@@michaelsiy2465 Makes sense but that's not the point. The point is the gentrification issue which also happened in Boracay which forced the original inhabitants to leave the island because of the increased cost of living and land value brought about by foreign investors.
@@wayzennie1617 Foreign investment is good for developing countries. That’s how sustainable tourism works. At the end of the day, only policies put in place by the LGU’s and the LGU’s themselves are to blame.
@@michaelsiy2465 It's good in big cities where majority of the local population are already earning money to live through the high cost of living. But in an island where the locals are mostly poor it is not. While you may argue they get jobs... at the end of the day they get the lower end of the stick some earning lower than minimum wage. And exactly it's the LGU i am blaming for allowing foreign investors in the island. Sagada on the other hand only allows local business owners so only people from Sagada can benefit from tourism.

Ah Siargao. The most gentrified island in the Philippines that you feel like you are in a western island instead of the Philippines when you go there.
