That one soldier who was saved and has to make sure Tifa doesn't go inside the building seems like an interesting character. I hope SE will make a fully fledged game starring him

Nah, he got toasted. You could see him outside Cloud's house but then he wasn't there later.
The hero never realizes he is the hero until the end and when it gets to that point he still doesn't feel like hero. That's what makes him likeable.

Wow! You can just HEAR Zack in the way that Cloud talks in these cutscenes. The voice, the mannerisms are all Zack Fair! Also, makes you wonder why Tifa didn't interject during Cloud's storytelling besides when he was in her house.
It's similar to the original game where she doesn't interject, but I won't spoil anymore if you don't know
@@theplatdream26 I played the original, but it's different here because it's a slightly different timeline because of the Fate things, and because in the original, it wasn't voiced. Here, I fully expect Tifa to say something afterward.
Tifa's probably reeling with the fact that Cloud's recollections are near perfect, but he's in Zack's place from her memories - she didn't know Cloud was actually there, and he never mentions Zack, so she's probably questioning if her own memories of the events were accurate
Tifa doesn't know how to act, so she's keeping quiet. They all act differently in OG and remake when cloud has his breakdowns. Remember every time we see Cloud have his painful flashes that's Sephiroths trying to manipulate him and assaulting his mind.
Aerith holds his hands and acts all motherly when she's around. Barret acts tough and tells him to get it together. Tifas frightened to say the truth, in case he snaps and turns out like Sephiroths. Imagine at that moment telling him it's all a lie and that was Zack. Everyone else would think he's crazy, and Cloud would go into a meltdown.
I know right. His 'impression' of Zack brings smile to my face.
Im all giddy watching Cloud(Zack) spoke with Sephiroth
The part where Sephiroth is in the basement and the candle flames get bigger, foreshadowing the village burning, making his shadow more pronounced and larger, then him saying “Mother is waiting” gave me chills.
The Shinra mansion gave me huge Resident Evil 1 vibes.

Seems they are back with their roots, since SE will launch Rebirth and Capcom will do the same with Dragon's Dogma 2.

The scene which Cloud open the door to his home and get blasted into the exact place where the fallen grunt was laying down. That is a sweet sweet foreshadowing scene

How errm, cribge" when the said remake has LOADS of new people getting invested into the story still makes you an asshole.
Sephiroth's descending into madness both in the reactor and the Shinra manor scenes was more terryfing and goosebumps than the OG, like an horror movie, the soundtrack is perfect for creating that atmosphere.
This part of the game always disturbed me, but seeing it hear, fully voiced, having a much greater understanding, it all just feels so different
It felt like I was playing a horror / survival game. The atmosphere is incredible.

One of the things I'm really enjoying is how likeable and mostly heroic Sephiroth is. He's a bit distant and aloof, but honestly I'm reading that as more socially awkward than anything else. I've always seen Cloud and Sephiroth and parallel characters (and frankly, I don't know who wouldn't) - but mostly in a sense that Cloud overcomes the influence of JENOVA by becoming more true to himself while Sephiroth completely succumbs to it and loses his humanity entirely.
Neat stuff! Ugh, three more weeks!
Having hojo as his dad probably doesn't help either.

I see a lot of people talking about 1:36:00, where there surrounding Sephiroth and not shooting. People don't seem to understand that im sure they had every intent to shoot him but in the particular moment they are not able to because of fear.
idk i feel as soon as he cut down one of the men someone would've at least tried to shoot him
I mean, that’s a weak justification. He cut them down one by one and they didn’t even react in anger or anything. Whoever storyboarded this could’ve easily made them shoot and have Sephiroth dodge effortlessly. It would’ve felt much more believable. The fact that so many people are calling it out only convince me even more that it could’ve been better.
@@TheCactuar124 The first person to shoot might kill Sephiroth, might be a hero. But what if it doesn't kill him? What if it makes him mad? What if he's not human? Maybe he'll decide it's not worth it and move on to someone else? You don't want to die. Few people have ever felt pure, primal fear. It's very easy to say "why didn't they do x?" when you're removed from the consequences.
It doesn't really matter, the scene still looks goofy. There were a hundred better ways to make that scene play. Maybe they drop their guns and try to flee, maybe they don't have guns but only farming tools, maybe they try shooting but Sephiroth dodges everything and kills them, or maybe you put more emphasis on their fear by showing them shaking and unable to pull the trigger, with Sephiroth mocking them, saying "go on, shoot me" or something like that.

some of the hints that most of these memories are zack’s and that cloud was a security officer
-at 1:36:18 cloud is speaking but the side subtitles say “security officer”
-security officer voiced by cody christian
-security officer at 34:33 and 1:17:07 clearly has cloud’s face
-zack’s personality and even his inflection extremely apparent from 55:41 to 56:42 and from 1:28:57 to 1:29:19

FORGOT AGAIN his interactions with tifa as a first class SOLDIER are all confirmed to actually be zack by crisis core, wherein those interactions are actually between zack and tifa with cloud as a security officer

It’s crazy how good of a job they did making Cloud talk and move just like Zack in the Nibelheim cutscene if I didn’t already play the original I’d instantly think Cloud was acting strange
Also if you listen closely to the infantryman, it's actually Cody Christian who also voices Cloud. It's a nice detail where we see and hear glimpses of the real Cloud in this flashback.
I had just played some crisis core, and the slow jog he does is exactly like Zach from crisis core.
@@broknight9718 Yep ! I immediately recognized Cloud's voice and a glimpse of his blond hair when "Cloud" was talking to the sick infantryman in the truck at the beginning.
thats my first thought too.. its a small detail if you didnt know about it, just thinking that cloud is just young hence playful still. but if you know whats going on, it really deals a lot..
i never got the chance to replay the og after my first playthrough of it, so im getting my firsthand experience of knowing it while playing/watching it.. it feels unsettling isnt it?.. specially when the character controlled cloud interacts with the real cloud... more so with graphics, voice acting, animation like this...
feels to me like an unveiling of some sort...

@@ViewportPlaythroughit's probably cloud roaming, but also a lot of it is probabaly false and recreated since he was embarrassed to be back but not as a soldier. Like him visiting his mom he definitely did do, but changed the interaction as if he were a soldier and not an infantryman

I replayed Remake a few Days ago.
Now it explains why Cloud was getting so angry in Midgar.
How the scene flickers make it eirie, because you know those sections never happened.

I love how some things from the original are kept intact throughout the flashback, like the wardrobe scene, the skips when cloud visits his mom etc
They left out where Sephiroth wondered what became of Professor Gast, inquiring why he even died.
I really liked the skips at his mom's house. If you didn't know the truth, it would probably be really confusing. It was when I was a kid and playing the OG. But now it's just all so clear.
1:31:00 Sephiroth was so pissed, he was practically hyperventilating 😢.
He probably thought Professor Gast, a scientist, he highly trusted and respected used the same unethical methods in creating him in the Jenova Project as Hojo did with his experiments in the reactor.
And with him slamming Cloud against the wall like that just from being grabbed by the hand…you could just imagine the domino effect of what went down to set him off as soon as he walked out the manor, running into those villagers camped outside eagerly waiting to see him.
i was struggling to figure out if he was crying or laughing, really well done from tyler. it's unfortunate zack didn't try to talk to him sooner.
Him throwing Cloud and later just giving him that glaring smirk after turning his sword backwards. I took it as what shred of humanity he had left being used on someone he had somewhat cared for. You could tell he respected him and after learning the truth about himself and losing his mind, I took it as what little good remained in his soul was used to protect the "rookie." He could've taken Cloud without a sweat that evening but I felt it was somewhat a mercy move.

It's strange how Cloud is energetic, youthful, and restless around Tifa and Sephiroth, while he's reserved, shy, and almost mopey when they're not around. Almost like's a different person. 🤔

As a black guy from hood, they have nailed Barrett's dialog and concept of emotion behind his lines in both Remake and this demo! I can't wait to hear the rest of him in the full game.

Voice actor Jon really delivered. I liked Barret before, but the Remake and Rebirth performances make me LOVE the character.

35:55 Remember that part in the original game when a lvl. 6 Cloud said "cool! see you at the reactor!" and proceeded to massacre every enemy in his path?
my only criticism of this is sephiroth having similar max hp & damage output to cloud. in the og he has at least 10x cloud's hp and one-shots everything, including a dragon, using high-level magic and a physical attack that hits for thousands of hp. cloud says "sephiroth's strength is phenomenal; he's way stronger than anything you might have heard" and that doesn't really come across in this game unfortunately
also the yellow paint on the ledges is unnecessary and breaks the immersion a bit, you could just have an icon like with other interactible landscape elements
They did such a good job making Hero Sephiroth so likeable. I was dreading the change when it happened.

Demo hits hard when you know what is really happening, and why Tifa never calls out Clouds name…. But holy much more dramatic episode in this remake… you feel for everyone, even Sephiroth.

Am i the only one who played the original game and feels so weird seeing Nibelheim so populated ? It was supposed to be a small village where everyone knows each other, and the sad melancolic music was more fitting to it. Seeing it so full of life just seems off to me.
I didn't mind it until now lol

If you have watched First Soldier Ever Crisis, Sephiroth truly hold up in wanting to be a normal person so much that he felt hurt being called with nicknames such as cyborg, weapon, etc. That is why finding out he was actually ‘created’ shattered his sanity. It’s because he actually found out he is not even normal, he also thought he was probably not even human. Nobody was there to talk some sense into him. If a father figure like Glenn was there, it might have turned differently. Zack was probably as confused as Sephiroth and therefore he wasn’t able to talk some sense to Sephiroth before it is too late. Even Zack was the one accidentally triggered Sephiroth with the word ‘created’. Sephiroth had been actively looking for his mother since he was young and that is truly heartbreaking. He was gaslighted by Hojo because Hojo showed a picture of Lucrecia but called her Jenova and Sephiroth was holding onto that his entire life. Lucrecia’s identity was erased completely and hence nobody knows her existence aside from Vincent but unfortunately Vincent put himself to sleep and locked himself away. The more I learned about Sephiroth the more I felt like he didn’t deserve to be hated.
I felt so bad for him when Cloud asks him about his parents and Sephiroth just laughs when he brings up his father. Sephiroth knew Hojo was his father and just hated him
I could've sworn Genesis was present in the Reactor when Sephiroth had his meltdown.
that fight against Materia Guardian, even Seph's dialogues are clearly for someone else ("wanna be a hero?" and "such a puppy")

Didn't it come in Kalm in the OG, so just after escaping Midgar? Sure there's a bit of travelling between Midgar and Kalm, but not that much.

Knowing the truth makes all this so creepy, seeing cloud behave like Zack, the way he talks and all, makes it so eerie
I was thinking that the whole time. It never bothered me so much in the OG, especially since we didn't know Zack, but here it is so creepy.
The ost of the final crawling section feels straight out of a horror movie. I say that as the biggest compliment possible. This demo is a masterpiece. To think that this is just the first measley 1%of the game.
I just love the fact that we embody a younger Cloud, his voice is softer and he's a little naive around the edges. A little zealous, too. The chemistry between the Sephiroth, Tifa and Cloud is pretty damn good, given what happens next at the Mako reactor.
Just a little thought tough. Where the f*ck does Sephiroth put his sword? Up his a**? Just askin', just askin'. 😂

they're going to have to make three more of these games if they want to cover the entire original story.
Apparently this remake goes as far as " Aerith's death " even though we don't really know if she actually dies or not. So i think one more game will be enough to cover the rest.
Possible spoilers ahead!
I think that while Zack and Cloud where in Hojos mako tanks Hojo transfered some of Zacks knowledge to Cloud, making him actually believe thats how it played out. Since there are many parts where the real cloud was not present and I doubt that Zack told Cloud every little detail that happened while he was poisened by mako later on. Would also explain why Cloud was as good as Zack with fighting without properly learning it. PTSD and coping mechanism can really messed up someone's mental and memories tbh. Also Zack was training cloud before the whole nibleheim incident happened cloud even tried to join SOLDIER again after he wasn't accepted again its in the crisis core game. Cloud is also naturally proficeint in using swords I think the turfs game tells that part.

I always thought some of these were Cloud actually interacting with Sephiroth for real, just not with Zack there because he was off doing something else.
And Cloud did spend a year where he basically had nothing to do but absord everything Zack told him. Always made me wonder what would have happened had Zack been there when Cloud was coming out of his coma

Lame. Why would the developers even change this? The scene was meant as a shocking reveal of Sephiroth's power, but I guess the horse already bolted on that one. If upgrading a story means downplaying the drama and gravitas of a key scene then I preferred the basic graphics, text boxes and using my imagination.
30:10 The whole point of this FLASHBACK is that Cloud isn't an overpowered anime fighter yet and needs to be carried by Sephiroth through every battle. How does he have almost 4000HP? Why is he doing acrobatic sword flips and taking down high-level enemies single-handedly? Ugh...

And notice how cynically they have to undermine Sephiroth’s power and authority by making Cloud (who was star-struck by him in the original) a sarcastic veteran fighter who equals him at every turn, even talking back to him (50:42). Moments like 34:34 and 49:10-49:30 are not random - they’re carefully calibrated to show that Cloud is equal to Sephiroth, which trivialises the drama of their intended power difference.

Hell I’m glad they literally stuck with going to Kalm the town after you leave Midgar hell technically the Game should really be starting the wild ride of FF7 now. Since Midgar was only a few hours if that. Then you go Kalm and that’s when this story is told and everything looks, sounds and feels the same like the original. That I am grateful for. I just hope it’s really open world this time! Like in the original game! Since after Midgar the entire game opens up and you can explore till your hearts content
yeah, that fight against Materia Guardian, even Seph's dialogues are clearly not for Cloud ("wanna be a hero?" and "such a puppy")
I'm genuinely going insane at how SE is so intent on keeping consistent with details. That Particular Shinra Grunt has his voice change depending on what Cloud remembers being said; like in 1:45 we hear Cloud's voice because he's subconsciously masquerading as Zack, and Cloud had been the one to answer that question; but at 8:12 we hear _Zack's_ voice because this was presumably a question asked by Zack to Cloud when realising Cloud probably knew people at Nibelheim. And if that doesn't take the cake, then the few close ups we get out of that guy's face showing us he has Cloud's face model will
