The screen also looks too wide and "empty" at some points like you wish they could add more to all that empty space to make the world feel more "real" and inmersive. That aside it looks like an "ok" fangame. Not on the level of AM2R or Megaman X Corrupted but still "ok".
I know what line you're thinking of, but the best line in a game ever has gotta be "All your base are belong to us." I mean that one is just a clear-cut winner.
Looks gorgeous! The sprites and backgrounds are amazing, and the effect when the holy water hit something was beautiful as well. Very well done by this studio 😊
I wish there was an option to have the original music, but this is amazing. Simons quest is one of my all time favorite games and ddfinitely my fav by far from the 2d games
I mean it looks good because they used a lot of sprites from official games. But the problem is, they butchered the music horrendously. The village music is over-scored. Can barely hear the notes properly. And then I mean, where tf is Bloody Tears??? One of the most legendary songs in the entire franchise, that originated in this game isn't there. And then the manor music was also memorable. This sucks. As much as I love Simon's Quest as a game, one of the best part of any game in the classic castlevania library is the music.
I wouldn't go that far. It's decent from a technical standpoint, but I'm about 20 min in, and everything is a recycled asset from another game. Naturally with the exception of Simon's sprite, which seems be Richter's sprite with a paintjob and some additions. It's one of many reimaginings using recycled assets, but ultimately not on the level that Konami is capable of. In all honesty, when / if Konami quits sitting on the Castlevania IP, one of two easy options I think they could go with is a Simon's Quest remake or the 1999 Demon Castle Wars. Here's hoping.
At the end I thought it was going to say "The morning sun has vanquished the horrible night." XD By the by, it may seem some of those creatures are bugged a little. Maybe they are looking for Shanoa instead haha.
Wow. I cannot believe there actually exists a fully playable fan-made remake of Simon's Quest. Graphically it looks amazing and the music arrangement style is well made, too. Whoever designed the graphics is clearly fond of Order of Ecclesia. However, regarding gameplay, there are many deviations from the original game that I'm not sure if I like them. Firstly, all the mansions except the first one seem to be completely redesigned, and all of them include a mandatory boss battle. There is no more oak stakes used to reveal a Dracula's body part. Then, there is no more leveling up based on experience points gained. Finally, the day and night cycle has been completely abandoned. Also, hearts being replaced by money as currency and being used as ammunition for items is an obvious change as well, but I don't mind that. Another welcome change is that all the villagers seem to give only correct information in this version. All this inexorably leaves me with some questions: 1) Why doesn't Simon gain any levels and increases to his stats along with them? 2) Why is there no more day and night cycles? 3) Why has "Bloody Tears" not been used in this version at all? 4) Why has that stupid typo of "process" from North American NES version left uncorrected? Of course, since this is RUclips, I don't expect anyone to answer them, but those questions linger in my mind regardless.
Simon Belmont. I always loved how he collects fragments of Dracula in order to resurrect him early, so that he might immediately pummel him back to slumber. I mean, that's next level. Sorry Drac, no long sleep for you. You hexed me, so I'm going to collect your body parts, so that I can spread them out over transylvania again. You're welcome. My great grandkids will see you in a couple hundred years.

Glad you are enjoying it! Honestly, this is the first fan game I've really given a go and it was very good. Castlevania fans are obviously starved for games, so this was a really nice surprise.
The scaling can be better. Plus cheap earth deaths galore. You can’t necessarily come and leave mansions as you like. Once you get to a certain point you’re stuck. And if you’re too weak against a boss you’re screwed. How do you level up, increase your max life?

Not exactly a fan of seeing re-used assets from every game put together, but this might be promising if only it had a consistent art style, like in AM2R for example.
A fan having high expectations for a fan game is unorthodox but not unheard of. I think it all looks very well, and Super Castlevania 3 also does this. Take what is available and appreciate it the best you can 👌
thumbs up, i kinda like it. the only thing i do not like is the simon sprite... or his clothes, don't know exactly what it is, but simon should be overworked a little by the author.
I wish I'd seen this walkthrough sooner. I got my butt handed to me from ol Frankenstein many times trying to beat him with the chain whip. I figured out my second play through to use the morningstar. This is a great remake and you did a great job breaking up the chapters. I was able to confirm I've collected all the weapons and am on my way to my second confrontation with Dracula.
Trust me, I died to all of the bosses numerous times before finding a good strategy! 🤣 Don't be like me and make sure you check out the bonus Mansion before heading in to fight Dracula! I missed it twice. You gotta use the flame whip to burn down some bramble to get to it.
nice editing to look like one play through.. Lol when you fought the skelly in first mansion go from thorn whip to chain whip in one screen.. I was like damn there aint no way this guy is just walking right through this game..
Haha, yeah, sadly I missed some stuff in Berkeley Mansion on my first playthrough, so I had to start a second run and forgot to grind out the whip upgrade before doing the mansion. Sorry!
I'm very impressed with this remake. Great visuals, and great job reimagining the world. Also thought the change in the currency and heart system was a nice touch. It's too bad the omnidirectional strikes weren't included here. I know it probably was complex to do, but it would give it some extra flair I think. :)

It actually is cool to see them "SotNify" a classic NES game, even if some of the changes were a bit silly (Simon's awkward "shoulder swing" walking sprite, battle drums in a town theme, etc). Still looks great!
Incredible overhaul of the original. I like the touches made to make the game more interesting : - For once, a skeletal sprite animation doesn't look like crap; Simon's power walk is gloriously smooth - Getting stronger is linked to mansion progress instead of just gaining experience. - Hearts for sub-weapons so the stronger ones can't just be spammed endlessly - Clearer hints from villagers - Though it is not in, the absence of the day-night cycle feels like it would have cut down the flow of that fangame (unless it had been seemless) - Overland music changes based on the number of mansions you've cleared - Towns have unique music as well, mostly reflecting their state - Bosses can't be skipped and are more involved than just a floating 'something' - Some obscure secrets make more sense (like the hanged man on the tree instead of just a cliffside) I did notice in the Carmilla fight though that the damage displayed didn't match what the character lost : it showed taking hits of 60 but losing 20. Really like the remake, redone soundtrack and style of the fan game, great redesign, looks like SotN engine? Also like the idea of actual gold instead of buying with hearts, great job on redoing the first mansion so far, will continue watching later. Personally I loved the original Simons Quest and this really is onto something. I don't like the design of Simon so much personally, like someone also said he's to bright and a little small compared to the townsfolk. I do miss a very important feat but not sure if that is in later or not recorded here in the first 30 minutes. "What a horrible night to have a curse" as in the original zombies in towns, much tougher enemies and more damage received at night...
Sadly, I have no technical capabilities 😂. You would have to ask Warmachine, the dev. Think they are most reachable on their discord server: discord.gg/ge76ZHJB
Its accurate to castlevania 2's art and ending. Simon had red and gold armour in this game. (And he had ginger hair, after red in the original - he wouldnt look anything like the blonde conan style for years and years)@umgamersenpaiugs6268
step 1 : create big tideous location, step 2 : create fast move to cover distances (c) bible of game design, 1675 year and it begins with first 'grind wall' and 'backtracking' : earn money in the woods and come back to but first sub-weapon - it is ridiculous, 5 minutes later "Wait you havent grinded for long time, here is a chain whip, go grind for it ! "
Dracula's "on your knees" attack will reverse direction so it will hit you if you touch the ground. I've been on the pillars and jumped over the fireball, but I landed on the ground instead of another pillar and, boom it turned right to get me. Horrible!
I really want nintendo to remake this game with modern graphics. This was one of my favourite games growing up (along side legend of zelda and battle of olympus)
I think it would be better if Simon matched the image that Ayami kojima created, with red hair and so on. An unpopular opinion, but I like this design, even the version from Judgment
you missed the secret 8bit mansion (the one you acces with the tornado on the NES game). once you get the fire whip instead going for yomi take the upper path and use the fire whip on the branches, from there you will get to the last mansion in wich lies the blood of dracula. Edith, i see you have the blood as the whip recharge your HP on dracula's battle, why did you left it out of the video? Oo
there seems to be a bug with the undead dragon boss fight. whenever i slide underneath it i keep getting hit for no reason, making that boss fight near impossible to beat.
I had trouble sliding under the dragon without getting hit, too. If you can get under him when he jumps, that's probably the best time. And obviously use the shield to block the fire.
Its interesting for sure with some great ideas but im still leaning towards the original release as my preferred way to play. There is a different remake of cv2 for pc and that one is much closer to the nes version and i prefer that one over this one as well.

It looks great, like Castlevania's own AM2R. I think Simon just seem too brightly colored. Also, the buildings in towns look oddly flat.
The screen also looks too wide and "empty" at some points like you wish they could add more to all that empty space to make the world feel more "real" and inmersive. That aside it looks like an "ok" fangame. Not on the level of AM2R or Megaman X Corrupted but still "ok".

Its accurate to castlevania 2's art and ending. Simon had red and gold armour in this game. (And he had ginger hair, after red in the original - he wouldnt look anything like the blonde conan style for years and years)@umgamersenpaiugs6268
@@dommoore6180 thank you for the light
@@UGS2702 i even think that not Simon but gabriel Belmont
That's a pretty small and petty complaint.
step 1 : create big tideous location,
step 2 : create fast move to cover distances
(c) bible of game design, 1675 year
and it begins with first 'grind wall' and 'backtracking' : earn money in the woods and come back to but first sub-weapon - it is ridiculous, 5 minutes later "Wait you havent grinded for long time, here is a chain whip, go grind for it ! "
Dracula's "on your knees" attack will reverse direction so it will hit you if you touch the ground. I've been on the pillars and jumped over the fireball, but I landed on the ground instead of another pillar and, boom it turned right to get me. Horrible!
Music is so good.
I seem to have been playing a later version as the old man in Ondol section features all four characters.
CASTLEVANIA FOR ALL ETERNITY 💀💀💀🔥
Looking great! A lot of sotn vibes though, but this is a cool reimagining
What a night for a curse
Looks really, really good
I enjoyed it!
It seems to me that this designer wants you to use your sub weapons a lot, given all the candles in the areas. :)
I never knew Simon Belmont was a Hulkamaniac!
I still think they should have done a level base style game like the original castlevania but this works. I do like how they kept the typos.
Does this game not have the day/night cycle?
Nah, the dev decided not to put it in the game, it seems.
Prosession is 9/10ths of the law.
Haha, that's really good.
Soy fanatico de Castlevania.
Anyone else getting mad Henry Cavill vibes from Simon? Great guitar licks🤘🏻
Man, why those colors for Simon? sheesh
I've seen others say that they are based off of Gabriel's style in Lords of Shadow, but yeah, it's definitely a divisive look.
I like the part where the keeper of the upside down cross is defeated!!!!
In the Castlevania universe candles do not produce a light source just give you hearts when struck.
I really want nintendo to remake this game with modern graphics. This was one of my favourite games growing up (along side legend of zelda and battle of olympus)
this looks amazing. im calling this a must have for retro fans. now where can i get it?
The soundtrack!
liked and subscribed. Good channel indeed; I'll follow your career with interest.
Thank you so much for the kind words and support!
Very good but why don't put the mechanics of richter from SOTN
Wow this looks amazing. I wish this was real. How the hell do fan made games end up looking more promising that full dev games?! So odd.
It is real. You mean "official?"
Wow the gameplay and the music are just awsome. Great work on this remake🥳
Today i discovered this great treasure!!!
What about the woman and her 'sight' aka Dracula's eye riddle?!?!?!?
at the end of the day, isn’t every game made by fans
Awesomeness!
I think it would be better if Simon matched the image that Ayami kojima created, with red hair and so on. An unpopular opinion, but I like this design, even the version from Judgment
Earnest Evans in Castlevania!
I had never heard of this before! Looks like Castlevania meets Indiana Jones. I'll have to check it out. Thanks!
@@watchthegameplay - It's kind of a meme game, but it's also not terrible.
you missed the secret 8bit mansion (the one you acces with the tornado on the NES game).
once you get the fire whip instead going for yomi take the upper path and use the fire whip on the branches, from there you will get to the last mansion in wich lies the blood of dracula.
Edith, i see you have the blood as the whip recharge your HP on dracula's battle, why did you left it out of the video? Oo
This is amazing! I absolutely love the soundtrack.
Me trajo al recuerdo . El vestuario de Gabriel , extrañe la noche al original . De restó exelente adaptación
there seems to be a bug with the undead dragon boss fight. whenever i slide underneath it i keep getting hit for no reason, making that boss fight near impossible to beat.
Wow this game looks awesome they even involved Alucard and the vampire killer whip. Also mentoined Sypha as well this game is nostalgiatastic.
The game is packed with references to the series at large. Developer is obviously a huge fan!
looks cool, just too bad besides the opening song doesnt sound like any of the music is the same
