      @ahmedhussain999. Diane used to until the writers performed a spine-ectomy on her in the third season. Back then Carla's attacks were less frequent and more benign, something the audience could identify in Diane and therefore agreeably funny. Later on there were too many ugly references to death or mental illness or physical appearance from Carla in that dumbass masculine way of hers. Diane was seldom permitted to give a retort. It felt hollow.

    • @johnmac91
      @johnmac91 3 года назад +8

      That's what happens when you hit back at people who like to hurl insults. A lot of time they can dish it out but can't take it, so when you give it back to them they get flustered.
      Many years ago, I worked with a guy like that. He had an insult like that for everyone, whether they were overweight, or bald, or whatever. In my case, I was was starting to lose my hair, so he'd make a lot of bald cracks. That didn't bother me. But what did bother me, was that there was another guy there, a good friend of mine, who stuttered, and this guy used to tease him about it. To me, that was totally classless, making fun of a person's affliction. My friend said it didn't bother him, but i knew it did, so I wanted to get back at this guy.
      Someone had told me that this jerk was self conscious about being short (he was maybe 5'4"), so I waited for an opportunity to hit him with it. Sure enough, one day he looked at the bald spot on my head and said "you're getting a little thin up top". I just looked him in the eye and said "how do you know? You can't see the top of my head".
      The look on his face was priceless. He muttered something like he wanted to come back with something but had nothing. He just turned and walked out of the room. What made it great was that there was a whole room full of people (many of whom had been the targets of his insults), and they were all laughing their asses off. He was mortified. He pretty much kept his mouth shut after that.

      @@johnmac91 No offense but that's a pretty weak comeback. For the guy to get flustered that easily is laughable. Glad it all worked out in the end.

    Night Court is well known for its tall actors, but Cheers often gets overlooked for the peak heights of many of its actors (their heights today would be lower given people often shrink a slight bit as they get older)- Kelsey Grammer is 6'1", Ted Danson is 6'3" (or more accurately 6'2.5"), Woody Harrelson is 5'11", and John Ratzenberger is 5'10" (more accurately 5'9.5"). That's all above average height for men.
