      Yup. It was a completely different channel run by completely different people at that time. I’d say Nickelodeon has come a long way since those early days. Granted, they’ve devolved for a long while, but they’re getting better.

      It was horrible. Up until 1984. When Fred Alan Inc took both MTV and Nick away from Warner Amex and turned things around, forming "MTV Networks,Inc" with Bankrolling from Viacom and MCA Television. The REAL History of Nickelodeon begins in 1984. I've ALWAYS discounted those first 5 years.

    These are the bumpers I remember. The mime was the first one on Nickelodeon back in the day, before the silver ball era. They had so many good shows on back then, starting with five hours of Pinwheel! This network has sadly gone downhill in recent years, but at least we can remember the good days! I could go on for hours about it.

      If you were a child in the late 70s-early 80s, it frankly would be strange if you thought the network were equal to or better than it was when you were a child. I assure you that all of the kids today prefer their Nick.
      And I say that as someone who, using emotional reasoning, feels Nickelodeon peaked in 1996. :P

    • @ZemeckisTEN
      @ZemeckisTEN 3 года назад

      Actually, I’d say that Nickelodeon has gotten better over the past couple of years. And that’s mostly thanks to the new President of the channel, Brian Robbins (co-creator of All That), who has been the president of Nickelodeon for the past 2 years. He’s promised that he’s going to make the entirety of Nickelodeon 100% creative driven. He’s also promised a whole slew of original content as well as a bunch more of reboots and revivals. I’d say Nickelodeon has a bright future ahead of us.

      Sounds like a Music, music, music remake. It was made famous in the '70s.

    I know that was the late 70s and these are just promos but this is kinda lame lol. No wonder Nickelodeon was the lowest rated TV network when it first started out until the mid 80s when it got a lot better.

      I actually tried to do some research on who this guy was or what he did for a living, and, I honestly couldn't find much! Even the most reliable sources and posts didn't list a name or birthday! It's that obscure! If someone invented the time machine, that would be a revelation for us, because we could go back to find this guy or other variants of certain logos and bring them back here! Still, we could do a lot more with it than find old shows, but for now, we can classify this guy's identity as lost in history!
      EDIT: Never mind, he’s no longer lost in history! His name is Vinny Verelli, and you can go to his RUclips channel right now! He actually uploaded some of the IDs himself, so you can ask him whatever you want!

      @@tvguy1979 and @Daniel Ippolito - Vinny Verelli is a character that was created by actor/mime Jon Schwartz in 1995. I've been a professional character actor since 1972. Between 1978-1981 was was a member of the Claude Kipnis Mime Theatre and toured the country with the company. One of the original member of the CKMT was working for Warner Cable at the time and they were looking for a mime to do the channel IDs. Rita called me and the rest, as they say, is history. Ive' worked as a comic on cruise ships and ran an entertainment company in Atlanta. I've worked with Tennessee Williams and toured state prisons in Florida with a production of Waiting For Godot. The account I'm using to make this comment is the "Cooking With Vinny" account where I post cooking videos. Hope you are doing well and thanks for thinking of me.
