- In this video Alex Jardine shows us how to tie his take on a Mayfly Emerger. When the trout are on the Mayfly there are times when they become a little educated. This is the time to try the emerger and this pattern has often made the difference between success and failure.

Hook: Partridge Sedge Caddis - K12ST
Thread: Semperfli Classic Waxed 8/0 - Claret
Tail/Tag: Pheasant Tail
Rib: Semperfli Micro Metal - Brown
Body: Semperfli Superfine Dry Fly Dubbing - Danica (SF5000)
Post: Flat Foam 2mm - Tan
Hackle: 2 x Goose CDC
Thorax: Nature's Spirit African Goat Dubbing - Canadian Brown Leach (31b)

Hi there, I watched your dad’s emerger video where he added a small amount of Claret dubbing to the thorax area,have you ever tried that? I fish the upper reaches of the river Clyde and used a wee bit of Claret dubbing on the hatching Pale evening Dun,it worked a treat.Really enjoying your tying videos,really good content.I last spoke to your dad at the first Kelso game fair and mentioned the Claret dubbing working on my Clyde emergers, cheers and please keep tying and of course stay safe and well.
