useless as I thought.
This is perfect, this is exactly how I intend to turn the SLY COOPER games into movies, that and I also need 1.5 times the budget this movie had, for length. I want to get all the source material into 2 1/2+ hour long movies. It'll have non stop action and endless frame breaking 3D throughout to deliver the ultimate experience.
He's the producer :) It's interesting how when Peter Jackson made his first flick (Bad Taste) He made a reference to E.T.(With the line: "There's no glowing fingers on these bastards") and now he's working with Steven Spielberg :')
As someone whos done more drama acting than film acting this looks like so much fun, its really just playing pretend, so much freedom, very similar to a stage
yeah same here...a sequel would be nice...i think the way they made the movie was because they know they cant make movies about every single one...thats they integrated so many comics into the secret of the unicorn...it does tend to have a slightly negative effect on the movie
and they say the performance of the actor is not so important in those new cgi movies... it's similar to theatre, they have to imagine the scene. sooo difficoult!
This movie is so underrated.
There's gonna be a sequel red rackhams treasure, also I agree this is one of my favourite movies ever
I m waiting and waiting everyday... By this year the sequel should have been far released! Yet there is no sign of declaration from them! 😴
There is! search for Spilberg statment about it from this week.

IKR
The skin shaders in Tintin were fantastic... possibly the best I've seen in any movie... and I've seen a lot.
Advection357 i agree
imaging working with peter jackson and spielberg............. nerdgasm

I adore this movie...there's so much action, the animation thru motion-capture is stupendous, the acting is great, and the ride is such a thrill!
It's cool to see the whole motion capture process.

truth has been said :D
they dont run full render-mode on set, do you think snowy was moving like that xD
He's playing Alfred now!
Did you like Mowgli?
I love seeing how they do motion capture stuff like this. Rocking the whole set to make it look more like a boat was really cool!
Spielberg and Jackson together, it's great to see two superb movie directors learning from each other.

for real

What? They actually rocked the "ship". That's commitment.

It’s crazy to me this move is over a decade old. The animation is state of the art even in 2024. Such a fun film.

Watched this masterpiece again in 2020. Can't believe it's 9 years old. Such a great animated gem. Really hoping for another adventure.💯🔥
The strangest thing for me about this whole video is that, despite seeing him in another movie yesterday, Jamie Bell doesn't look as strange with the mo-cap suit as I thought he would.
This movie Is so ahead of its time
Love the voice of tintin
Love this film. Didn't think it would be as good as it is. And it truly is a marvelous film. Every inch of it.
i just finished seeing tin tin for the first time, i can't believe i put it off for so long. absolutely fantastic!!
They did a great job recreating Tintin for a 2011 movie! Well done 👏

I saw it again, forgot how good it was. It's the state of the art for motion capture, no doubt.

Motion capture never ceases to amaze me!
Spielberg has done wonders !
i have the movie and most of the tintin books and i am french and living in belgium (the home country of tintin and his creator hergé)
No wonder this movie so amazing...
r u kidding me? i been reading tintin since a long time...it was a brilliant movie...
2:51 I have a strong feeling that this scene would’ve been Tintin stepping on a rake and the handle whacking him in the face 😂
Once Andy puts on the motion capture suit. Thats when the real magic happens.
I just realized that the actor for Captain Haddock is the same dude for Gollum... o_0
And King Kong, Caesar, Klaw, and Supreme Leader Snoke.
I honestly didn’t know Daniel Craig was Sakharine until a few days ago! 😅
