Watching Geraint just enjoying cycling among the best in the sport, leading his team and his friend Cavendish just makes me have even more respect for him. A gentlemen of this sport
Geraint Thomas is always a class act (and that Cav lad is pretty quick)
Yeah that Cav guy is good in sprint. He could try bike racing !
@Nigel Buckham But not today.
@@nigelbuckham6417You sound bitter.
Cav ain’t bad for a 37yr old.
@Nigel Buckham you mean a loser?
I just loved that little flick of the head from Thomas: “On my wheel, mate.”
Cavendish is a great rider who never forgets his team mates, when he wins.
Geraint Thomas is a great Human Being.
Reminded us of Brad leading out Cav in Paris...
Wow! One of Cav's best finishes I think. Tactics sound easy but that's because he's incredibly experienced. People been saying he's past it - but he left the pack of other great sprinters way behind....... Sensational sprint from Sensational Sprinter!
Congratulations!!!
@Nigel Buckham he does get in a lot of crashes, but that is not the same as cheating. sheesh
@Nigel Buckham tell me you know f-all about cycling without telling me! You are just eaten up with jealousy princess
Cav's fasted days are behind him... but he knows where the line is.
@JoseyWales47 he just won another criterium...don't think he's done yet lol
I was stood by the Joan of arc statue that day, the feeling and the crowd when the yellow helmet was the first thing you could see coming out of the tunnel on the final lap was amazing. This sprint definitely reminds me of that day.
G and Cav, what a final!!!
How not to love Thomas working hard for an old friend? 😍 Big respect, big fan from Brazil since 2010 👏
G was Cav's servant (yet again) just one last time. Fairy tale stuff. Chapeau!
Cavendish picking Gaviria's wheel even after the Giro he's had and being right, is why he was such a great rider.
Split second reaction, he noticed gaviria with momentum and Milan not really kicking off. Cool head and years of experience:)
@@TheSteinbitt pure instinct
I love seeing the Brits lead out for each other. Remember Wiggo in Yellow, putting down the hammer for Cav in Paris?
Geraint doing it cross-team made it even better.
Cav sounded touched.
@@nigelbuckham6417the whole sport is dirty, but yeah, what’s your point again?
Welsh
@Nigel Buckham wow you really are sad and eaten up with jealousy. Sorry who are you exactly. Don't think anyone in the cycling world has heard of you. Doubtful anyone will remember you either....
And at Brive a few days before that.
Cav will be missed, GOAT.
Thanks G. That last push helped cav. Watch out boys, if cav can win here he could win another one at the tour. The form is obviously there. Take a break now and prepare. Cav is just amazing. No train of his own yet he picks his way through the mess and wins. A true sprinter. Mad.
Watching this almost a year after it happened and it still almost brings a tear to my eye! G what a bloke, was so disappointed from the TT the day before and thought, I’m gonna help my old mate out here.
What a legend!!
5:33 you can see Geraint telling Cavendish to follow him
Nice! And at 6:37 Cav thanked him. 😊
i think he told that ll cool sanchez
Watching live it looked easy, as if many of the teams wanted Cav to win, but watching it a few more times you realize how perfectly he was positioned and how he just left the quickest guys in the Giro for dead. That was impressive.
@Nigel Buckham well he’s retiring you can choose someone else to be negative about, seems your thing.
@Nigel Buckham you want to produce evidence to back up your childish remarks? Who are you going to moan about from your armchair when Cav retires? Get a life you sad git.
@Nigel Buckham why would they do that if they consider him to be a cheat?
imagine him doing this at stage 21 of the tour 😵 cant wait!
At 2.2 Km to go, 5.37 into the video you can see G check that Cavendish is on his wheel. Both of them are phenonenal riders and great entertainers.
Saw Cav in the Gran Sasso stage this year as he slogged up the final climb - I shouted out 'Go on, Mark, you'll win a stage this year' not really believing what I was saying. I felt a bit hypocritial so I'm delighted he did end up winning one, and the best one of them all!
Love Cav so much. Has been absolute joy over the years....not done yet 🙏
Cav to the Tour !!!!
Chapeau Cav !!!!!!
Never been the biggest Cav fan, but he truly deserved to win this stage, after finishing the entire Giro. I was very glad for him, seeing him struggle in earlier stages and having this victory at last. In fact, I was cheering him on, as was probably half of the peleton. Now we're gonna see him in de TdF, I guess, one last time.
G being a wonderful person makes me want to be a fan of ineos even more
Goosebumps 🎉
LEGEND proper sportsmanship lads!
Jumbo and Ineos helping Cav.
Love this foootage
I love the emotion the narrator puts into this. What a finish!
Incredible. Rob Hatch is one of the best commentators in any sport, let alone cycling.
Of all Sir Cav's wins this was the greatest. G smashing a km for no reason other than he loves the man to set him up for this epic finish. Beats 2012 in Paris with Sir Wiggins and number 35 at the TDF for me. This was special as Sir Cavendish was considered finished.
Jens Voight is such a great addition to the commentary team! Please keep him in for the future.
The same JV that wrote off Roglic for GC?😂
@@czekhoongtan7857Sean Kelly wrote Roglic off half way up the climb, as did most others. His ascent was supernatural, a huge ‘boost’ from his form thus far
Just came to see all those who wrote him off a couple of weeks ago eating their words. Funny how they never seem to stir from their coffins when he is doing well. Greatest sprinter of all time, even including the drug-fueled names that many will put forward in his stead.
Well put!
If you think Cavendish never fueled his sprint with drugs you should give your head a wobble.
@David James he’s drug free? Riiiiiiiight
@davidoffon he finished 3rd in the points without even trying for any interim sprints. With virtually no help from his team. And got over all the mountains fairly comfortably. If you want to call that consistently dreadful then I'm guessing you've never got on a bike without stabilisers. Another pleb who only gets up from his armchair to fetch the remote control.
I love Cav, but I bet he does as many/much drugs as the rest.
Love this, G's wee nod of the head and Cav doing Cav things. As an aside, the latest edition of the Geraint Thomas Cycling Club podcast has Cav on it and you can just tell the love and respect they have for each other - well worth a listen
Me words, Cavendish won! The highest point of the 2023 Giro. Those Italians owe the cycling world two consecutively excellent Giros.
Superb from cavendish congratulations to you mark brilliant ride top man bring on le tour
Kudos G for his classy contribution in part of Cav's sprint win.
The UAE rider put his head down (7:43) and looked up before drifting right and possibly clipped Milan's front wheel resulting in his veering off to the right... nasty crash on the last stage... unfortunate.
What a ride & a brilliant commentary ❤
Cav, your are atill our hero. Cav see you in Paris!!!!
I don’t think G will have any regrets after this Giro. He rode almost perfectly and could not have done more. He’ll find retirement a lot easier now knowing he had 21 stages in Italy and lost out to a stronger rider.
Personally after Cav crashed out of the TdF this year I hope Ineos brings them back together for a year to get Cav Merckx’s TdF record.
Let them both go out on top at the team where it all started and give them the send off they deserve.
Enjoyed watching this over and over again with MC winning, and the commentators like you are in Giro ❤
LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! Cav!!!
5:34 - i think this was the moment Geraint told Cav to get on his wheel. Such a class act. What a great pleasure to see such great cyclists.
That crash on the last meters looked nasty, espacially the impact on the side barriers. hope everyone is ok.
I doubt they are ok, looked like broken bones at that speed...
I must have watched this about a thousand times now
Pure Thomas class imagine what he could of achieved given his legs ?
now that is the way to go into retirement !!! bravo Cav
I m too Happy for CAV. Remember when wiggo did the SAme at Paris. A pity G was not Pink...
Love the commentary ❤
My Inspiration in sprinting!!!!!
Cav....wow!!!!
Cav & G…legends reunite 👏🏻👍🥂🕺🏽they’ll be talking about that in their old age sharing a 🍺
I love all these moments
The words 'the greatest of all time' are so easy to say but believe me, Cavendish has been the worlds best sprinter for 15 years: the words fit him like a well worn glove.
Cav is the man the 🐐
Thomas was great to help a mate out and Cavendish is the best sprinter that ever lived.
What a great ending to the Giro. I just hope Cavendish can get a couple of stages in the Tour de France to seal his legacy.
This is classic ❤The greatest sprinter MC is framed up by a great champion GT. Never underestimate the power of Champions 🙏💪
The greatest of all time sprints to victory again. Bravo Mark.
Greatest. Of. All. Time.
special thanks to ineos for allowing g to help cav.
That was brilliant of G to lead out Cav with 2 km to go, then the master got into the right position to track Milan and smoke it!
The GOAT!!
What a difference a good lead out makes.
cav would have had two or three if astana had brought a sprint train
Just after the 1k mark (at 6:37) when Thomas backs off - see Cavendish give him a fist pump as he passes 🤜
Superb
Fantastic stuff and great commentary at the line 👌🏻
Goosebumps
I nearly missed out! WoW! Glad I got to see it!
This entire 8 minutes would've been the goat call of a race if not for Sean opening his mouth.
UAE rider rode across the back of the DSM rider and crashed himself out. Looked like Gaviria punctured or something, his bike skipped a lot after he backed off. Still enjoyed it though! Not sure how people could think other teams would 'gift' a win to another rider and team.
A sprint how it should be. Clean.
Cav and Thomas are to good to retire.
Cavendish still got it (!). It's all in for a tdf win.
2009 just called; it wants it's Mark Cavendish back.
Now that Cav has overtaken Cipolini for pro wins. Yes he is the greatest sprinter of all time
4:32 goodbye Derek
The last dance.
Final commentator shout not quite correct. Cav is not the world's best sprinter but he is the GOAT sprinter and, of course, he was the best by a long way in his pomp
that looked way to easy..looking forward to Tour de France so much more now.😀
#LetCavWin
"Doesn't have much of a team to lead him out here"
Geraint Thomas...."or does he?"
Wow a crash at the end and Cav wasn't involved. :D
I loved seeing cav take it but that ain’t the tour
Wasn't even close! Cavendish needs to reconsider?
Why would Gaviria think after 3 wks of pain he could do a full 300m sprint? OH, right, it was a setup for Mark all along.
INEOS riding for Cav or just bringing Thomas safe to the 3 km mark? I mean they caught the breakaway and then Thomas was taking Cavendish to the front after they reached the 3 km mark. Not my own thought I must admit, I heard it somewhere. Anyway, Thomas did a great job and Cavendish won in style.
This win made me so happy...i never stopped believing in mark..saudi tour is when he started healing
1080 resolution??? Really? is this 10 years old footage???
If the giro was a bowling league, how should the last 100m be scored?
A 300 game!
Gave it away. And Milan looked like he had no gears.
If Cav had a better leadout he would have at least another Giro stsge win this year.
Glad that he won, but seems like most of the peloton were doing their best to make it happen.
05:35
Who’s this cavendish bloke? Seems pretty quick.
I never heard of this Cavendish guy 🧐
What's name the commentator's?
wish he didnt crash this tour de france so he can have his chance at Champs-Élysées
Did someone loose his helmet?
Hey where was the world best cyclic the legendary Tadej Pogacar?
Injured - broken wrist.
for once british cycling fans have a reason to stop hating astana
Crashindish did not hold his line again and cut off Gaviria 😢 im very glad he is retiring He did not win
Cut him off? Nonsense, Cav had already swept by him and was riding away from him. Watch the overhead.
Did they pretty much let Cavendish win this stage? Seems the others pulled up in the last few seconds to give him the victory.
Because they were no where near him, you know when you’re beat
Qué bochorno, Gaviria.
I guess he won't be abusing his mechanic today?
