I stopped playing chess for some months being around 1400 on lichess, mostly because i did not enjoy playing and got frustrated. I got into a habit of watching your videos to fall asleep and your easy going view on chess inspired me to play rated again. I went up to 1800 immediately, just having a better positional understanding and a better attitude with losing, trying to learn something from every game. I am way too lazy to improve much further, but i dont feel the need to, im really enjoying chess right now and thats all i want. So thank you, youre a great teacher

how did you reach 1400 and then 1800? im stuck at 800-900 even though i can beat 1000-1300 elo (most of the time) and i just somehow cant go beyond no matter how much chess videos or lessons i watch and understand.

@@floof6896 play 2-3 rapid games a day and analyze your games with slow deliberate cognition. doing the same for puzzles as well. it will feel slow and unproductive at first but if you keep persisting it is only a matter of time before your intuition grows. I would also recommend to avoid over consuming chess videos to learn / spamming too many games in one session. But honestly, I think the biggest problem for most people is autopilotting and not being active enough in the cognitive processes that facilitates proper learning.

@@floof6896if you are serious about learning chess, I recommend reading the book “make it stick”. It not about chess, instead it’s a book about how to learn. I promise you, if you study that book and apply the knowledge you extract from it in your life a whole new world opens up.

@@catalystlover is there anything i can do with my fear of playing rapid games? i fear alot about losing elo and performing super poorly and end up dropping to a lower level. i usually end up only playing 3-5 rapid games a week (and theyre unrated most of the time)

I don't think most people understand or respect exactly how ridiculously difficult it is to become IM. Or any title for that matter.

I think black might have been able to sack the knight and save the queen if Rook takes b7 and not f7 12:28

Black’s getting a rook and bishop for the queen though, which might be better than a piece down. Position is lost either way.
