    Those flat grates are bad for suction accidents. Not vgb compliance but I think having two drains should help reduce suction at one drain.

    The damage pool drains can cause is blood curdling 😨

    I'm curious to know what PSI an HRV is set at. If the pool is full, water pressure at 6feet is around 20psi. Is the HRV set to relieve pressure both with a full and empty pool? Not much sense to have it set to constantly dump ground water into a pool. Any idea??? Thanks!

      I dont to be honest - not a clue! They only are there for an empty pool as a full pool will be able to hold its own against any upward pressure, it is when it is empty it can be a problem. - Hope that helps (sort of lol) - Andi

    Hi, really helpful video, could you answer a question for me though please?
    When installing a certikun main drain into 250mm concrete slab . Is it best to just encase the pipe work in the centre of the slab? Or drop it out of the slab and go in the sand beneath the pool?
    First time installing a diy pool hence the basic question! I can’t decide which way I prefer… and whether to wrap said drain pipe in insulation or not!!

      Thanks for the comment - the answer is that you could do either. Me, I would put the pipe into the slab - just my preference - hope that helps - Andi

    If you need to sever the main drain pipe before the valve before the pump how to you plug the drain?

    • @Buildahottub
      @Buildahottub  Месяц назад

      I would use a rubber winterisation plug and put that in the bottom of the drain. There will be water in the pipes that ideally you would want to remove with a vac so that didnt go bad. Hope that helps - Andi

    Andy when fitting a HD33L liner main drain into the floor do you concrete/fill the gutter like rim around the drain ????

    • @Buildahottub
      @Buildahottub  3 месяца назад

      Not massively familiar with liners as dont deal with them but there will be a large gasket that you screw down on the drain to seal it around the liner - you may need the space on the gutter for this bit. Hope that helps - Andi

    So does every main drain have HRV and if so does it automatically work if I have a high water table ? because after the winter when all the snow melts my pool gets over flooded and causes the liner to float. I was always wonder why? Maybe draining all the water out before next winter will work ?

    • @Buildahottub
      @Buildahottub  Год назад +1

      Hi There, thanks for the question. It is good practice to have one HRV in the system, you dont need one in each main drain. It does automatically open when the pressure underneath is greater than that of the pool - when it is empty for example. Sounds like you have water ingress under your liner which could be coming in through the cocnrete shell or it could be cracked and need repairing. In this case, I dont necessarily think a HRV would help - sounds like you just have a leak into your shell. A HRV would not necessarily open in this case as just having water there does not constiture pressure applying an upward force on the shell of your pool - hope that helps - Andi

    If bottom drain is clogged up can pool still function without it

    • @Buildahottub
      @Buildahottub  Год назад

      Hi Robert, you should have two bottom drains in a pool so if one is clogged, then it can still function. However, you should be looking to un clog them asap as it is not good of course. Also, if you only have one drain that is clogged then you will be relying on just the skimmer - this is only drawing water at the top of the pool so you are not going to get the correct filtration. Hope that helps - Andi

    Can that bottom drain get clogged?

    • @Buildahottub
      @Buildahottub  Год назад +1

      I guess any bottom drains can get clogged, this is why you have two of them in a pool or large spa and you should remove any hair or debris from them regularly
